Ruby Stewart, teacher, counselor
For many years, Ruby B. Stewart taught school in Boone County and Cincinnati.
Beginning with elementary students in Hebron, Mrs. Stewart taught for decades before becoming a guidance counselor.
She enjoyed being with children, said her sister, Mamie Warfield of Latonia.
"She was a lovely person. She was kind and good and tried to help everybody, " Ms. Warfield said.
Mrs. Stewart, 83, of Fort Thomas, died Sunday at St. Luke Hospital East in Fort Thomas.
She was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church in Southgate.
Her first husband, B. Frank Johnson Jr., died in 1974. Her second husband, Ernest Stewart, died in 1990.
Mrs. Stewart was born in Mount Vernon and moved to Northern Kentucky with her family when she was a child.
Her older sister, Ms. Warfield, said Mrs. Stewart was a good mother who looked out for other family members as well.
"She was a calm person, but she knew how to express herself, " Ms. Warfield said.

Besides her sister, Mrs. Stewart also is survived by her daughters, Linda Morgan of Hillsboro, Ohio, and Carol Sebree of Lexington; ; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Visitation will begin there at noon Wednesday.
Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.

Richard "Dick" H. Bodde, 75, of Latonia died Today at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North Hospice Unit in Covington.
Arrangements are pending at Connley Brothers Funeral Home Latonia.
Judy Carol Colemire Bravard, 49, of Augusta, died Sunday in an auto accident in Mason County. She was a newspaper carrier for The Kentucky Post and a member of Church of the Nazarene, Augusta.
Survivors include her husband, Donald Lee Bravard; sons, Chris Bravard of Maysville and Jeff Bravard of Augusta; a daughter, Angie Davis of Brooksville; brothers, Larry Colemire, Stevie Colemire and Terry Colemire, all of Maysville, Mike Colemire of Orangeburg and Johnny Colemire of Florence; a sister, Sherri Logan of Nicholasville; and one grandson.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Moore and Parker Funeral Home, Augusta. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sharon Cemetery, Augusta. Memorials are suggested to Church of the Nazarene, Augusta, Ky. 41002.
Paul "Buddy" "Vic" Franklin Carroll, 62, of Covington, died at 7 p.m. Monday at Anderson Hospital, Cincinnati. He was a former manager at Earl Schibe, Cincinnati and former manager at Maaco Auto Body, Covington, a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church, Taylor Mill.
Survivors include his son, Daniel Paul Carroll of Cincinnati; daughter, Paula Ann Scott of Covington; stepsons, Ric Carroll and Kenneth Robert Martin, both of Covington; sister, Beverly Setters of Florida; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at noon Wednesday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services Wednesday at the funeral home. Norma Jean Coghill, 68, of Carrollton, died Monday at Carroll County Memorial Hospital in Carrollton. She was a former employee of Ison Brothers Furniture Co. and a member of Calvary Apostolic Church, Carrollton.
Survivors include her husband, Dale Coghill; a sister, Hazel Ball of Carrollton; and a brother, Stanley Jones of Phoenix.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Calvary Apostolic Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight and from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Carrollton.
Maxine R. Haley, 76, of Brooksville, died Monday at Harrison Memorial Hospital, Cynthiana. She was a seamstress with Jockey International and a member of Powersville Christian Church.
Survivors include several cousins.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Powersville Christian Church. Visitation will begin there at noon Wednesday. Burial will be in Brooksville Cemetery.
Jo Pease Hill, 81, of Ludlow, died Monday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington. She was an office nurse in Pasadena, Texas. Her first husband, Claude Pease, died in 1985. Her second husband, Bruce Hill, died in 1988.
Survivors include a son, Kenneth Sharp of Ludlow; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Church of Christ, Covington. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Grand View Memorial Park, Pasadena. Thurman "Nick" Howard, 89, of Mount Sterling, formerly of Cynthiana, died Monday at Mary Chiles Hospital in Mount Sterling. He was a retired farmer. His wife, Mary Sharp Howard, and a son, Ronald Howard, both preceded him in death.
Survivors include sons, Harold Howard and James Howard, both of Cynthiana; a daughter, Ethelyn Schandling of North Middletown; brothers, Claude Howard and Wilmer Howard, both of Harrison County; sisters, Sarah Jones, Wanda Mattox and Evelyn Mattox, all of Harrison County; 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at noon Wednesday at Battle Grove Cemetery, Cynthiana. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Drake Funeral Home, Cynthiana.
Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Minogue, 88, of Fort Wright, died at 6 a.m. Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a retired secretary with Equitable Life Insurance Co., Cincinnati, and a member of the Ladies Sodality at Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption in Covington and the Fort Wright Civic Club. Her husband, Vincent J. Minogue, died in 1991.
Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Skelton of Burlington; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption. Entombment will be in St. Mary Mausoleum, Fort Mitchell. Melvin Garnett Paynter, 75, of Cynthiana, died Sunday at Edgemont Manor Nursing Home in Cynthiana. He was a retired truck driver and a World War II veteran.
Survivors include sons, Randell Len Paynter of Walton and Ricky Andre Paynter of Harrison County; a daughter, Susan Diane Morton of Boone County; a brother, Calvin T. Paynter of Georgetown; a sister, LaVaughn Maybrier of Cynthiana; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

James M. Rohan, 74, of Cincinnati, formerly of Ludlow, died Saturday at his home. He was a railroad engineer with Southern Railway, and past president of the Southern Ohio Railway Union. He was a member of Sts. Boniface and James Church, Ludlow, and a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War. His wife, Janet Rohan, preceded him in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Susan Wiethorn of Cincinnati; sons, Mark Rohan of Lexington, Pat Rohan of Hamilton, Ohio, Michael Rohan of Madison, Wis., Steve Rohan of Erlanger, and Sean Rohan, Tin Rohan and Kelly Rohan, all of Ludlow; sisters, Renie Schmidtz of Bromley; Virginia Knocleman, Kathleen Britton and Eillen Waymeyer, all of Ludlow; a brother, Thomas Rohan of Lexington; 18 grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Mary Catherine "Kay" Willenborg, 61, of Florence, died Sunday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Clyde Willenborg; sons, Mark Willenborg and Brian Willenborg, both of Erlanger, and Kevin Willenborg and Daniel Willenborg, both of Florence; a daughter, Lori Moore of Florence; sisters, Juanita Reinhart of Crestiew Hills, Audrey Wiley of Kissemmee, Fla., and Kathleen "Bunny" Wynn of Ludlow; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.
