Edwin Dusing, ran ice company
Edwin J. Dusing's grandchildren used to crowd around him at EEE Swim Club in Erlanger when they were young and share small cups of chocolate malt ice cream with their grandfather.
It was the type of ice cream you ate with a little wooden spoon, recalls Mr. Dusing's granddaughter, Nicole Dusing, 20, of Villa Hills.
"We would get one (cup), and we would all share it. We would wait our turns to get the ice cream from Papaw."
Mr. Dusing, of Erlanger, laughed a lot and loved to play with his grandkids. "He was just a really lovable guy, " Miss Dusing said. "I remember him smiling and laughing a lot. He was very affectionate."
Mr. Dusing, 80, died at 3:10 a.m. Monday at St. Charles Care Center, Covington.
He had helped found and was a former owner of Dusing Brothers Ice Manufacturing Co., Erlanger. He worked there all his life, Miss Dusing said.
Mr. Dusing was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of St. Henry Church in Elsmere, the Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus and Prime Time Senior Citizens.
He enjoyed reading, and playing golf.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Betty Brown Dusing; daughters, Nancy Slack of El Cajon, Calif., and Joan Stark of Fort Mitchell; sons, Paul Dusing of Florence and Ralph Dusing of Villa Hills; sisters, Anna Mae Cunningham of Covington, Loretta McKinley of Ludlow and Florence Farmer of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a brother, Franklin Dusing of Covington; and 10 grandchildren.
Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be at 7 p.m. Friday at St. Henry Church, Elsmere. A reception will follow in Egbring Hall. Mr. Dusing bequeathed his body to the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Memorials are suggested to World War II Veterans Memorial Fund, P. O. Ralph W. Adams, 77, of Venice, Fla., formerly of Fort Mitchell, died at 3:15 p.m. Sunday at Bon Secom Hospital, Venice. He was an asbestos worker and a member of Newport Lodge No. 538 F&AM, Indra Consistory Scottish Rite, Rosebud Chapter No. 39 Order of the Eastern Star, Order of Amaranth Queen Esther Court No. 21, and Cincinnati Syrian Temple Shrine, where he was a member of the drum and bugle corps.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Sue Adams; sons, Michael Adams and Ralph W. Adams Jr., both of Calvin, Pa., and Christopher Adams of Villa Hills; daughters, Sherry Seger of Williamstown, Joy Jones of Williamstown and Mary Grubbs of Dry Ridge; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger. Albert W. Breuer, 83, of Fort Thomas, died Monday at his home. He was a book binding supervisor and an Army veteran of World War II. His wife, Rea Koenig Breuer, preceded him in death.
Survivors include sisters, Florence Allen of Yonkers, N.Y., June Colwell and Rene Labie, both of Fort Thomas, Helen Peterson of Dayton and Katherine Weherberger of Hillsdale, N.J.; and brothers, Croften Breuer of Dunwoody, Ga., James Breuer of Palm Harbor, Fla., and Robert Breuer of Whitestone, N.Y. Services will be at noon Thursday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.
Jean Marie Bryant, 38, of Butler, died Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.
Arrangements are pending at Peoples Funeral Home, Butler.
Dora Caldwell, 95, of Newport, died at 6:30 a.m. Saturday at Deaconess Hospital, Cincinnati. She was a homemaker. A son, Eugene Petty, died on Aug. 19.
Survivors include daughters, Joan Hurry, Ethel Mae Jewell and Polly Petty, all of Cincinnati; a son, Ernest Caldwell of Newport; 16 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Second Baptist Church, Newport. Visitation will begin there at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Linden Grove Cemetery, Covington. Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Newport, is handling arrangements.
Arthur Lee High, 74, of Augusta, died Monday at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington. He was retired from Browning Manufacturing Co., Maysville, and a Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He was a member of Augusta Presbyterian Church. His wife, Geraldine Waters High, died in 1998.
Survivors include a son, Bill High of Brooksville; a daughter, Carla Logsdon of Versailles; sisters, Mary England and Naomi Ruf, both of Augusta, Cathern Mains of Crothersville, Ind., and Wilma Jones of Foster; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Metcalfe-Hennessey Funeral Home, Augusta. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Concord Cemetery, Bladeston. Lester "Pappy" Thurman Inabnit, 71, of Dry Ridge, died Tuesday at his home. He was a retired bus driver with Transit Authority of Northern Kentucky and a member of Grant County High School Sports Boosters. A son, Donnie Inab nit, and daughter, Connie Inabnit, both died in 1959.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane Inabnit; sons, Lester Inabnit of West Liberty, Lonnie Inabnit of Mexico, Rickey Inabnit, John Inabnit, David Inabnit and Jimmy Inabnit, all of Dry Ridge; daughters, Marsha Webster of Hebron, Glenda Fuller and Regina Lockard, both of Dry Ridge and Pamela Gregory of Mount Orab, Ohio; a brother, Chester Inabnit of Ohio; 20 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Julian F. Kinman, 85, of Dry Ridge, died at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday at Grant Manor Nursing Home, Williamstown. He was a retired heavy equipment operator, a farmer, and an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Antioch Church of Christ, Corinth.
Survivors include his wife, Inez Wainscott Kinman; sisters, Dolores Trick and Melrose Martin, both of Dayton, Ohio, and Helen Saltz of Fairfax, Va.; nieces and nephews.

Edith Northcut, 90, of Florence, died Tuesday at Woodspoint Nursing Home, Florence.

George Tony Smith, 38, of Worthville, died Sunday in Newport.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Murphy Smith; daughters, Jennifer Smith and Misty Smith, both of Worthville; a son, Kevin Murphy of Worthville; his mother and stepfather, Carolyn and Henry Holliday of Worthville; his father and stepmother, James and Phyllis Smith of Dayton; brothers, Chuck Smith of Dayton, Jim Smith and Tim Smith, both of Worthville, and Keith Knox of Houston; and sisters, Kimberly Smith and Tina Meece, both of Worthville, and Christina Smith of Dayton.

Clara Patsy "Patty" Spears, 45, of Crittenden, died Tuesday at her home after an extended illness. She was an interior painter and drywall finisher with Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority and a member of Unity Baptist Church, Demossville.
Survivors include her husband, Larry Spears; a son, Billy Joe Stewart of Crittenden; daughters, Theresa Schwerman of Crittenden and Carolyn Brockhoeft of Sanders; her father, Andy Stewart Jr. of Augusta; brothers, Michael E. Stewart of Augusta and Richard Wayne Stewart of Tollesboro; sisters, Aliene Buxel of Harrison, Ohio, Kathleen Thompson of Bellevue, Ella Faye Campbell of Williamstown, Doris Jean Campbell of Cincinnati and Shirley Margaret Wilson and Eva Sue Feinhauer, both of Campbell County; and six grandchildren.

Barbara Ann Stafford, of Bedford, formerly of Ludlow, died Monday at a nursing home in Bedford.

David Lewis Tanner, 76, of Florence, died Monday at Veterans Administration Medical Center, Cincinnati. He was an agent with Western Pioneer Insurance Co., and a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Hopeful Lutheran Church, Boone-Union Masonic Lodge No. 304 F&AM and Indra Consistory Scottish Rite.
Survivors include a son, John J. Tanner of Rowlett, Texas; brothers, Charles M. Tanner of Covington and Joseph Tanner of Independence; and a sister, Alberta Thibodeaux of Calvin, La. Ernestine S. Thomas, 70, of Crestview, died Sunday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. She was a retired employee of the Internal Revenue Service and a Navy veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include a daughter, Alexandra Rekers of Crestview; a son, Robert Thomas Jr. of Crestview; a sister, Angela Sikking of Illinois; and three grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Immanuel Church of the Nazarene, Highland Heights. Ms. Thomas bequeathed her body to the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Helen Jeanette Trankler, 73, of Cincinnati, formerly of Falmouth, died Monday at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati. She was a treasurer with AR Industries and a member of Pine Grove Methodist Church.
