Cathy Willoughby had pigs as pets
Everyone who knew Cathy Willoughby knew she liked pigs.
"We started out with two baby pigs," said her husband, Kellie Willoughby. "They started out as house pets. We put them in the back yard when they got too big."
Mrs. Willoughby's father took the porcine pets, Roberta and Charlotte, for a while because the Willoughbys were living in a subdivision in Burlington.
When the Willoughbys moved to a plot of land in Walton, Mrs. Willoughby's curly-tailed companions returned to the household, her husband said.
Cathy Lucinda Moore Willoughby, 45, of Walton, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington.
Mrs. Willoughby was always smiling, had a great sense of humor, and never met a stranger, said her husband. She loved talking to people and helping at her church, Beaver Lick Baptist Church in Union, any way she could.
She worked as a teacher's aide with Stephens Elementary in Boone County and was a former teacher's aide with Burlington Elementary. She worked with multiple-handicapped children.
She had also worked at Provident Bank.
In addition to her husband, survivors include a son, James K. Willoughby of Burlington; her parents, James B. Moore and Remona Reed Moore, both of Walton; sisters, Melinda Reichert of Union and Penny Moore of Walton; a brother, Tim Moore of Verona; and grandparents, Delmar Reed and Elizabeth Reed of Walton.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Beaver Lick Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Florence. Burial will be in Beaver Lick Christian Church Cemetery, Union. Memorials are suggested to Beaver Lick Baptist Church, 11460 Highway 42, Union, Ky. 41092.
Marvin W. Ashcraft, 45, of Walton, died at 12:33 a.m. Friday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. He was an engineer with CSX Transportation. A daughter, Tanika Marie Ashcraft, died in 1978.
Survivors include a son, Devin E. Ashcraft of Erlanger; sisters, Vera Coyle and Viola Ashcraft, both of Covington; brothers, Billy Ashcraft of Butler, Donald Ashcraft of Covington, Jamey Ashcraft of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Roger Ashcraft of Park Hills; and his fiancee, Stephanie Denney of Walton.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Goshen Christian Cemetery, Piner. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, 6612 Dixie Highway, Suite A2, Florence, Ky. 41042.
Richard Andrew Cain, 95, of Taylor Mill, died at 11:31 a.m. Saturday at Woodspoint Nursing Home, Florence. He was a retired welder with Stewart Ironworks and a member of Eggleston United Methodist Church, Erlanger. His wife, Alma Edna Cain, died in 1993. A son, Richard Cain, died in 1992.
Survivors include daughters, Betty Ruth Yelton of Florence, Dorothy Gayle Howell of Tallahassee, Fla., and Alma Lee Bowling of Edgewood; sons, Larry Harold Cain of Covington and Franklin Harry Cain of Independence; sisters, Sara Henry of Dry Ridge, Ruth Williams of Florence and Maggie Sweiner of Arizona; 19 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence. Visitation will begin there at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill. Memorials are suggested to Children's Hospital, 3333 Burnet Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio 45229.
David Cheesman, 44, of Wal ton, died Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood, after an extended illness.
Arrangements are pending at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Walton.
John K. Cropper Jr., 68, of Roswell, Ga., formerly of Burlington, died at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Roswell. He was a retired employee of General Electric, Cincinnati.
Survivors include daughters, Pamela Hilton and Tarran Van DeWork, both of Atlanta; and three grandchildren.
Services will be Tuesday at Roswell Funeral Home in Roswell. Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Florence, is handling local arrangements.
Richard Edward Garvin, 61, of Independence, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington. He was a counselor with the Commonwealth of Kentucky, a charter member of Christ United Methodist Church, Burlington, and attended First Baptist Church of Cold Spring. He was a gospel singer.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Robinson Garvin; a son, Michael Todd Garvin of Union; and one grandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Cold Spring. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence. John Griffith, 59, of Fort Thomas, died Friday at St. Luke Hospital East in Fort Thomas. He was a clerk with CSX Railroad, an officer with the Transportation Communication International Union and a member of Highland Hills Baptist Church, Fort Thomas. He was an Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Griffith; a son, John W. Griffith of Fort Thomas; his mother, Jennie Griffith of Fort Thomas; sisters, Rebecca Sebastian and Hazel Turner, both of Fort Thomas; and two grandchildren.

Elderine Harmon, 91, of Warsaw, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
She was a former cook with Gallatin County Schools, a member of Warsaw Christian Church and the Christian Women's Fellowship. Her husband, Forest Harmon, died in 1988.
Survivors include a son, Forest Harmon Jr. of Florence; daughters, Anna Jean Carlton and Marilyn Stephenson, both of Warsaw; seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Carlton-Lowder Funeral Home, Warsaw. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in English Cem etery. Memorials are suggested to Warsaw Christian Church, 207 W. High St., Warsaw, Ky. 41095.
Helen Fessler Heck, 80, of Cold Spring, died at 8:35 p.m. Saturday at Baptist Convalescent Center, Newport. She was a retired key punch operator with the Internal Revenue Service, Covington, and a member of St. Mary's Altar Society at St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring.
Mrs. Heck was a member of the St. Joseph Seniors of Cold Spring, the St. Joseph Court Catholic Order of Foresters, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Crestview Cold Spring Volunteer Fire Department. Her husband, Harry E. Heck, died in 1987.
Survivors include daughters, Mary Long of Cold Spring, Donna Sue Leuenburger of Newport, Annie Pelgen of Highland Heights and Bonnie Schneider of Cold Spring; sons, William Heck and Donald Heck, both of Cold Spring; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 7:30 tonight at St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas, with prayers following. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Cold Spring. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.
Bramel Lee Holt, 41, of Covington, died Friday at University Hospital, Cincinnati. He was a construction worker with the Drees Co.
Survivors include a son, Justin B. Holt of Latonia; his parents, Bramel and Joann Holt of Covington; brothers, Donnie Holt and Robert Holt, both of Covington; sisters, Debra Young of Burlington, Kathy Rimer of Warsaw and Sharon Holt of Covington.

Della Joyce McIntosh, 45, of Taylor Mill, died Saturday at her home.

May New, 97, of Carrollton, died Saturday at Carroll County Memorial Hospital, Carrollton. She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Apostolic Church, Carrollton. She was preceded in death by sons, Roy L. New and William D. New, and two infant daughters.
Survivors include Robert Jr. New of Lebanon, Ohio, Bobbie Gene New and Luther Carroll New, both of Carrollton; sisters, Ellen D. Breeck of Carrollton and Lula G. Wingham of Ghent; a brother, Marvin Wilhoite of Carrollton; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Ottis J. Osborne, 60, of Erlanger, died at 10:49 a.m. Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a retired elevator construction engineer, a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Latonia, and an Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Marcia M. Dawson Osborne; a son, David J. Osborne of Taylor Mill; a daughter, Meghan L. Osborne of Erlanger; and sisters, Bea Cotton of Park Hills, Mary Hellman of Independence and Thelma Kays of Shelbyville.

James W. Paice, 55, of Falmouth, died Friday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was an employee of Victo ry Tube Co. in Hebron, a member of Hardin-Browning American Legion Post No. 109, Falmouth, and an Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.
Survivors include a son, Ryan Paice of Conyers, Ga.; a daughter, Laura Ruth Paice of Conyers; his father, Edward G. Paice Jr. of Clearwater, Fla.; a sister, Claudia Hyatt of Chapel Hill, N.C.; and brothers, Tom Paice of Dayton, Ohio, and Edward G. Paice Jr. of Tampa, Fla.

Albert Edgar Pierce, 50, of Walton, died Saturday at Village Care Center, Erlanger. He was a mechanic with the Boone County Public Works department.

Elizabeth Schild, 83, of Covington, died at 8:25 p.m. Saturday at Lakeside Place Nursing Home, Highland Heights. She was a teacher with Covington Independent Schools.
Survivors include her husband, Walter Schild; sons, Charles Schild of Taylor Mill and Paul Schild of Latonia; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Emma Irene Thompson Whaley, 94, of Cincinnati, formerly of Covington, died Saturday at Maple Knoll Village in Cincinnati. She was a retired office manager with E. K. Williams Co., Cincinnati, and a member of Morgan Christian Church, Pendleton County.
Survivors include a sister, Anna Mary Snodgrass of Highland Heights; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
