Dorothy Stegman backed others
For most of her life, Dorothy E. Stegman watched out for others.
Whether it was taking care of her family and friends or volunteering at church, Mrs. Stegman spread her cheery attitude and sharing nature.
"Mom would just help anyone that she could," said a son, Paul W. Stegman Jr. of Fort Wright.
"She was a happy person who could make things happen. She wasn't one to take the microphone, but she would help others who did."
Mrs. Stegman, 82, of Taylor Mill, died at 7:54 p.m. Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood.
She was a homemaker and a member of Holy Cross Church in Latonia. She was a Eucharistic minister with Holy Cross Church and was a founder of Share and Care Self-Help senior group of Catholic Social Services.
Mrs. Stegman enjoyed cooking and being with her family. A native of Campbell County, she and her husband, Paul W. Stegman Sr., were married
for 61 years.
At one time, five generations of the Stegmans were alive, her son said.
Mrs. Stegman grew up during the Great Depression and learned how to be compassionate, her son said.
"She was very patient," Mr. Stegman said. "Her hobby was her kids. And she loved to read."
Mrs. Stegman was a member of the Women's Auxiliary of Bishop Carroll Council Knights of Columbus No. 702. She and her husband were instrumental in helping found The Colony in Latonia.
Other survivors include her husband, Paul W. Stegman Sr.; sons, Bob Stegman of Elsmere, Tom Stegman of Erlanger and Larry Stegman of Taylor Mill; a daughter, M. Sue McKinney of Florence; brothers, Charles Salzman of Florence and Richard Salzmann of Harrison, Ohio; sisters, Eleanor Lyons of Las Vegas and Virginia Marshall of Sanders; 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Holy Cross Church. Visitation will begin there at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.
Memorials are suggested to charity of the donor's choice.

Mila Mae Profitt Adams, 82, of Alexandria, died Friday at Lakeside Place Nursing Home, Highland Heights.
She was a homemaker and a member of Fairlane Baptist Church in Grants Lick, Sun Valley Senior Citizens, and Order of Eastern Star, Alexandria. Her husband, Belve Adams, died in 1993.
Survivors include sons, Roger Adams of Alexandria and Ted Adams of Pensacola, Fla.; daughters, Phyllis Jo Hitch of Alexandria and Geneva Bens of Finneytown, Ohio; brothers, Willie Eugene Profitt of Clay City, and Lawrence Profitt and Eulis Profitt, both of Winchester; sisters, Pauline Lojinger of Cincinnati, Shirley Young of Lexington, and Ila P. Whisman and Irene Hatton, both of Winchester; 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Services were Monday at Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick. Burial was in Alexandria Cemetery.
Gaston D. Cogdell, 80, of Edgewood, died Saturday at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati. He was a minister with the Garrard Street Church of Christ in Covington and a Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Jenelle Cogdell; daughters, Susan Ajeme of Houston, Sarah Bhagwandin of Seattle and Shalmah Prince of Cincinnati; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Garrard Street Church of Christ. Visitation will begin there at 5 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Granbury, Texas, Cemetery. Stith Funeral Home, Florence, is handling arrangements.
Sister Mary Gabriel German, C.D.P., 97, of Mel bourne, died at 6 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Home, Melbourne.
She was a member of the Congregation of Divine Providence for 77 years. She was a teacher with elementary schools in Kentucky, West Virginia and Ohio.
Survivors include a sister, Martha Enginger of Cincinnati; and a brother, Aloysius German of Birmingham, Ala.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Chapel at St. Anne Convent in Melbourne. Visitation will begin there at 3 p.m. Wednesday. Phyllis E. Hale, 79, of Bellevue, died Monday at Lakeside Place Nursing Home, Highland Heights. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Harry Hale.

Bonnie Wolfe Huffman, 53, of Walton, died at 12:50 a.m. Tuesday at her residence.

Helen Kelly, 77, of Newport, died at 7:40 p.m. Saturday at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati. She was a retired clerk with the R. L. Polk Co., Cincinnati. Her husband, Arthur Kelly, died in 1974.
Survivors include sisters, Vivian Schulte, Betty Harrison, Romona Stanfield, Belva Deaton, Shirley Tucker and Barbara Shields, all of New port; and a brother, Art Shields of Newport.

Ruth Glenna Groger Locknane, 79, of Erlanger, died Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
She was a retired secretary with NCR and a member of Banklick Christian Church, Covington.
Survivors include daughters, Barbara Herbert of Mil ford, Ohio, Linda Jones of Gulfport, Miss., and Dallas Hegge of Florence; a son, Larry Locknane of Florence; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Floyd Parsons, 78, of Owenton, died Sunday at Owen County Memorial Hospital in Owenton. He was a mechanic and owner of Floyd's Small Engine Repair, and a deacon emeritus with Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Hudson Parsons; a son, Gayle Parsons of Owenton; a daughter, Brenda Morgan of Owenton; a sister, Frances Hughes of Jonesville; and two grandchildren.

Joyce Ann Quinn, 52, of Jacksonville, Fla., formerly of Latonia, died at 10 a.m. Saturday at Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, Jacksonville. She was a retired clerk with McAplin's department store in Crestview Hills.
Survivors include her husband, Don Quinn; a son, Donald Quinn of Covington; a daughter, Martha D. Quinn of Ypsilanti, Mich.; a sister, Sharon Wood of Cincinnati; a grandmother, Martha Volterman of Newport; and one granddaughter.

Donald S. Riddle, 63, of Warsaw, died Monday at Kings Daughters Hospital, Madison, Ind. He was a retired service manager with Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., a member of Glencoe Church of Christ and an Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Riddle; a daughter, Kim Reed of Warsaw; a son, T. Arnold Riddle of Sparta; brothers, Elmer Gene Riddle of Warsaw, James Riddle of Florence, Robert Riddle of Hebron and Fred Riddle of Glencoe; half-sisters, Cornelia Ford of Fort Myers, Fla., and Hilda Long of Frankfort; and one granddaughter.

Ethel Jean Stucker, 82, of Newport, died Monday at her home. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty Genslinger of Newport; a stepdaughter, Linda Vickers of Newport; a stepson, Ronnie Stucker of Newport; sisters, Maude Cheek of Homosassa, Fla., and Minnie Francis of Franklin, Ind.; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Mary E. Wallace, 78, of Fort Mitchell, died Monday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. She was a retired executive secretary with the Kentucky Department of Transportation, Fort Mitchell District office. She was a member of the Villa Hills Civic Club, the Villa Hills Homemakers Club, and St. Joseph Church, Crescent Springs.
Survivors include a son, Ronald R. Wallace of Walton; and two grandchildren.

Nelson "Gene" Wright, 73, of Carrollton, died Monday at his home. He was a retired farmer, a member of Disabled American Veterans Post No. 155 in Louisville and an Army veteran of World War II. A son, Dennis Wright, died in 1955.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Willoughby Wright; daughters, Barbara Dunn and Jean McAlister, both of Carrollton, and Brenda Stewart of Worthville; his mother, Mary Doris Clark Wright of Campbellsburg; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
