William Wentz, lived his dream of country life
William H. Wentz worked for years to build his dream home in Boone County.
He grew up in Boone County when it was rural, then moved to Erlanger, but soon wanted to return to the country, said his brother, Richard E. Wentz of Fort Mitchell.
He saved money to buy land out in the county, then worked to earn enough money to build a house on the property.
Mr. Wentz and his wife spent their entire lives working on that farm, his brother said.
Mr. Wentz liked hunting, fishing and growing things. Part of his 110-acre farm was devoted to a garden where he tried to grow different varieties of wildflowers. More than half of the farm remains in its natural state and has become a habitat for many bird species. Some 30 wild turkeys roam his land.
Over the past few years, Mr. Wentz developed an interest in NASCAR and made several trips to the Daytona 500.
