Clara Ware's sewing reflected creativity
Clara B. Ware of Latonia used to make dresses and other garments for relatives and members of her church.
"She was a very good seamstress," said her daughter, Pauline L. Lucas of Latonia. "She sewed all the time.
"She could see something in a store window and come home and make it. She would just remember. When she was young, she used to take brown paper bags and make her own patterns."
Mrs. Ware, 102, died Monday at her residence. She was a homemaker.
A member of First Bap tist Church, Covington, she formerly served on the Missionary Board. She also involved in other organizations of the church.
Mrs. Ware was always good with her hands. She knitted and crocheted, loved arts and crafts, and used to take large ice-cream containers and turn them into colorful waste paper baskets.
Ms. Lucas said her mother lived a long life because she always took care of herself. Mrs. Ware didn't take over-the-counter medicine, her daughter said. She always ate plenty of fruits and vegetables.
Mrs. Ware loved preparing pies and cakes for her family.
"She was always a sweet mother," Ms. Lucas said.
Other survivors include a son, Emory Ware Sr. of Cincinnati; nine grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Covington. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Mary Smith Memorial Cemetery, Elsmere. Jones and Simpson Funeral Home, Covington, is handling arrangements.
Robinson T. "Bo" Conrad Jr., 71, of Covington, died Sunday at his residence. He was a retired truck driver and sexton.
Survivors include his wife, Margie Conrad; daughters, Marilyn Conrad, Robbie Conrad, Frances Conrad, Cynthia Le Marbe and Brenda Wallers, all of Covington; sons, Rodney Conrad and Robinson Conrad III, both of Covington; a brother, Charles Conrad Sr. of Dayton, Ohio; 21 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at noon Thursday at Jones and Simpson Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Linden Grove Cemetery, Covington.
Judge Robert Leroy Cox, 71, of Tupelo, Miss., died Monday at Daniel Nursing Center in Fulton, Miss. He was a retired administrative law judge for the Social Security Administration in Florence, Ala., and an Air Force veteran.
He formerly worked for the Department of Labor in Cincinnati; served in the Solicitor's Office of the U.S. Department of Interior; and the Tupelo Office of Hearings and Appeals where he retired as Chief Judge in 1998.
Judge Cox was a former national vice president for the Association of Administrative Law Judges; former vice chairman for the National Young Republicans; and a member of the Oklahoma and Mississippi bar associations.
He was a member of the First Christian Church of Tupelo and Tupelo Kiwanis Club.
Survivors include his wife, Winnie Jo Perry Cox; sons, Steve Cox of Union and Radford Cox of Atlanta; sisters, Mary Lou Cox of Dallas and Alice Crews of Plano, Texas; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First Christian Church of Tupelo. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 tonight and from 9 a.m. until time of services Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Blackwell, Okla., Cemetery.

Marlena D. Felthaus, 39, of Florence, died at 3:47 a.m. Monday at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati. She was an administrative assistant with Bahl and Gaynor Investments, Cincinnati, and a former employee of PNC Bank. She was a member of St. Paul Church, Florence, and was active in dance at the Ziegler Dance Studio, Covington.
Survivors include her husband, Brian Robert Felthaus; daughters, Melissa Felthaus, Maria Felthaus and Julie Felthaus, all at home; her parents, Richard and Hertha Edwards of Fort Wright; brothers, Richard Edwards of Walton and Michael Edwards of Ludlow; and a sister, Linda Mattis of Harrison, Ohio.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Agnes Church, Fort Wright. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Fort Mitchell. Hester Bedinger Guard, 101, of Vevay, Ind., formerly of Walton, died Monday at Swiss Villa Living Center, Vevay. She was a retired teacher with Taylor High School in North Bend, Ohio, and a member of Methodist Missionary Society. Her husband, Shirley H. Guard, died in 1967.
Survivors include a son, Thomas Everett Guard of Walton; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
No services are planned. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Walton. Burial will follow visitation at Hughes Chapel Cemetery, Richwood.
Debbie K. Hemingway, 51, of Sparta, died at 9 a.m. Monday at her residence. She was a homemaker and a member of Sparta Baptist Church, where she was an assistant Sunday school teacher.
Survivors include her husband, John Douglas Hemingway; sons, Donald Hemingway of Owenton, James Hemingway of Carrollton and Johnny Hemingway of Worthville; daughters, Patricia Edmondson of Dry Ridge and Karen Hall of Warsaw; brothers, Donald King of Ghent, Jimmy King of Carrollton and Ronnie King of Warsaw; sisters, Mary Bladen of Ghent, Dorothy Courtney of Carrollton and Rosie King of Owenton; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home, Verona. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glencoe Cemetery.
Charles Arthur Hester, 71, of Norwood, Ohio, formerly of Taylor Mill, died at 7:37 a.m. Tuesday at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati. He was a retired machine operator for General Electric Co.
Survivors include sons, Tony Hester of Union, Greg L. Hester of Cincinnati and Jeff J. Hester of Crescent Springs; a daughter, Charlene Smith of Bellevue; a brother, Bill Hester of Florence; eight grandchildren.

Marcella Hoffman, 88, of Louisville, formerly of Fort Mitchell, died at 12:50 a.m. Sunday at Hill Creek Manor in Louisville. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Jo Seissiger of San Francisco; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Doris Ann Jones, 59, of Mays Lick, died at 6:20 a.m. Tuesday at Fleming County Hospital. She was a licensed practical nurse for Hospice of Hope. She was a member of Mays Lick Baptist Church and Kentucky Hospice Association.
Survivors include her husband, Donald E. Jones; daughters, April Duncan of Fayetteville, N.C., and Donna Jean Tomasevich of Harleysville, Pa.; a son, Anthony Jones of Blue Ash, Ohio; her mother, Alma Cooper Bays of West Union, Ohio; sisters, Brenda Sue Saleh of Mays Lick, Dora Stegall and Betty Morrison, both of Manchester, Ohio, and Barbara Kuhn, Diane Scott and Claudette Creech, all of Adams County, Ohio; brothers, Harold Bays of Muncie, Ind., Harry Bays of Mount Orab, Ohio, Walter Bays of Galesburg, Mich., and Eugene Bays of Lanesville, Ind.; and five grandchildren.

Bessie Larmour, 54, of Owenton, died Monday at Owen County Memorial Hospital in Owenton. She was a nurse for Owen County Memorial Hospital, and she baked cakes for weddings and special occasions. She was a member of Owenton Lions Club.
Survivors include her husband, Larry Larmour; sons, David Larmour of Atlanta and Andy Larmour of Owenton; a daughter, Maria Larmour of Owenton; brothers, Frank Combest of Kalamazoo, Mich., Jerry Combest of Shepherdsville and George Combest of Lexington; sisters, Helen Alfaro of Austin, Texas, Rose Schmidt of Shepherdsville and Mary Ruth Owens of Bardstown; and three great-grandchildren.

William Keith Lillard, 45, of Florence, died Saturday at Cape Coral Hospital in Cape Coral, Fla. He was a driver and delivery person for Bambeck and Vest Construction Co., Cincinnati.
Survivors include sons, Bryan Lillard of Erlanger and Justin Lillard of Florence; his mother, Janet Lillard of Florence; his father and stepmother, William and Sandra Lillard of Florence; and sisters, Kathleen Lillard Schmidt of Cincinnati and Karen Lillard Colvin of Dayton.

Frank Martin Sr., 66, of Bromley, died at 1:10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North in Covington. He was a retired UAW worker for Ford Motor Co. and a Marine Corps veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Ina Jane Dishman Martin; sons, Harvey Martin Jr. at home and Jeff Martin of Crescent Springs; daughters, Ina Lee Martin and Jackie Martin, both at home; a stepson, Jesse Chaplin at home; stepdaughters, Martha Miracle at home, Pam Hatton of Newport and Mary Jent of Richwood; a brother, Dewey Martin of Fort Myers, Fla.; 19 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Robert "Bob" Schaum, 72, of Florence, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North in Covington. He was a retired furniture finisher for Lazarus and a member of St. Paul Church, Florence.
Survivors include his wife, Martha June Schaum of Florence.

Henrietta Iles Sendelbach, 85, of Highland Heights, died at 8:55 p.m. Sunday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Joseph Sendelbach, died in 1977.
Survivors include sons, Donald Sendelbach of Grants Lick and John Sendelbach of Melbourne; a daughter, Phyllis Bennett of Covington; brothers, Harlan Iles, Jerry Iles, Bobby Iles and Harry Iles, all of Covington, and Charles Iles of Independence; sisters, Bertie Clark and Lucy Clark, both of Covington, and Betty Casey of Independence; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Marjorie B. Stafford, 87, of Carrollton, died Monday at Norton's Hospital in Louisville. She was a retired teacher for the Carroll County School System and a member of the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association and Carrollton Women's Club. Her husband, Elmer S. "Shucks" Stafford, preceded her in death.
Survivors include several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Gloria L. Johnson Wood, 64, of Fort Thomas, died Monday at her residence. She was a secretary for Westfield Insurance Companies, Cincinnati, and a member of First Church of the Nazarene, Newport. A son, Mark Wood, preceded her in death.
Survivors include daughters, Sharon Bettis and Brenda Raleigh, both of Fort Thomas; a son, Ricky L. Goodin of Cold Spring; her mother, Iva Tolson of Cincinnati; brothers, Don Johnson of Fort Thomas and Henry Johnson Jr. of Lexington; a sister, Beverly Kowolonek of Florence; her fiance, Robert Goodin of Cold Spring; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
