Robert Wood, restaurant owner
Robert E. Wood operated restaurants in Fort Thomas and Newport for many years.
But he may have been just as well-known for his love of classic '50s cars, said his stepdaughter, Lisa Masters of Fort Thomas.
"He especially liked '55 and '57 Thunderbirds. I guess they reminded him of growing up, " Ms. Masters said. "He would buy them and restore them and we drove them all over the place."
Mr. Wood, 63, of Fort Thomas, died Wednesday at Community General Osteopathic Hospital in Harrisburg, Pa.
He was the former owner of Summit Lodge restaurant in Fort Thomas and The Lodge restaurant in Newport.
Both restaurants have since closed, Ms. Masters said, but she remembers them being open from the time she was a child.
Mr. Wood grew up in Fort Thomas, Ms. Masters said.
"He always had a story to tell. He could talk up a streak, " Ms. Masters said. "He was well-known about town.
He was a good family man."
Other survivors include his wife, Janice Wood of Fort Thomas; daughter, Jennifer Story of Ewing; sons, Brian Wood and Robert Wood, both of Fort Thomas; stepson, Robert Ziegler of Alexandria; sister, Carolyn Kennedy of Fort Thomas; and 12 grandchildren.
Services will be at noon Monday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Fort Thomas.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services Monday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Alexandria Cemetery.
Harry Armstrong, 83, of Morning View, died Wednesday at Rosedale Manor, Latonia.
He was a farmer, a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Kenton County, and a member of the Kenton County Fair Board.
His wife, Mildred Armstrong, preceded him in death.
Survivors include stepdaughters, Joyce Wilson of Amelia, Ohio, Linda Frederick of Morgantown, W.Va., Patricia Workman of Independence, Donna Griffin of Fort Mitchell and Judi Rice of Visalia.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Independence.
Burial will be in Independence Cemetery.
Mary Bayless, 80, of Fort Wright, died at 11:55 p.m. Wednesday at St. Charles Care Center, Fort Wright.
She was a homemaker, member of St. Agnes Church, Fort Wright, Hope Cottage Guild, Christ Hospital Auxiliary and was a volunteer at Second Time Around Shop in St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Bayless, in 1987.
Survivors include sons, James M. Bayless of Fort Thomas, Michael J. Bayless of Covington and P. Christopher Bayless of Crestview Hills; daughters, Penny Rogers of Lilburn, Ga., Sandy Gleeson of Fort Mitchell and Linda Ochs of Park Hills; sister, Mildred "Tootie" Stone of Crestview Hills; 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 7 p.m. Monday at St. Agnes Church.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington.
Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.

George H. Leftwich, 77, of Cincinnati, died Thursday.
Survivors include his daughter, Babette Norris of Covington, and two grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Joseph Cemetery, Eighth Street and Seton Avenue, Cincinnati.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.

James Moyer, 54, of Highland Heights, died Thursday at his home.
He was an accountant for Monmouth Federal, a member of Latonia American Legion and a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his son, David Moyer of Highland Heights; mother, Emma "May" Moyer of Highland Heights; brothers, Charles Moyer of Franklin, Tenn., Edward "Butch" Moyer of California and Glynn Moyer of Melbourne; and sister, Nancy Wood of Melbourne.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Fort Thomas.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of services Monday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Alexandria Cemetery.

Rev. Emeric Pfiester, 78, formerly of Covington, died Sept. 30 in Latrobe, Pa.
He was pastor of St. Benedict Church, Covington.
Survivors include a brother, Joseph Pfiester of Berkley, Mich., and sister, Sister Mary Martha, RSM, of Dallas, Pa.
Evening prayer and memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at St. Benedict Church.

Noel Earnest Sharp, 93, formerly of Erlanger, died at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Gallatin Health Care Center, Warsaw.

Linda Rose Whitley, 50, of Erlanger, died at 3:31 p.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
She was a homemaker; member of St. Anthony Church, Taylor Mill; and a member of the Women's Auxiliary of the Erlanger Fire Department.
Survivors include her husband, William R. Whitley of Erlanger; son, Andrew William Whitley of Florence; mother, Beatrice Reed of Taylor Mill; brothers, Jim M.D. Reed and Daniel Reed, both of Taylor Mill; and two grandchildren.
