Geneva Harney, teacher, loving wife, friend
Geneva Harney welcomed everyone with open arms. Be it her family, the children she taught at Sunny Acres Methodist Church or her neighbors, everyone could always count on Mrs. Harney greeting them with a smile.
"Everybody loved coming to Geneva's house for dinner," said her daughter, Karla Thompson of Ryland Heights.
Mrs. Harney and her husband of 50 years, Harry, were soul mates, Mrs. Thompson said: "They were just totally in sync with one another."
Mrs. Harney, 69, of Taylor Mill, died at 4 p.m. Monday at Village Care Center, Erlanger. She was a kindergarten teacher with Sunny Acres Church in Taylor Mill, a seamstress and a member of Hilltop Church of Christ, Taylor Mill.
Other survivors include a daughter, Lisa Farmer of Walton; brothers, Edward Milner and Lloyd Milner, both of Berry, and Jerome Wayne Milner of Alexandria; sisters, Geraldine Milner of Taylor Mill and Sylvia Dale Irvin of Cynthiana; and two grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Latonia Christian Church. Visitation is 5 to 8 tonight at the church; burial, Pythian Grove Cemetery, Cynthiana. Memorials: American Diabetes Association, 8899 Brookside Ave., West Chester, Ohio 45069. Arrangements: Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia.
Betty White Baker, 76, of Bellevue, died Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. She was an accountant and a member of First Baptist Church of Bellevue.
She was a chairwoman of the church Kitchen Committee and a clerk for the church business meetings. She also worked for Lazarus department store in Cincinnati.
Survivors include her husband, Thornton Baker; a son, Richard A. Jones of Burlington; and sisters, Marjorie Davis and Eleanor J. Perkins, both of Sun City, Ariz.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of Bellevue. Visitation will begin there at noon Friday. Burial will be in Alexandria Cemetery.
Russell Burnett, 73, of Alexandria, died at 12:52 a.m. Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a retired employee of Pferrman Floor Covering Co., Cold Spring, and a Navy veteran of World War II. A son, Brian Louis Burnett, died in 1991.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Louise Burnett; a son, Bruce Burnett of Alexandria; daughters, Anna Lee Collins of Crescent Springs, Paula Lynn Pompilio of Alexandria and Teresa Louise Coen of Fort Thomas; a brother, Charles Burnett of Hamilton, Ohio; a sister, Martha Webb of Hamilton; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Alexandria. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate. Memorials are suggested to Salvation Army, 340 W. 10th St., Newport, Ky. 41071; or St. Paul United Church of Christ, Main and Jefferson Sts., Alexandria, Ky. 41001. Alexandria Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Jesse A. Chebuske, 66, of Fairfield, N.J., formerly of Walton, died Friday at his daughter's home in Walton. He was chairman of the New York Terminal Conference and a graduate of the Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N.Y.
Survivors include a daughter, Marguerite Kelley of Walton; sons, Greg Chebuske of Fairfield, N.J., Ed Chebuske of Clearwater, Fla., and Alan Chebuske of Portland, Maine; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be at the convenience of the family. Stith Funeral Home, Florence, is handling arrangements.
Helen "Joy" Anders Frohmeyer, 71, of Fort Thomas, died at 10:08 p.m. Monday at St. Luke Hospital East in Fort Thomas. She was a retired clerical worker with Dr. Anthony Giglia. Her husband, Robert Frohmeyer, died in 1990.
Survivors include sisters, Florence Boschert of Alexandria, Betty Johnson of Fort Thomas and Rose Chalfant of Florence; nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Fort Thomas. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.
Patricia Ann Kidd Garnett, 56, of Latonia, died Monday at her home. She was an administrative assistant with Star Bank.
Survivors include sons, Tracy Garnett of Latonia and Jeff Garnett of Ludlow; brothers, Claude Kidd of Warsaw, Bobby Kidd and Tim Kidd, both of Richmond; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.
Robert Marshall Jump Sr., 81, of Dry Ridge, died Tuesday at his home. He was a retired heavy equipment operator with R.C. Durr Co., a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Dry Ridge and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Viola Setters Jump; sons, Robert M. Jump II of Pekin, Ind., and Roy L. Jump of Dry Ridge; daughters, Donna Ryan of Florence, Patty Jump of Park Hills, Judy Harrison of Williamstown and Sherry Clingerman of Falmouth; a brother, Herbert Lee Jump of Independence; sisters, Rita Tippitt and Lois Strumball, both of Alabama; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Eckler-Hudson Funeral Home, Dry Ridge. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hill Crest Cemetery, Dry Ridge. Memorials are suggested to the Hospice of Northern Kentucky, 1403 Alexandria Pike, Fort Thomas, Ky. 41075.
Meldine Kavanaugh, 89, of Covington, died at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday at Baptist Convalescent Center, Newport. She was a retired clerk with St. Elizabeth Medical Center North in Covington and a member of Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption, Covington. She was a member of the cathedral Ladies Society and Garden Guild, and the Busy Fingers Club of St. Benedict Church. Her husband, William J. Kavanaugh, died in 1945. A son, James Patrick Kavanaugh, died in 1998.
Survivors include a son, Donald Kavanaugh of Latonia; a daughter, Betty Ann Everson of Columbus, Ohio; six grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at noon Thursday at Holy Cross Church, Latonia. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Donald G. King, 53, of Gumlick, died at 6:27 p.m. Monday at his home. He was a senior financing consultant with Cherry Hill Mobile Home Sales, Williamstown, commander of the Robert P. McLachlin American Legion Post No. 137 in Williamstown and a member of Gumlick Baptist Church. He also was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife, Della King; daughters, Dawn Bishop of Butler, Dana Tucker of Augusta, Danielle King and Devanny King, both at home; a brother, Richard King of Falmouth; a sister, Daisy Thomason of Owensboro; and one granddaughter.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Gumlick Cemetery. Joseph W. Lipps, 72, of Florence, Ind., died Monday at his home. He was a retired industrial mechanic with the former Fernald uranium processing plant in Hamilton County, Ohio, and a member of St. Dominic Church, Cincinnati. He was a member of the Vevay, Ind., VFW and American American post, and was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Connie Lipps; sons, Wayne Lipps of Cincinnati and Charles Love of Madison, Ind.; daughters, Cindy Johnson of Scottsdale, Ariz., Susan Wenger of Cincinnati and Tara Love of Florence; sisters, Rosemary Zimmerman and Elvira Seavers, both of Sunman, Ind., and Celia Neukam of Batesville, Ind.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Carlton-Lowder Funeral Home, Warsaw. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Warsaw Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Vevay, Ind., VFW or American Legion, Vevay, Ind., 47043.
Thomas Miller, 56, of Covington, died Sunday at his home. He was an aluminum-siding independent contractor. A son, Thomas A. Miller, preceded him in death.
Survivors include daughters, Brenda Gilbert and Joyce Hollingsworth, both of Covington, and Kathy Miller of Maryland; sons, Jack Miller and Michael Miller, both of Covington, Russell Miller of South Carolina and Thomas Miller of Burlington; sisters, Doris DeMarco of Louisville, Patricia Fernandes of Oregon, Betty Harris of Phoenix, Violet McGuire of Erlanger and Gloria Miller of Bellevue; a brother, Jim Miller of Erlanger; 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Rev. William Pearson, 67, of Salvisa, died Monday at Central Baptist Hospital, Lexington. He was a retired minister of the Brooksville United Methodist Church, a member of the Kentucky Conference and an Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Chilton Pearson; a son, Rev. Musial Pearson of Leitchfield; daughters, Reva Pearson of Fort Thomas and Mary Estes of Somerset; a brother, James Pearson of Louisville; three grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Claylick United Methodist Church, Lawrenceburg. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be in Hebron Cemetery. Gash Funeral Home, Lawrenceburg, is handling arrangements.
Elmer E. Tanner, 79, of Florence, died at 6:40 p.m. Tuesday at Florence Park Care Center in Florence.
