Lida Jean Fields, homemaker

Lida Jean Fields was the typical country woman, singing in her church, working the farm next to her husband and helping to raise the cattle and tend the corn.

"She was always right there with me," said her husband, Harvey Fields.

Mrs. Fields, 58, of Burlington, died Thursday at her home. She was a homemaker.

"She was something of a homebody," said Mr. Fields.

"She loved the garden and housework. She liked to help everybody in the neighborhood."

In addition to her husband, survivors include daughter Deborah Hill of Burlington; sons, Kenny Sebastian of Burlington and Adam Fields of Aurora, Ind.; brothers, Mitchell Whitley, Rob Whitley and Ed Whitley, all of Jackson; sister, Margaret Gross of Jackson and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Monday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Burlington. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until noon Monday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Belleview Baptist Cemetery, Belleview . Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, 6612 Dixie Highway, Suite A2, Florence, Ky. 41042.

Clyde Allen, 82, of Nicholasville, died Friday at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington. He was the retired owner and operator of Allen Tile Co. in Lexington and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was also a member of Lexington Lodge No. 1 F&AM for 57 years, York Rite Mason, a senior and steward of the Oleika Legion of Honor, a member of Disabled American Veterans, and a volunteer for Veterans Administration Medical Center in Lexington.

Survivors include sisters, Sonja Ridner and Inez Willoughby, both of Florence; and brothers, Clarence Allen of Burlington, Ronald Allen of Covington and David Allen of Lexington.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Lexington. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Masonic services will be 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bluegrass Memorial Cemetery, Lexington. Memorials are suggested to Shriner's Hospital for Children, 1900 Richmond Road, Lexington, Ky. 40502.

Winford "Brownie" Booth, 77, of Sparta, died Friday at Tri-County Baptist Hospital, La Grange. He owned and operated Booth's Cafe in Sparta. He was a member of Sanders Baptist Church and was an Army veteran.

Survivors include sons, Norman Booth of Louisville, David Booth and Winnie Booth, both of Warsaw; daughters, Ginny Phelps of Louisville and Kimberly Booth of Sanders; his mother, Cora Booth of Carrollton; sisters, Florence Terrill of Lawrenceburg, Ind., and Jean Jones of Carrollton; a brother, Grover Booth of Louisville; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Carlton-Lowder Funeral Home, Warsaw. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Owenton Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Northern Kentucky, 1417 Alexandria Pike, Fort Thomas, Ky. 41075.

Beatrice Flynn, 81, of Walton, died Friday at her home. She was a lifetime member of All Saints Parrish in Walton and the Altar Society at All Saints.

Survivors include her sister, Mary Agnes Hoffman of Walton.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at All Saints Church. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Walton. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Verona. Memorials are suggested to All Saints Church Building Fund, 46 Needmore Ave., Walton, Ky. 41094.

June Cornelius Grivetti, 72, of Latonia, died at 5:30 Thursday at her home. She was a nurse, an Army veteran of the Korean War, and a member of St. Stephen Episcopal Church, Latonia, the Jane McAfee Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Oliver Perry Morton Chapter of Daughters of the Union and the American Ex-Prisoners of War Association.

Survivors include her husband, Louis Giovine Grivetti of Latonia; a daughter, Louise Grivetti Williams of Latonia; brothers, Dan Cornelius of Harrodsburg and Jack Cornelius of Lawrenceburg; a sister, Lida A. Todd of Harrodsburg; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will be today from 9 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. Burial and a military honor guard service will be in Floral Hill Cemetery, Taylor Mill. Memorials are suggested to St. Stephen Episcopal Church, 212 E. 39th St., Latonia, Ky., 41015.

Verdis Wayne Harmon, 80, of Carrollton, died Thursday at Veterans Administration Medical Center, Louisville. He was a member of Carrollton Moose Lodge, American Legion Post 41 in Carrollton, and an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Supplee Harmon of Carrollton; a son, Michael Wayne Harmon of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughters, Sandy Turner of Madison, Ind., and Vickie Lynn Touw of Islamorada, Fla.; a sister, Reva Ray Webster of Madison, Ind.; and five grandchildren.

Services will be private for the immediate family at Dunn Funeral Home, Carrollton. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Carrollton American Legion Memorial; envelopes can be picked up at the funeral home.

Goldie Mae Cox Leprotti, 80, of Cincinnati, formerly of Elsmere, died Thursday at Madeira Health Care Center in Madeira, Ohio. She was a retired tea packer for Kroger and a member of Elsmere Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Isaiah S. Cox, in 1969, and Pasquale Leprotti, in 1997.

Survivors include sons, Bernard Cox of Zanesville, Ohio, and Kelvin L. Cox of White Oak, Ohio; a daughter, Norma D. Reese of Cincinnati; one grandchild, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation was Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Williamstown Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.

Louise Hoffman McGrath, 96, of Southgate, died at 1:15 a.m. Thursday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Therese Altar Society and St. Therese Over 50 Club. She also was a member of Southgate Super Seniors and St. Gemma Guild. Her husband, George R. McGrath, died in 1964. Four sons - Thomas McGrath, Michael McGrath, Robert McGrath and James McGrath - also preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son, Rev. Richard McGrath of Southgate; a daughter, Nancy Roderick of Fort Thomas; 21 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and six great- great-grandchildren.

Prayers will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Therese Church, Southgate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Wilder.

Memorials are suggested to St. John the Baptist Church, Wilder, Ky. 41071 or the charity of the donor's choice.

Amanda Smith, 79, of Highland Heights, died Thursday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. She was a homemaker. Her husband, General C. Smith, died in 1986.

Survivors include a son, Vernon Smith of Science Hill; daughters, Aline Johnson of Covington and Hazel Vickers of Corinth; sisters, Norma Lee Lipps and Oatie Proffitt, both of London; a brother, L.C. Smith of London; 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Radel Funeral Home, Newport. Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Linden Grove Cemetery, Covington.

Mary Jo Smith, 76, of Fort Wright, died at 5:50 a.m. Tuesday at Rosedale Manor nursing home, Latonia. She was a retired sales clerk with Sears. A son, James Jump, died in 1992.

Survivors include a son, Joseph Jump of Crittenden; stepsons, Cecil Smith of Burlington, Shirley Smith of Florence, Ronald Smith of Demossville, Donald Smith and Ricky Smith, both of Independence; daughters, Ruth Ann Smith of Fort Wright and Mary Jo Mullins of Erlanger; stepdaughters, Wanda Jo Napier of Walton and Gina R. Sizemore of Sparta; sisters, Helen Green of Latonia and Anna Marie Bilz of Covington; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services were held Friday.

Bruce Sumpter, 49, of Falmouth died Friday at his home.

Arrangements are pending at Peoples Funeral Home, Falmouth.

Helen Poage Wood, 87, of New Market, Va., formerly of Bracken County, died Wednesday at Life Care Center in New Market. She was a retired administrator for the American Red Cross and a member of Manor Memorial Methodist Church in New Market.

Survivors include a nephew, Ed McClanahan of Lexington; a niece, Linda Martin Toth of Cincinnati; three great-nieces and two great-nephews.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Brooksville Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to Manor Memorial Methodist Church, New Market, Va. 22844.

Metcalfe-Hennessey Funeral home is in charge of the arrangements.
