Peggy Corbett, devout Catholic
Peggy Corbett was devoted to her faith.
"She was a very devout Catholic, " said her brother William Corbett, adding that she went to Mass daily for many years at Mother of God Church.
"For years and years, she'd go on her lunch hour, " he said.
Ms. Corbett, 91, of Ludlow, died Saturday at Florence Park Care Center.
"She's been a good person all her life, " her brother said. "She enjoyed a long, good life."
Ms. Corbett was a member of Sts. Boniface and James Church in Ludlow and the St. Mary Altar Society. She was a retired secretary with Mutual Fire Insurance Co., Covington, and a former teacher with Notre Dame Elementary and St. Augustine schools.
She taught third grade for several years in the 1930s, her brother said. "She enjoyed teaching, but it didn't pay much in those days, so she had to find something else, " he said.
She grew up as the only girl with six brothers, so she became quite a sports fan. "She loved baseball and football but always thought they didn't have to tackle that hard in football, " Corbett recalled with a laugh.
Ms. Corbett enjoyed a good laugh and was very sociable. She was low-key, but didn't mind speaking her mind when it came to issues such as abortion. In fact, she volunteered for a time for a Right to Life group.
"She believed in the straight and narrow, " her brother said.
She belonged to Ludlow Senior Citizens and Daughters of Teachers.
She loved to travel with the senior citizens group.
She also enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews.
"She was just a well-loved person, " Corbett said.
In addition to Mr. Corbett of Ludlow, she is survived by another brother, Joseph Corbett of Fort Mitchell.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sts. Boniface and James Church. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow. Taylor Lancelot Chaffin, 17 months, of Columbia City, Ind., died at 4:55 p.m. Saturday at Whitley City Memorial Hospital in Columbia City.
Survivors include his parents, Jodi Lynn Miller and Tommy L. Chaffin Sr. of Columbia City; sisters, Ashley M. Miller of Clarksville, Tenn., and Autumn N. Miller of Columbia City; a brother, Tommy L. Chaffin Jr. of Chesapeake, Ohio; and grandparents Russell and Hope Whitson of Covington, and Carryl Miller of Warsaw, Ind.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, Columbia City. Aubrey Clift, 90, of California, died at 8:55 a.m. Sunday at Highlands of Fort Thomas nursing home. He was a retired employee of Allis Chalmers and a former employee of Frank Messer & Sons Inc. He was a member of Melbourne United Methodist Church and an Army veteran of World War II. His wife, Audrey Sewell Clift, preceded him in death.
Survivors include a son, Kenneth Clift of Newport; a daughter, Karen Ashcraft of Jackson; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Melbourne United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m Tuesday at Alexandria Funeral Home, and 10 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Betty Jo Code, 63, of Union, died at 7:45 p.m. Friday at her hoe. She was a homemaker and a real estate agent.
Survivors include her husband, Robert W. Code; a son, James Allen Code of Florence; a daughter, Dana M. Code of Independence; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Forest Lawn Mausoleum Chapel, Erlanger. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Entombment will be in Forest Lawn Mausoleum. Memorials are suggested to ALS-Lou Gehrig's Disease Society. Stith Funeral Home, Florence, is handling arrangements.
Audrey Finkenstedt, 80, of Latonia, died Friday at her home. She was the retired owner of Diane's Carryout in Latonia and a member of Church of God, Latonia.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Finkenstedt; daughters, Modine Davis of Speedwell, Tenn., Maxine Rouse of Independence, Carol Decker of Alexandria, Shirley Bogle of Burlington and Charlene Glacken of Covington; nine grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.
James Logan Jesse, 58, of Florence, died at 12:58 a.m. Saturday at University Hospital, Cincinnati. He was a food service director with Aramark Corp., Cincinnati, and a member of Florence Baptist Church. He was a member of the Dietary Manager's Association.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Jesse; his mother, Hazel Jesse of Cincinnati; brothers, Thomas H. Jesse of Cincinnati and Robert Wayne Hargis of Englewood, Fla.; and a sister, Georgia Mize of Cincinnati.

Lula B. Kinman, 84, of Dry Ridge, died Saturday at her home. She was a retired cook with Carlsbad Rest Home, Dry Ridge, the Owen County Jail, Owenton, and Wheeler's Restaurant in Dry Ridge. She was a member of Mount Pisgah Methodist Church, Dry Ridge. Her husband, Floyd J. Kinman, died in 1962. Sons Russell Kinman and Floyd "Sam" Kinman also preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons, Ralph Kinman of Jacksonville, Fla., Julian Kinman and Claude Kinman, both of Dry Ridge; daughters, Ruth Day of Williamstown, Ruby Hawkins and Brenda Brogden, both of Jacksonville, Fla., and Ann Williams of Elsmere; a sister, Sue Edna Richardson of Florida; 30 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Chad Edward Knapp, 29, of Elsmere, died at 4:23 p.m. Thursday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a technician with Air Central heating and air conditioning company.

Tara Elaine Manning, 15, died Sunday at her home.

Arthur "Ott" Murphy, 75, of Corinth, died at 3:35 p.m. Sunday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence.

Franklin Pierce Pfanstiel Jr., 90, of Elsmere, died Friday at Jewish Hospital, Clermont County, Ohio. He was a retired painter and an Army veteran of World War II. His wife, Esther Burton Pfanstiel preceded him in death.
Survivors include a sister, Evelyn Pfanstiel Riley of Lexington; and a brother, Albert Pfanstiel of Cincinnati.
Services were this morning at Peoples Funeral Home, Falmouth. Burial was in Gardnersville Cemetery, Pendleton County. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.
Evalee Anderson Ratcliff, 72, of Norwood, Ohio, and formerly of Monticello, died at 4:12 p.m. Sunday at Hospice of Cincinnati, Inc. in Blue Ash, Ohio. She was a retired employee of C.W. Zumbiel Co., Norwood. Her husband, James E. Ratcliff, died in 1998.
Survivors include her sister, Nova Crabtree of Monticello and brother, Schuyler Anderson of Coopersville.

Helen C. Schneider, 90, of Florence, died at 4:12 a.m. Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
She was a retired legal secretary with several Covington attorneys.

Terry Lee Taylor, 47, of Covington, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North in Covington. He was a self-employed blacksmith. His father, Walter J. Taylor, died in 1984.
