Louise Hoffman McGrath enjoyed people, activities
The Rev. Richard McGrath said someone told him Tuesday he could imagine the clergyman's mother socializing in heaven, and the McGrath agreed.
His mother would be just as active there as she was here, he said.
Louise Hoffman McGrath, 96, of Southgate, died at 1:15 a.m. Thursday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Therese Altar Society and St. Therese Over 50 Club. She also was a member of the Southgate Super Seniors and St. Gemma Guild.
People will remember Mrs. McGrath's friendly personality and her willingness to help others, her son said.
She was outgoing and "just enjoyed people," he said.
She liked going to theaters and parties, playing bingo, and going out to lunch with friends, McGrath said.
She had a wonderful sense of humor, even in her later years. But, she also knew a lot about hard work and sacrifice.
"She was always making sacrifices for us," McGrath said, recalling his childhood. "She worked all of her life."
Her husband, George R. McGrath, died in 1964. Sons, Thomas McGrath, Michael McGrath, Robert McGrath and James McGrath, also preceded her in death.
In addition to her son, a Southgate resident, survivors include a daughter, Nancy Roderick of Fort Thomas; 21 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 1:30 a.m. Monday at St. Therese Church, Southgate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas.
Prayers will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Wilder.
Memorials are suggested to St. John the Baptist Church, Wilder, Ky. 41071 or the charity of the donor's choice.
Gladie Marie Anderson, 90, of Taylor Mill, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include sons, Andy Anderson of Covington, Ray Anderson of Union, George Anderson of Walton and Homer Anderson of Dry Ridge; daughters, Priscilla Losey of Walton, Faye Richardson of Independence and Judy Jones of Taylor Mill; 24 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, 21 great-great- grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Crittenden Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, in care of Vicki Jump, P. O. Box 335, Williamstown, Ky. 41097.
Edith Coburn Callihan, 94, of Cynthiana, died Thursday at Edgemont Manor Nursing Home in Cynthiana.
She was a retired Steckler's Clothing Store employee and a member of First Presbyterian Church, Ashland. Her husband, Harry Mitchell Callihan, and a daughter, Elizabeth Ann "Libby" Callihan Waltshall, both preceded her in death.
Survivors include a granddaughter, Ann Mitchell "Chip" Waltshall of Bourbon County.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church, Ashland. Visitation will begin there at 12:30 Sunday.

Dolores J. Garrett, 71, of Covington, died Tuesday at University Hospital, Cincinnati. She was a member of St. Paul A.M.E. Zion Church, Covington.
Survivors include sons, Michael Garrett, David Garrett and Norman Garrett; sisters, Virginia Fox and Safia Abdullah; brothers, Donald Lewis, Alphonso Lewis and John Lewis; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul A.M.E. Zion Church. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Jones and Simpson Funeral Home, Covington. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.
Blanche Geiman, 89, of Cold Spring, died at 4:55 a.m. Monday in Brooksville.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary Mother's Club, Alexandria. A son, Melvin Geiman, died in 1962.
Survivors include her husband, Louis Geiman; daughters, Joyce Geiman of Crestivew and Gloria Auckerman of Brooksville; sons, Paul Geiman of Cold Spring, David Geiman of Highland Heights and William Geiman of Hebron and Wayne Geiman of Mentor; a sister, Anna Mae Torres of Louisville; a brother, Edward Saner of Melbourne; 22 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial was this morning at St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring. Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery, Cold Spring. Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas, is handling arrangements.
June C. Grivetti, 72, of Latonia, died Thursday at her home.
Arrangements are pending at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia.
Ada Robinette Kitts, 85, of Bellevue, died Wednesday at Garrard Street Nursing Home, Covington. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Raymond Kitts, preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons, Carl Kitts of Newport and Roger Kitts of Williamstown; daughters, Anna Faye Dotson of Blackberry, W.Va., Nellie Hall and Maude "Tootsie" Merrill, both of Bellevue; a sister, Maudie Ferrell of Bellevue; a brother, Johnson Robinette of Majestic; 24 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Dobbling Funeral Home, Bellevue. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.
Eugene E. Petty Sr., 62, of Newport, died at 9:35 p.m. Saturday at University Hospital, Cincinnati. He was a crossing guard with the traffic department of the City of Newport.
Survivors include his wife, Yetta Oldham Petty; sons, Eugene E. Petty Jr., Thomas Petty and Dominic Petty, all of Newport; his mother, Dora Caldwell of Cincinnati; sisters, Joan Hurry, Ethel Mae Jewell and Polly Petty, all of Cincinnati; and brothers, Ernest Caldwell of Newport and Joseph Petty of Covington.
Services were Thursday at Second Baptist Church, Newport. Burial was in Linden Grove Cemetery, Covington.

Kenneth Poe, 40, of Cincinnati, formerly of Northern Kentucky, died Tuesday at his home.

Sister Mary Amatis, S.N.D. (Mary Teresa Puls), 93, of Park Hills, died at 3:10 p.m. Wednesday at the Sisters of Notre Dame Provincial House, Park Hills.
She was a cook for convents in Northern Kentucky and for the rectories at St. Agnes in Fort Wright and St. Charles Care Center, Cov ington. Later, she cooked at the Provincial House.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 7:30 tonight in the Sisters of Notre Dame convent chapel. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. at the convent. Burial will be in the convent cemetery.

Alene Zeh, 76, of Erlanger, died June 2 at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include a son and daughter.
