Melissa Needham 'touched everybody's heart'
Melissa Ann Needham loved to write poetry and stories and did a portfolio on her battle with bulimia for her senior project in high school, an effort she hoped would help others fighting eating disorders.
That was the type of person she was, says her mother, Mary Beth Klug of Silver Grove. She was always wanting to help others.
"She always seemed to think about everybody else's problems. She touched everybody's heart, even if it was for a brief second," said Ms. Klug.
Miss Needham, 19, of Fort Thomas, fought bulimia for about four years. The disorder claimed her life Tuesday at her home.
Miss Needham was graduated from Silver Grove High School and was headed to Northern Kentucky University.
She had a few close friends, but knew many people, young and old, said Ms. Klug.
"She had a lot of people out there for her," Ms. Klug said.
"She knew how to make people laugh, and she always listened."
She loved jigsaw and crossword puz zles, word searches, crafts and music.
She was a member of St. Gertrude Church, Cincinnati. Her father, Paul Raymond Needham, died in 1982.
In addition to her mother, survivors include a brother, Andrew Michael Klug of Silver Grove; a sister, Sarah Elizabeth Klug of Silver Grove; and grandparents, Elva Lee Klug of Madeira, Ohio, and Edward Needham of Jekyll Island, Fla.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Gertrude Church, Cincinnati.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Bellevue.
Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Milford, Ohio.

Harold William Cooper, 74, of Augusta, died at 12:10 p.m. Tuesday at his home. He was a farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Josie Gillespie Cooper; sons, Roger Wayne Cooper, Bradley Allen Cooper and Jackie Arnold Cooper, all of Augusta, Roby William Cooper of Germantown and John Leo Cooper of Maysville; daughters, Joann Cooper Thomas of Prattville, Ala., Mary Grace Cooper of Maysville and Francis Darlene Cooper Deatley of Augusta; sisters, Garnett Riggs and Irene Finister; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Moore and Parker Funeral Home, Augusta. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bracken Memorial Cemetery, Brooksville. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Hope, 1 W. McDonald Parkway, Maysville, Ky. 41056.
Leona Whitaker Jett, 87, of Carrollton, died Tuesday at her home. She was a homemaker and a member of Apostolic Pentecostal Church, Trimble County. Her husband, Chester Jett, died in 1961.
Survivors include a stepson, Tommy Jett of Lexington, Ind.; and 12 grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Graham-Dunn Funeral Home, Carrollton. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Carrollton.
Andrew William Kramer, son of Lisa Dietz Kramer of Alexandria, was stillborn at 1:26 p.m. Tuesday at University Hospital, Cincinnati. His father, Bill Kramer, died on July 9.
Other survivors include grandparents, John and Betty Dietz of Lakeside Park and Jerry and Joan Kramer of Alexandria.
Services will be at the convenience of the family. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice. Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas, is handling arrangements.
Aldora Cracraft Ray, 95, of Sardis, died at 3:20 p.m. Wednesday at Robertson County Health Care Center, Mount Olivet.
She was retired from L. S. Ayres in Indianapolis and a member of Sardis United Methodist Church. Her husband, Emmitt C. Ray, died in 1985.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Palmer Funeral Home, Mays Lick. Visitation will begin there at noon Saturday. Burial will be in Shannon Cemetery, Mays Lick.
Cory Lee Richardson, 3, of Covington, died at 10:15 p.m. Tuesday at Children's Hospital, Cincinnati.
He was a member of St. Augustine Church, Covington.
Survivors include his parents, Patrick Michael and Sherri Lynn Franzen Richardson of Covington; a brother, Collin Patrick Richardson, at home; grandparents, Patrick and Margie Richardson of Covington, Victor and Ruth Hessling of Covington and Steven and Cindy Franzen of Camp Springs; and great-grandparents, Margaret Krebs of Covington, Edwin and Agnes Schultz of Melbourne, Robert and Alberta Franzen of Camp Springs, Patricia Hessling of Covington and Gerry Grant of Cincinnati.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Augustine Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia. Prayers will be at 8:45 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright.

Aleene Elizabeth Taylor, 89, of Paducah and formerly of Fort Wright, died Wednesday at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home, Rock Hill, S.C.
She was a sales clerk for Bankhardt's Luggage, a member of the Madison Avenue Christian Church, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert W. Taylor, in 1966, and a son, Albert W. Taylor Jr., in 1993.
Survivors include her sons, John A. "Jack" Taylor and William E. Taylor, both of Charlotte, N.C.; sisters, Ginny Marquette Weber of Kissimmee, Fla., and Isabelle Lowell of Walton; brother, Milton Taylor of Lexington; 10 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and two great- great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to Broadway Methodist Church, 701 Broadway Ave., Paducah, Ky. 42001.

Larry J. Woods, 60, of Pottstown, Pa., formerly of Florence, died Sept. 9 at his home.
He was a former employee of Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. and Super Fresh Supermarkets, both of Pottstown, and a member of St. Aloysius Church in Pottstown. He was an Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Buckwalter Woods; a son, Gregory S. Woods of Lower Pottsgrove Township, Pa.; daughters, M. Susan Woods of Allentown, Pa., Megan A. McMenamin and Kathleen D. Woods, both of Lower Pottsgrove Township; sisters, Kathleen K. Woods and Allee Kreidler, both of Florence, and Mary Lou Wright of Erlanger; a brother, Eddie Ray Wood of Erlanger; and six grandchildren.
Services were Wednesday at St. Aloysius Church. Burial was in St. Aloysius New Cemetery, Lower Pottsgrove Township.

Linda Wright-Adcock, 52, of Covington, died at 7:35 p.m. Monday at her home. She was a self-employed cosmetologist.
Survivors include her husband, Dave Adcock; a daughter, Annette Shoemaker Forlines of Atlanta; a son, Kevin Shoemaker of Fort Mitchell; sisters, Beverly Wright Smith of Union and Susan Fuller of Wilmington, N.C.; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Lucy Run Cemetery, Batavia Township, Ohio.

Brian Wayne York, 23, of Florence, died Tuesday at his home. He was a laborer.
Survivors include a daughter, McKayla York of Erlanger; his parents, Adrey B. York and Cynthia K. York, both of Florence; sisters, Deborah K. Hilyer of Dallas, Ga., and Christina M. York of Erlanger; brothers, Craig D. York of Florence and Marc A. York of Newport; grandparents, Catherine C. Wells of Covington, and Merlyn and Oneita York of Cincinnati; and great-grandmother, Vivian Craft of Newport.
