Margaret Donnelly, devoted to family, church
Mary Margaret Stauber Donnelly was a kind, gentle woman who let her actions speak for her.
The mother of eight and devout Roman Catholic was a model of consistency, said a son, Thomas Christian Donnelly of Cincinnati.
"She always had love for everybody. She didn't care if you were rich or poor, black or white, it didn't make any difference. She loved people for who they were," said Donnelly, an attorney.
Mrs. Donnelly, 65, of Fort Thomas, died Thursday at her home after an illness.
Church and family were the center of Mrs. Donnelly's life, her son said.
"Mom was a woman who attributed anything good that she did to her mother, who raised six kids through the Great Depression," Donnelly said.
"Whenever we would say something good about her, she would say we were also saying something good about our grandmother."
Mrs. Donnelly grew up in Newport and graduated from Our Lady of Providence High School, where she had the lead role in the play, "Pride and Prejudice." After she had raised her eight children she began taking classes at Northern Kentucky University and later took jobs with Donnelley Directory and Longworth Hall.
Her husband, Thomas M. Donnelly, preceded her in death.
