Leonard Poe, Post ad salesman, devoted to family, music, sports
Leonard B. Poe devoted his life to caring for his family.
Mr. Poe, 83, of Erlanger, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
His wife, Vera Delores Poe, died May 18.
A son, James Poe of Erlanger, said his father used to visit her twice a day every day in the last years of her life.
"It is as if Dad lived long enough to take care of Mom, and then he left too," James Poe said.
He also remembers his father's love for sports. Mr. Poe loved the Cincinnati Reds and Cincinnati Bengals so much that he worked as an usher for many years.
Mr. Poe was an avid music fan and could play the piano, the guitar and the drums. He belonged to a group called the Melody Mak- ers, who played at rest homes. He worked for more than 30 years as a classified ad salesman with The Post & Times Star. Mr. Poe was a member of the Communications Workers of America and of the Fort Mitchell Baptist Church.
Survivors include another son, Thomas R. Poe Sr. of Florence; a sister, Georgia Watkins of Belton, Mo.; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will be there from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Stamping Ground Masonic Cemetery. Memorials: to Fort Mitchell Baptist Church, 2323 Dixie Highway, Fort Mitchell, Ky. 41017. Frank Clem Sr., 65, of Perdido, Ala., formerly of Northern Kentucky, died Sunday in Perdido. He was the former owner of Frank's Coins and Pets, Covington. A son, Frank Clem Jr., preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Iris Clem; a daughter, Angie Clem of Perdido; sons, Mike Clem of Raleigh, N.C., Donald Clem of Erlanger and Mark Clem of Covington; a brother, George Clem of Cincinnati; sisters, Lorraine Cucinotta of Cincinnati, Pat Brickler and Judy Hitchcock, both of Covington, and Nancy Moore of Erlanger; and 12 grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. June 15 at Orchard Street Baptist Church, Elsmere.

Wallace Stewart Costello, 82, of Erlanger, died at 3 a.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington. He was a retired mechanical engineer with the Kenton County Water District.
He was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church, Lakeside Park.
Mr. Costello was a past president of the Navy League, Northern Kentucky Heritage League, and the AAU Swimming Committee, Management Club and Covington YMCA.
He was a master Mason of the Grand Lodge and Kismee Grotto.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Johns Costello; a daughter, Cathy Costello Caudill of Crestview Hills; a stepdaughter, Sue Patten Pratt of Seneca, S.C.; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at noon Friday at Highland cemetery Chapel, Fort Mitchell. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Cecilia B. Beck Drahmann, 98, of Fort Thomas, died at 2:55 a.m. Tuesday at Carmel Manor Nursing Home, Fort Thomas. She was a homemaker. Her husband, John Drahmann, died in 1975.
Survivors include daughters, Elaine Schroder of Cold Spring and Jo Ann Goebel of Fort Thomas; a son, John Drahmann of Cold Spring; 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring. Visitation will be from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas, with prayers following. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas. Rita Nahrup Dwyer, 79, of Hilton Head Island, S.C., formerly of Southgate, died Friday at her home. She was a controller with WLWT-TV Channel 5 in Cincinnati and WSB Radio in Los Angeles. She was a member of St. Francis By the Sea Catholic Church and the Palmetto Dunes Golf Club in Hilton Head.
Her husband, Joseph P. Dwyer, died in 1997. A daughter, Karen Dwyer, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include daughters, Kathi Woods of Atlanta, Michele Deede of Atlanta, and Kristine Berger of Hilton Head Island; a son, Kieran Dwyer of Los Angeles; brothers, Walter Nahrup of Cincinnati and Wilbert Nahrup of Lady Lake, Fla.; sisters, Mary Sack of Cold Spring and Betty Cleary of Dayton, Ohio; and eight grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial was Wednesday at St. Francis By the Sea Church. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 6113, Hilton Head Island, S.C. 29938. Island Funeral Home, Hilton Head Island, handled arrangements.
Randal L. Jett, 58, of Dover, died Tuesday at his home. He was a dairy farmer and a member of Powersville Christian Church.
Survivors include sons, Robert Jett of Florida and Michael Jett of Bracken County; daughters, Terri Caswell of Mason County and Jenny Todd of Versailles; a sister, Gladys England of Brooksville; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Moore and Parker Funeral Home, Brooksville. Visitation will begin there at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Hamilton Cemetery, Brooksville.

Frank Goebel Lair, 100, of Cynthiana, died Tuesday at Edgemont Manor Nursing Home in Cynthiana. He was a retired farmer and a member of Mount Carmel Christian Church.
Survivors include a son, Roy T. Lair of Alexandria, Va.; daughters, Peggy Lair Whitson and Lyda Florence, both of Cynthiana, and Anna Frank Cozart of Harlan County; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Bobby Gayle Marston, 62, of Gratz, died Tuesday at Baptist East Hospital, Louisville. He was a former mayor of Gratz, a farmer and a member of Gratz Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Freda Osborne Marston; a son, Barry Marston of Owenton; a daughter, Kristi Fitzgerald of Gratz; and five grandchildren.

Phyllis M. Rhodes, 64, of Walton, died at 11:42 a.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a bus aide for the disabled at Boone County Board of Education and a member of Beaver Lick Baptist Church, Walton.
Survivors include her husband, Randall Rhodes; a daughter, Rhonda Diehl of Morning View; sons, Butch Rhodes and Rodney Rhodes, both of Walton; a sister, Mary Lou Fountain of Walton; brothers, Sid Scott of Williamstown, Vernon Scott of Crittenden, Robert Scott of Glencoe and Randolph Scott of Florence; and four grandchildren.

Robert L. Rosenbaum Sr., 62, of Alexandria, died Tuesday at his home. He was a credit manager with Xpedx Paper Co. in Cincinnati, a deacon at Alexandria Church of Christ and a treasurer of the Alexandria Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife, Pam Rosenbaum Sr.; daughters, Melissa Flannery of Southgate and Laura Guilfoyle of Cincinnati; a son, Robert Rosenbaum Jr. of Bellevue; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 6 p.m. Friday at Alexandria Church of Christ. The family will receive friends after the services at the church. Jean Berning Snydor, 68, of Highland Heights, died Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include sons, Charles Shelton of Burlington, Raymond McElfresh, Timothy McElfresh and Lewis McElfresh, all of Newport; a daughter, Charlene Warman of Covington; her mother, Lucy Berning of Highland Heights; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Radel Funeral Home, Newport. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.
Mary Lou Spoonamore, 82, of Taylor Mill, died at 11:58 a.m. Tuesday at Highlands of Fort Thomas. She was a homemaker, a member of Sunny Acres United Methodist Church in Taylor Mill and the church United Methodist Women and Senior Citizens. She was a member of the ladies auxiliaries of VFW Post No. 1993, Paris, and American Legion Post No. 203 in Latonia, and was a Navy veteran of World War II. Her husband, Everett Wayne Spoonamore, died in 1981.
There are no immediate survivors.

Carrie E. Trapp, 87, of Frankfort, formerly of Alexandria, died at 9:56 p.m. Wednesday at Beverly Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Frankfort.

Franklin Tupman, 67, of Covington, died at 2:55 a.m. today at Grant Manor Nursing Home in Williamstown.

Edna Fay Wagner, 71, of Silver Grove, died Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. She was a retired central-supply technician with the hospital.
Survivors include sons, Dennis Wagner of Silver Grove, Kenneth Wagner of Cold Spring and Terry Wagner of Fort Thomas; daughters, Sandra Miller of Fort Thomas, Cheryl Cole of Newport and Chris Newman of Silver Grove; a sister, Verna Deinlein of Claryville; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Radel Funeral Home, Highland Heights. Visitation will begin there at 4 p.m. Friday.
George A. Wessels, 80, of Glencoe, died Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. He was a carpenter. His wife, Alberta Wessels, died in 1994.
Survivors include two nephews.

Donald Lee Wolfe, 52, of Batavia, Ohio, formerly of Covington, died at 2:35 a.m. Wednesday at Clermont Mercy Hospital in Batavia.
Survivors include his mother, Marie Wilson of Batavia; and a brothers, Frank M. Wolfe of Batavia.
