Henry G. Kuhn, loved travel, swim club
Henry G. Kuhn, who had traveled to almost every state in the United States, died a t 4:50 a.m. Saturday at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati. He was 68.
Mr. Kuhn had only missed Alaska in his travels, which he did mainly by car, his sister said.
He and his wife, who was his high school sweetheart at Dixie Heights High School, were just six months shy of their 50th wedding anniversary.
"They were really looking forward to their golden anniversary," said his sister, Rose Marie Abbott of Fort Thomas.
Mr. Kuhn, a retired estimator for the Standard Publishing Co. in Cincinnati, was born in Indiana and grew up in Northern Kentucky. After living a few years in Florida, he moved to Monroe, Ohio.
But Mr. Kuhn lived much of his life in Taylor Mill.
There, he was active in the community, as a member of the Lions Club and a past president of the Taylor Mill Swim Club.
Mr. Kuhn was at the swim club every summer, Mrs. Abbott said, and liked to swim. He also put in many hours as the pool's president.
"He was very good-natured," she said.
Mr. Kuhn was also a steam locomotive enthusiast and loved the Cincinnati Zoo.
Other survivors include his wife Patricia Lee Kuhn; daughters, Tami M. Thompson of Liberty Township, Ohio, and Joy F. auf dem Kampe of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and five grandchildren.
Services were Monday at Webb Noonan Funeral Home, Hamilton, Ohio. Burial was in St. Mary Cemetery, Hamilton.
Memorials are suggested to Senior Citizens, Ross Avenue and C Street, Hamilton, Ohio 45013.
Sidney Beckham, 78, of Erlanger, died Monday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington.
Arrangements are pending at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger.
John A. "Jack" Dunaway Sr., 75, of Newport, died Friday at Veterans Administration Medical Center, Cincinnati. He was a retired baker with Dolly Madison, Cincinnati.
Survivors include sons, James Dunaway, John Dunaway Jr. and William Dunaway, all of Newport, Gregory Dunaway of Crossville, Tenn., and Joseph Dunaway of Bellevue; daughters, Judith Sweeney of Independence and Susan Dunaway of Covington; a sister, Dorothy Nugent of Erlanger; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Spirit Church, Newport. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Radel Funeral Home, Newport. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Southgate.
Joseph E. Goodbody, 88, of Cincinnati, formerly of Ludlow, died Tuesday at Franciscan Hospital, Cincinnati.
Arrangements are pending at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow.
Robert L. Hamilton, 67, of Covington, died at 4:50 a.m. Monday at Deaconess Hospital, Cincinnati. He was a plumber and painter with Augur Co.
Survivors include his wife, Georgia Hamilton; a son, Robert W. Hamilton of Covington; a daughter, Becky Oliver of Latonia; brothers, Everett L. Hamilton of Florence, Marion Hamilton of Louisville and Earl T. Hamilton of Macon, Ga.; and one grandchild.
Services will be at noon Thursday at Catchen Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth.
Emma Osbourn Kinman, 90, of Williamstown, died at 2:20 p.m. Monday at Gallatin Health Care Center, Warsaw. She was a homemaker and a former practical nurse with Dry Ridge Personal Care Center. She was a member of Concord Baptist Church in Dry Ridge. Her husband, Hiram Samuel Kinman, died in 1979. A son, Estil Kinman, and daughters, Jeannette Kinman and Nadine, all preceded her in death.
Survivors in clude sons, James B. Kinman, Kenneth Kinman and Harold Kinman, all of Hartford, Ala., and Thurman Kinman of Jonesville; daughters, Betty Hunter, Freda Stephenson and Glenna Smith, all of Crittenden, and Linda Woodyard of Williamstown; a brother, James Osbourn of Sanders; a sister, Lenora Stamper of Bloomington, Ill.; 17 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Concord Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown, and after 1 p.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Owenton. Memorials are suggested to Gallatin Health Care Center Activity Fund, Warsaw, Ky. 41095.
Jimmie Lee Messmer, 64, of Verona, died Monday at St. Luke Hospital West in Florence. He was a farmer and formerly worked for Ohio Knife Co., Cincinnati, and was a former custodian for Walton-Verona Elementary School. He was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church, Verona, where he was formerly a deacon. His wife, Roberta Cobb Messmer, died in 1990.
Survivors include sons, James Lee Messmer of Verona and John William Messmer of Covington; a daughter, Amy Littrell of Dry Ridge; his mother, Bonnie Belle Messmer of Verona; sisters, Sue Northcutt of Sherman, Bonita Jones of Walton and Judy Messmer of Verona; and one grandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at New Bethel Baptist Church, Verona. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home, Verona. Arthur H. Myers, 83, of Cincinnati, formerly of Covington, died Monday at West Hills Nursing Home, Cincinnati. He was a self-employed steel painter. His wife, Gwendolyn Myers, died in 1998.
Survivors include a sister, Evelyn Cooper of Cincinnati; nieces and nephews.

James A. Roeding, 67, of Cincinnati, formerly of Fort Mitchell and Park Hills, died Monday at Hospice of Cincinnati. He was a retired agent with Brower Insurance Agency, a member of American Legion Post No. 484 in Cincinnati, and a Navy veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Rosemary Carney Roeding; daughters, Sue Stapleton of Shandon, Ohio, Pat Roeding of Northfield, Vt., and Meg Ryan of Cincinnati; sons, Randy Roeding of Cincinnati and Tom Roeding of Fort Thomas; his mother, Alice Roeding of Fort Mitchell; a brother, Sen. Patricia Mae Haines Schomaker, 55, of Fort Thomas, died at 7:59 a.m. Monday at St. Luke Hospital East in Fort Thomas. She was a medical assistant with Magenheim & Lowey, Cincinnati.
Survivors include her husband, Stephen P. Schomaker; daughters, Valerie L. Bleser of Honolulu, Hawaii, Danielle N. Schomaker and Stephanie M. Schomaker, both of Fort Thomas; a son, Robert C. Tabor of West Harrison, Ind.; her mother, Esther Haines of Cincinnati; sisters, Barbara Horstmeyer, Penny McDonald and Candy Harris, all of Cincinnati; a brother, Mike Haines of Cincinnati; and two grandchildren.
