Arthur Hamilton, 88, 'enjoyed life'
Arthur M. Hamilton enjoyed being with his wife and a group of friends who made frequent trips to Kincaid Lake State Park in Pendleton County.
Mr. Hamilton, 88, of Fairview, died at 11:40 p.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North Hospice Unit in Covington.
Mr. Hamilton and his wife, Dortha, were married
52 years. Mrs. Hamilton said her husband was a kind, quiet man who enjoyed long walks and good conversation.
"When he said something, he meant it," Mrs. Hamilton said.
"He loved his church. He never missed a Sunday."
Mr. Hamilton was retired from the maintenance department of Cincinnati Sheet Metal and Roofing Co.
He was a member of DeCourcy Baptist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star in Butler, Latonia Lodge No. 50 DOA, the Indra Consistory of the Scottish Rite in Covington, Demoss Lodge No. 220 F&AM and Amaranths.
Mr. Hamilton was born and raised in Kenton County. He had a close circle of friends and was close to his family, his wife said.
"We enjoyed life and walked and talked," she said.
"He was wonderful. He never gave me a cross word. We encouraged each other."
Besides his wife, Mr. Hamilton is survived by his brothers, Melvin Hamilton of Dayton, Ohio, and Gilbert Hamilton of Clayton, Del.; sisters, Dorothy Myers of Harrison, Ohio, and Jennie McDermott and Norma Ruehmeier, both of Latonia.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery.
Elmer Howard Coates, 87, of Cynthiana, died Friday at the Dover Manor Nursing Home, Georgetown. He was a self-employed sign painter, a member of the Cynthiana Baptist Church, a 50-year member of the St. Andrews Masonic Lodge No. 18 and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Penn Coates of Cynthiana; daughter, Linda Hatterick of Cynthiana and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Drake Funeral Home, Cynthiana. Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Battle Grove Cemetery, Cynthiana. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 508 E. Pike St., Cynthiana, Ky. 41031.
Mary Catherine Gleason, 78, of Independence, died at 8:55 a.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a clerk for Eastman Kodak Co. of Cincinnati and a member of St. Patrick Church, Taylor Mill.
Survivors include her sister-in-law, Ruth Gleason of Florence, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick Church. Visitation will be from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, 6612 Dixie Highway, Suite 2, Florence, Ky. 41042.
Dorothy Slattery Higgins, 83, of Maysville, died at 12:42 p.m. Friday at Meadowview Regional Medical Center, Maysville. She was a manager at the AAA Auto Club in Maysville and a member of St. Patrick Church, Maysville.
Her husband, John A. Higgins, died in 1975. Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick Church. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Brell and Son Funeral Home, Maysville. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Maysville.
Mary Eleanor Huesman, 85, of Fort Mitchell, died at 3:13 a.m. Friday at Village Care Center, Erlanger. She was a retired director for the Department of Welfare, Kenton County, and a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, Fort Mitchell.
Her husband, Harry A. Huesman, and a son, Bill Huesman, both died in 1965. Survivors include her sons, Lee Huesman of Union, Joe Huesman of Walton, Don Huesman of South Wales, Pa., and Tim Huesman of Covington; daughters, Mary Jane Schweitzer of San Antonio, Texas, and Judy Huesman of Erlanger; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Cecilia Church, In dependence. Visitation will be from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday will be in St. Cecilia Cemetery, Independence.

Elsie Metz, 73, of Newport, died Thursday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. She was a homemaker.
Her daughter, Judy Bomonte, preceded her in death. Survivors include her husband, William Metz of Newport; a son, Scott Metz of Newport; daughters, Robin Mullins and Angie Bomonte, both of Newport; sisters, Ruby Williams of Erlanger and Marsha O'Hara of Dayton, Ohio; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Peoples Funeral Home, Grants Lick. Visitation will be from noon until the time of services Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Grants Lick.
Maude Moore, 93, formerly of Ludlow, died FridayS1 in Bloomington, Ind.
Arrangements are pending at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Ludlow.
Jack A. Mossman, 50, of Erlanger, died Thursday at his residence. He was a loan officer for the Cincinnati Financial Group in Florence and a member of the Covington First Church of the Nazarene, Park Hills.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Brown Mossman of Erlanger; a son, Jason Mossman of North Augusta, S.C.; a daughter, Tammi Moore of Hebron; his mother, Madeline Chapman of Kenova, W.Va.; and a stepsister, Connie Jack of Kenova, W.Va.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Covington First Church of the Nazarene. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the time of the services at the church. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to Covington First Church of the Nazarene, 1550 Dixie Highway, Park Hills, Ky. 41011.

Dylan M. Roberts, 6, of Latonia, was found dead at 12:20 a.m. Thursday at Rosedale Pool in Latonia. He was a first-grader at Latonia Elementary School.
Survivors include his parents, Carla Roberts and Michael Cole Sr., both of Latonia; brothers, Michael Cole Jr. and Skylar Cole, both at home; sister, Natasha Cole, at home; grandparents, Jac quelyn Roberts of Taylor Mill, James Roberts of Hebron and Clemmie Cole of Hamilton, Ohio; and great-grandfather, Carl Shortridge of Latonia.
