Howard Ledford, co-founded the Hebron Fire Department
Howard S. Ledford of Florence was a gentleman.
"He was always like, 'Can I do this for you'? He never wanted you to do it," said his wife, Donna Ledford. "He wanted to do it for you. He'd always open the door for you. He just couldn't do enough."
Mr. Ledford died Sunday at his home in Florence. He was 89.
He was a trucking maintenance foreman for the Victor Transit Corp., an Army veteran of World War II, and a member of Florence Baptist Church.
He also was a member of Hebron Masonic Lodge 757 F&AM, and a co-founder of the Hebron Fire Department.
Mr. Ledford liked sports, especially basketball and baseball. And he loved being around his family.
"You couldn't ask for anyone better," Mrs. Ledford said.
Other survivors include his son, Lacey C. Ledford of Hebron; sisters, Hazel Holman of Lexington, Mary E. Roberts of Hebron and Ellen Rollings of Jacksonville, Fla.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Mausoleum Chapel at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger. Visitation will be from noon until the time of services Wednesday. Entombment will be in Forest Lawn Mausoleum.

Maxine Francisco Arnold, 85, of Williamstown, died at 2:30 a.m. today at her home.

William J. Curran, 63, of Covington, died at 4:07 p.m. Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He retired as a dispatcher from Coca-Cola Co. in Cincinnati and was a member of St. Anthony Church, Taylor Mill.
Survivors include his son, Bob Curran of Taylor Mill; daughters, Teri Arnold of Burlington, Debbie Curran of Taylor Mill and Cindy Curran of Crescent Springs; and a grandson.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.
Paul Bradley Daut, 55, of Florence, died Sunday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. He was a real estate broker and a member of St. Paul Church, Florence.
Survivors include his son, Brad Daut of Florence; daughters, Lisa Daut and Pam Daut, both of Florence; mother, Alice Wayman of Erlanger; brothers, Gene Daut of Cincinnati, Jim Daut of Richwood, Mark Daut of Hebron and Tom Daut of Burlington; and a granddaughter.
Services will be at 7 p.m. today at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until the time of services today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hopeful Lutheran Cemetery, Florence.
Sedrick Farley, 61, of Corinth, died Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was self-employed as a construction worker.
Survivors include his son, Kenneth Farley of Georgetown and his sister, Helen Jones of Corinth.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Rogers Funeral Home, Corinth. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in New Columbus Cemetery, Corinth.
Jessie J. Fields Jr., 48, of Elletsville, Ind., and formerly of Maysville, died Friday at Bloomington Hospital, Bloomington, Ind. He was manufacturing supervisor of Otis Elevator in Bloomington. He was a member of the Elks Lodge No. 446 and Elletsville Masonic Lodge No. 245.
Survivors include his wife, Jan Gettler Fields of Elletsville; daughter, Annette Fields of Bloomington; son, Eric Fields of Bloomington; mother, Maxine King Fields of Tollesboro; brothers, Bill Fields of Maysville and Darrell H. Fields of Tollesboro; sisters, Diana Heflin of Foxport and Kathy Mullins of Lexington; and three grandchildren.

James "Gene" Frost, 62, of Latonia, died Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington.

Leona Hammond, 90, of Frankfort and formerly of Owen County, died Sunday at her home. She was a homemaker and was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Hammond, in 1989.

Patrick Henry Hartbarger Sr., 75, of Covington, died Friday at his home. He was a retired dispatcher with Yellow Cab Co., Covington. His wife, Helen Hartbarger, died in 1980.

Clarice Mildred Jenkins, 84, of Corinth, died Monday at Grant Manor Health Care Center, Williamstown. She was a homemaker, an employee of McGregor Ball Factory, Williamstown and a member of Corinth Christian Church, Corinth. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Jenkins, in 1986.
Survivors include her brother, Homer Brown of Corinth and several nieces and nephews.

Billie Elizabeth Kiser, 82, of Bellevue, died Sunday at her home. She was a retired nurse's aide for Booth Hospital, member of Senior Citizens of Northern Kentucky and member of Bellevue Calvary Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Eldon S. Kiser.
Survivors include her sons, Edward Kiser of Fort Thomas and Gordon Kiser of Shepardsville; sister, Margie Frye of Cincinnati; brother, Joe Nordwick of Alexandria; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Marian C. Partin, 84, of Fort Thomas, died Sunday at the Highlands of Fort Thomas Nursing Home. She was a homemaker, member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church, Fort Thomas, former president of the Johnson School PTA, former City Clerk of Fort Thomas, member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church Alter Guild.
Survivors include her daughter, Susan Hart of Manteca, Calif.; sons, C. Fred Partin of Louisville and Douglas Partin of Cincinnati; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Franklin L. Rodgers, 80, of Florence, died at 3:20 p.m. Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Rodgers, in 1992.

Saundra Gail Rothfuss, 46, of Elsmere, died at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at her home. She was a waitress for BB Riverboats.

George R. Shaw, 83, of Alexandria, died Saturday at his home. He was a retired employee of Ryder Truck Rental in St. Bernard, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy M. Burris Shaw, in 1988.

Survivors include his daughters, Kathy Wehry of Covington, Helene Lafferty of Hamilton, Ohio, and Barbara Copley of Latonia; sister, Cecilia Knoebber of Frankfort; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
