'Easy-going' Robert Jennings lived to 101
Robert Jennings was one of those rare people whose life touched three centuries.
A native of Mount Vernon, Mr. Jennings lived to be 101. His wife, Sarah Morris Jennings, who died four years ago, lived to be 96.
A daughter, Stella Irene Keitz of Ludlow, said her parents were married
for more than 70 years.
She attributed their longevity to the fact that neither smoked or drank and neither carried grudges.
"They were very religious," Mrs. Keitz said.
Mr. Jennings, of Newport, died Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital East in Fort Thomas. He was a retired lead man with Interlake Steel.
Mr. Jennings was a soft-spoken family man who enjoyed being with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, his daughter said.
He would take daily walks to stay in shape, but he didn't follow a particular diet, Mrs. Keitz said.
"Dad was easy-going. He and mother were just clean-living people," Mrs. Keitz said.
Others survivors include a son, James Jennings of Indianapolis; seven grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great- great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Fares J. Radel Funeral Home in Newport. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.
Della Mae Ingram Chandler, 85, of Hebron, died Saturday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Howard "Happy" Chandler, died in 1997. A daughter, Mary Lucas Hatton, died in 1993.
Survivors include sons, Frank Chandler of Independence and Roy Becraft of Cold Spring; daughters, Della Chandler of Hebron, Dorothy Christian of Melbourne and Elsie Young of Milford, Ohio; 17 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Services were Tuesday at Radel Funeral Home, Newport. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.
Verna Bea Voiles Dehnert, 76, of Dayton, died Monday at Florence Park Care Center, Florence. She was a cherry sorter with International Fruit Co.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Dehnert; a daughter, Deloris Ann Murphy Berry; a son, Elmer Lee Murphy Berry; her mother, Lou Verna Voiles of Florence; stepsons, Charles Dehnert of Ludlow and Michael Dehnert of Woodway, Texas; sisters, Betty Adams of Springfield, Ohio, Lou Crabtree of Fruitport, Mich., Ann King of Florence and Francis Moore of Greensburg, Ind.; brothers, Carroll Voiles and Kenneth Voiles, both of Richmond, Ind.; and 12 grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas.

Richard Morrow Hawkins, 70, of Fort Wright, died Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. He was a self-employed contractor and an Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Hawkins; a son, Jeff Hawkins of Independence; daughters, Kimberly Balzer and Michelle Profitt, both of Florence, and Debbie Morris of Reading, Mass.; brothers, Brooks Hawkins of Cincinnati and Robert Hawkins of Clermont County, Ohio; sisters, Kay Shouse and Helen Barlion, both of Cincinnati, and JoAnn Deitch of St. Cloud, Fla.; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at noon Friday at Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Johns Hill Cemetery, Wilder.
Bonnie Wolfe Huffman, 53, of Walton, died Tuesday at her home. She was a homemaker and a former bus driver with Walton-Verona School District.
Survivors include her husband, Bill Huffman; sons, Bill Huffman Jr. of Covington and Homer Huffman of Walton; daughters, Tina Stamper of Independence and Tracy Halpin of Morning View; her mother, Mary Wolfe of Independence; a brother, Lenny Wolfe of Florence; a sister, Wanda Bach of Independence; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be at 7 tonight at Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home, Verona. Visitation will begin there at 4 p.m. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at New Bethel Cemetery, Verona.
Ruth Glenna Groger Locknane, 79, of Erlanger, died Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a retired secretary with NCR and a member of Banklick Christian Church, Covington.
Survivors include daughters, Barbara Herbert of Milford, Ohio, Linda Jones of Gulfport, Miss., and Dallas Hegge of Erlanger; a son, Larry Locknane of Florence; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.

Earnest McKinley, 81, of Leesburg, Fla., formerly of Independence, died Monday at his son's home in Morning View. He was a retired welding maintenance technician with General Motors, and a member of Haines Creek Baptist Church in Leesburg and Bradford Masonic Lodge No. 123. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include daughters, Judith Klette of Ridgeview, Fla., Linda Coomer of Dry Ridge, Patsy Scudder of Hebron and Reene Barnett of Napoleon; sons, Bill Hughes of Sarasota, Fla., Donald McKinley of Demossville, Ernie McKinley of Morning View and Steve McKinley of Dry Ridge; a sister, Frances Courtney of Union; brothers, Bernard McKinley of Union and Russell McKinley of Columbus; 20 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Juanita Clemons Newell, 71, of Florence, died of cancer Tuesday at her home.

John T. Wiley, 88, of Ludlow, died at 2 a.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington. He was a retired electrician with Formica Co. in Cincinnati and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Eleanor Morrow Wiley; sons, Richard Wiley of Avon Lake, Ohio, and John G. Wiley of Independence; a brother, Lilbon Wiley of Erlanger; sisters, Auline Brimbery of Erlanger and Frances Bradbury of Atlanta; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Helen Kuntz Zytt, 92, of Melbourne, died Monday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. She was a retired tailor.
Survivors include sisters, Mary Truesdell of Melbourne and Catherine Richard of Newport; and brothers, Carl Kuntz of Southgate, Earl Kuntz of Crestview Hills, Robert Kuntz of Lebanon, Ohio, and George Kuntz of Fort Mitchell.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas. Cremation Society of Greater Cincinnati is handling arrangements.
