Jeffrey Meyers saw friends in all
Jeffrey W. Meyers did nice things for people. When a co-worker's wedding dress was stolen from her car, he purchased another gown for her. When a little girl wanted a toy that her mother couldn't afford, Mr. Meyers bought it.
"This is what gave him pleasure," said his wife, Marlene Hackman Meyers. "He was just genuinely a very kind man."
Mr. Meyers, 59, of Edgewood, died Monday at his residence. He was a partner with the Fisher Design Co., Cincinnati and a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, Fort Mitchell, and Change of Heart.
In 1986, Mr. Meyers was the 21st heart transplant recipient at University of Cincinnati Medical Center. "We feel so fortunate to have had the extra 14 years with him," Mrs. Meyers said. "He was able to see his grandchildren grow up and to see his daughter and son get married."
Mr. Meyers was interested in Native Americans, their culture and beliefs. He often donated to the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota and was adopted by the Sioux Nation, who gave him the Indian name of "Two Hearts." "That always meant a lot to him," Mrs. Meyers said.
