Eileen Malone, grocer and loving mom
For more than 20 years, Eileen A. Malone took care of her family, her grocery st ore and her customers.
"She would fix dinner in the back and then go out front and wait on her customers," said a daughter-in-law, Janet Malone of Ludlow.
"It was a hard life, but she did everything in a loving way."
Mrs. Malone, 76, of Bromley, died Tuesday at the Drake Center in Cincinnati.
She was a retired owner of the former B&E; Market in Ludlow, which closed in 1986.
She was a member of Sts. Boniface and James Church in Ludlow and was a former member of Ludlow Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
In her youth, Mrs. Malone enjoyed bowling and attending dances at the Ludlow firehouse. Later, she enjoyed playing cards with members of the fire department auxiliary.
Mrs. Malone was born and raised in Ludlow.
"She was a mother of seven and was there to support them and let them know when they got out of line," Janet Malone said.
"She was always there for her family."
Other survivors include her husband, James "Bud" Malone; sons, Mike Malone of Covington, and Denny Malone and Artie Malone, both of Ludlow; daughters, Sharon Sizemore of Ludlow, Debbie Whittington of Clearwater, Fla., Barbara Roden of Cincinnati and Karen Denham of Bromley; a brother, Michael Terry of Ludlow; sisters, Francis Wagner of Ludlow and Margaret Klosterman of Covington; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Sts. Boniface and James Church, Ludlow. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.
Terry R. Boerger, 59, of Covington, died at 2:17 a.m. Tuesday at his residence. From 1966 to 1983, he owned Boerger Dairy Farms, the family business begun in 1906. He also had worked for other local dairies.
He was a member of Mother of God Parish, Covington; former member of parish council at Mother of Sorrows Church, Cincinnati; and past president of National Ice Cream Retailers Association.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia A. Schwegman Boerger; daughters, Lori M. Boerger of Crestview Hills, Irene M. Boerger and Emily M. Boerger, both of Covington, and Barbara M. Costian of Plano, Texas; a sister, Joyce Volz of Cincinnati; and a grandson.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Mother of God Church, Covington. Visitation will be from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Covington. Lena Gordon, 96, of Latonia, died at 7:26 p.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood.
Arrangements are pending at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia.
Helen Stenger Herms, 97, of Dayton, died Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a retired manager of Rosenthal Furriers and a member of St. Bernard Church, Dayton. Her husband, Charles J. Herms, died in 1970.
Survivors include daughters, Ramona Burkart of Fort Thomas, Janet Herms, Carol Lynn and Ruth Poos, all of Dayton, and Rita Watka of Walton; sons, Larry Herms of Cincinnati and Tom Herms of Cold Spring; 30 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great- grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Bernard Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Bellevue. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas. Memorials are suggested to St. Bernard Church, Fifth and Berry Ave., Dayton, Ky. 41074.
Velma Doris Howard, 72, of Burlington, died at 8:53 p.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood.

Eleanor Kuhnheim, 76, of Newport, died Monday at St. Luke Hospital East in Fort Thomas. She was a retired nurse's aide for Lakeside Place Nursing Home, Highland Heights, and Rosedale Manor, Latonia. Her husband, Elmer Kuhnheim, preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons, Jim Jackson of Aurora, Ind., Dale Kuhnheim and Wayne Kuhnheim, both of Melbourne, and Gary Kuhnheim of Erlanger; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Bellevue. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate. Mary Ellen Metcalf, 101, of Erlanger, died at 12:10 a.m. Sunday at Florence Park Care Center in Florence. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Guy B. Metcalf, died in 1974. A daughter, Ann Rae Diehl, died in 1998.
Survivors include a grandson, Edward B. Diehl of Erlanger; and two granddaughters. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Erlanger. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hill Crest Cemetery, Dry Ridge. Morris Morgan, 68, of Alexandria, died Sunday at his residence. He was a retired clerk for Hess and Racke, Alexandria. His wife, Isbell Morgan, preceded him in death.
Survivors include a son, Morris E. Morgan of Fort Thomas; daughters, Joann Karlson-Breen of Norwood, Ohio, Karen Palovich of Independence, Donna Rush of Walton and Judy Lawrence of Newport; a brother, Herbert Morgan of Williamstown; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Radel Funeral Home, Highland Heights. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.
Diane Bratton Pendergest, 53, of Dayton, died Monday at St. Luke Hospital East in Fort Thomas. She was a homemaker and a Presbyterian.
Survivors include her husband, Roger Pendergest; a daughter, Kristi Brock of Fort Thomas; a sister, Judy Goecke of Tucson, Ariz.; and one grandchild.

Emma Willoughby, 92, of Morning View, died at 8:05 a.m. Tuesday at Gallatin Health Care Center in Warsaw.
She formerly worked for Fashion Frock Co., Cincinnati. She was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church, Taylor Mill, and a former member of Eastern Star. Her husband, John "Jack" Willoughby, died in 1951.
Survivors include a nephew, Joseph Ray "Bud" Cheesman of Morning View.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Springdale, Ohio.

George F. "Doodle" Wilson Jr., 66, of Worthville, died Tuesday at his residence. He was retired from Karneer Co., Carrollton, former mayor of Worthville, and an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Worthville Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Alice O'Conner Wilson; sons, Danny Stinson and William Stinson, both of Carrollton, Mike Wilson of Worthville and Ricky Wilson of San Antonio, Texas; daughters, Brenda Sullivan of Bedford and Monica Wilson of Carrollton; sisters, Bertha Popp and Sharon Wilson, both of Worthville; a brother, Earl Wilson of Carrollton; and 14 grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Graham-Dunn Funeral Home, Carrollton. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Worthville Cemetery.
