Nancy Kalb, businesswoman
Nancy C. Kalb was an outspoken proponent of women's rights and a well-respected businesswoman. At home, she was quiet and family oriented.
Mrs. Kalb, 65, of Erlanger, died at 6:18 p.m. Saturday at St. Luke Hospital West in Florence.
She was a retired manager with Hillrise Community Retirement Home in Cincinnati and an employee of the Florence City Tax Department. She was a member of Christ's Chapel Assembly of God in Erlanger and a past president of Cincinnati Business and Professional Women's Club.
"Every time I hear someone talk about my mom, they say what a good woman she was, " said her son, Karl F. Kalb of Covington.
Mr. Kalb said he remembers his mom as always being fair, someone who taught him "to keep your mind open and not be afraid to take a few chances."
Mrs. Kalb was a homemaker when her family was young. After the last of her children ws born, she went to work at Shillito's and forged a career that led her to management.
She held various posts in the Business and Professional Women's Club and was active in supporting adoption of the proposed Equal Rights Amendment in the 1970s.
She was artistic and began painting during the latter part of her life.
She battled kidney failure and cancer for the past five years.
A daughter, Charlotte King of Burlington, said she will always remember her mother's determination.
"She was just a gutsy lady, " Ms. King said. "The loss is phenomenal."
In addition to Mr. Kalb and Ms. King, survivors include a son, Charles Wayne Kalb of Erlanger; a daughter Mary Christine O'Rourke of Erlanger; a brother, Donald Tolle of Bodfish, Calif.; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Hebron. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Hebron Lutheran Cemetery.

Pat Price Baker, 57, of Sparta, died Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood. She was a waitress with Bun Boy Restaurant, Warsaw, and a member of Pleasant Home Baptist Church, Glencoe.
Survivors include daughters, Deborah Hamilton of Glencoe, Shonda Poland of Hebron and Karen Utley of Florence; a sister, Louise Tuggle of New Liberty; two grandsons; and her fiancee, Loyal Sears of Sparta.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Carlton-Lowder Funeral Home, Warsaw. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glencoe Cemetery. Sarah Lucille Banks, 64, of Worthville, died Sunday at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include daughters, Eva Rock of Indianapolis and Diana Dean of Florida; brothers, James Lucas of Carrollton, Walker Lucas and George Lucas, both of Worthville; sisters, Nell Reynolds of Ocean Springs, Miss., Shirley Oder and Brenda Crutcher, both of Carrollton, Reva Battise of Woolmarket, Miss., and Fred Barrett of Diville, Miss.; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Graham-Dunn Funeral Home, Carrollton. Burial will be in Worthville Cemetery.
Vinina Lee "Tiny" "Nina" Brown, 76, of Villa Hills, died wednesday at a family home in Crittenden County.
Survivors include a brother, Jim Brown of Marion; sisters, Erma House and Faye Hall, both of Eddyville, and Mary Kaelin of Erlanger; and a friend, Harry "Bill" Marksberry of Covington.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Boyd Funeral Home, Salem. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Asbridge Cemetery, Salem.
James A. Geiman Jr., 16, of Cold Spring, died at 4:15 a.m. Sunday in Cold Spring in an auto accident.
He was a junior at Campbell County High School, where he was a member of the Pep Club, and varsity football and track teams.
Survivors include his parents, James A. and Rosanne Ruschman Geiman; a sister, Jill Geiman of Cold Spring; a brother, Andy Geiman of Cold Spring; and grandparents, Ray and Rita Wolfzorn Ruschman of Newport.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Campbell County High School Gymnasium, Alexandria. Stanley Robert Grau, 85, of Fort Thomas, died Saturday at Highlands of Fort Thomas nursing home. He was owner of P.G. Macintosh Co. and a member of Fort Thomas Lions Club, 32nd Degree Masons, Fort Thomas Masonic Lodge No. 808, Syrian Shrine, Cincinnati, and Christ Church United Church of Christ, Fort Thomas.
Survivors include a son, Stanley O. Grau of Fort Thomas; a daughter, Susan Pelle of Cold Spring; and two grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Christ Church United Church of Christ, Fort Thomas. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate. Dobbling Funeral Home, Fort Thomas, is handling arrangements.
Robert F. Hagedorn, 90, of Villa Hills, died at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Woodland Hills Care Center in Lawrenceburg, Ind. He was a retired postal clerk with the U.S. Postal Service in Cincinnati and an Army veteran of World War II. His wife, Princella Hagedorn, died in 1979.
Survivors include a son, David R. Hagedorn of Villa Hills; and a sister, Stella Carrigan of Erlanger.
Private services will be at the convenience of the family. Cremation will be at Hillside Chapel, Cincinnati. Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia, is handling arrangements.

Joseph J. Lucas, 105, of Fort Mitchell, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North in Covington. He was co-owner of Central Engineering and an Army veteran of World War I.
Survivors include a sister, Annette T. Lucas of Fort Wright; a niece and a nephew.
Services were Friday at St. Charles Care Center, Covington. Burial was in Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright. Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington, handled arrangements.
Haron "Jack" Mitchell, 80, of Covington, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North in Covington. He was a retired auto mechanic and World War II veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Florence Schwer Mitchell; a son, Mark Mitchell of Covington; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Radel Funeral Home, Newport. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Entombment will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright.
Michael Mounts, 39, of Florence, died at 7:48 a.m. Saturday in an auto accident in Bowling Green. He was a truck driver with MCA in Cincinnati and a member of Fairlane Baptist Church, Grants Lick.
Survivors include his wife, Roberta Ann Lane Mounts; sons, Anthony Michael Mounts and Roger William Mounts, both at home; his mother, Joyce Mounts of Taylor Mill; and brothers, Shelby Mounts of Sterling, Okla., Jimmy W. Mounts of Dry Ridge and Stan M. Mounts of Taylor Mill.

Melvin "Sam" W. Mueller, 81, of Bellevue, died Sunday at St. Luke Hospital East in Fort Thomas.
He was a sales representative with Saalfeld Paper Co. and Audons Florist, Bellevue, and an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Bellevue Vets.
Survivors include his wife, Winifred Mueller; daughters, Debera Bertsche and Celeste Naber, both of Cincinnati, and Melissa Whitford of Latonia; a son, Marcellus Mueller of Long Island, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren and one great- grandchild.

William Ray Spencer, 41, of Carrollton, died Sunday at his home. He was an employee of Elf Atochem Plant, Carrollton, and a Navy veteran.
Survivors include a son, Taylor Spencer of Holladay, Utah; his mother, Elsie Ray of Carrollton; a brother, Wayne Spencer of Thompson Station, Tenn.; and sisters, Sandra Spencer and Paula Hanlon, both of Carrollton, and Judy Kemper of Worthville.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at IOOF Cemetery, Carrollton. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at Graham-Dunn Funeral Home, Carrollton.
Edna Mae Williams, 85, of Florence, died at 11:35 p.m. Sunday at St. Luke Hospital West in Florence. She was a retired cashier with the former Albers Supermarket in Erlanger, and a member of Elsmere Church of Christ. Her husband, Charles H. Williams, died in 1983.
Survivors include sons, Charles Samuel Williams of Burlington and Edwin D. Williams of Petersburg; a sister, Virginia Fitzer of Highland Heights; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
