Robert Burkart, chiropractor for 55 years
Dr. Robert J. Burkart, a chiropractor for 55 years, hated for people to be in pa in.
"He liked to help people get rid of the pain," said his wife, Lauretta Burkart of Highland Heights.
"He didn't like the idea of all the medication and by being a chiropractor you can relieve the pain through adjustments rather than medication," Mrs. Burkart said. "He like that part very much."
Dr. Burkart, 85, of Highland Heights, died at 3:45 a.m. Wednesday at his home.
Five years ago, Dr. Burkart suffered kidney failure and had to begin dialysis treatments. It was then, at the age of 80, he decided to retire. He hadn't thought about leaving his practice until he became ill.
He was a member of the Kentucky Chiropractic Association and the Fifth District Association. Dr. Burkart also was a member of the VFW Post No. 5662 in Newport and the St. Joseph Credit Union. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Dr. Burkart enjoying camping, square dancing and traveling.
Other survivors are a daughter, Debra Foss of Alexandria; and a sister, Ruth Ann Burkart of Alexandria.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring. Dr. Burkart donated his body to the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Catchen Funeral Home, Elsmere, is handling arrangements.
Edna Emma Bastian, 93, of Union, died Wednesday at Woodspoint Nursing Home, Florence. She was an employee of Spring Manufacturing Co., Cincinnati, and a member of Immanuel Evangelical Reformed Church in Cincinnati.
Survivors include a son, William Hurlbert of Homosassa, Fla.; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Floral Hills cemetery Chapel, Taylor Mill. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery. Stith Funeral Home, Florence, is handling arrangements.
Mabel D. Antrobus Bradford, 76, of Erlanger, died at 7:50 p.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a retired banking clerk with the Federal Reserve Bank, Cincinnati, and a member of First Baptist Church, Covington. Her husband, Carlton W. Bradford, died in 1999.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Erlanger. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Highland Mausoleum, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church, 14 Brent Spence Square, Covington, Ky. 41011.
Marbeth Ann Hoskins, 61, of California, died at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday at her home. She was a food service supervisor with Northern Kentucky University.
Survivors include her husband, Leon Hoskins; a daughter, Regina Hoskins of California; a son, Daniel Hoskins of California; and a brother, Donald Thomas of Florence.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Alexandria Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mount Gilead Cemetery, Carthage.

Leslie Kennedy Sr., 87, of Covington, died at 3:10 p.m. Wednesday at Grant Manor, Williamstown.
He was a maintenance worker with OPW Fueling Components, Cincinnati.
Survivors include a son, Leslie Kennedy Jr. of Covington; a daughter, Ruth Hamm of Williamstown; 12 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Catchen Funeral Home, Covington.
Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Friday.
Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.
George "Jim" McGee, 84, of Florence, died at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
He was a retired dispatcher with Cincinnati Gas and Electric Co. and a past commander Kelly Furnish VFW Post No. 7099, Covington.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
His wife, Margaret McGee, died in 1995.
Survivors include a son, Michael McGee of Lakeside Park; daughters, Arlene Depenbrock of Fort Mitchell, Karen Anderson of Erlanger and Judy Bieden horn of Crittenden; 18 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow.
Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.

Paul L. Nienaber, 79, of Florence, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
He was an employee of United Parcel Service, and a member of St. Paul Church, Florence.
He was a member of Teamsters Union Local No. 100 in Cincinnati, Tri-City Senior Group at St. Henry Church and St. Paul Church, and a Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Mersch Nienaber; sons, Tom Nienaber of Richwood and Paul Nienaber Jr. of Indianapolis; daughters, Sharon McHugh of Richwood and Terri Williams of Knoxville, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial was this morning at St. Paul Church, Florence.
Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright.

Norman E. Stites, 70, of Florence, died at 9:20 p.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington.
He was a conductor with Conrail Railroad.
Survivors include his wife, Grace Stites; sons, Norma E. Stites Jr. of Florence and David Stites of Erlanger; a daughter, Sharon Lee Krumpelman of Fort Mitchell; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Catchen Funeral Home, Elsmere.
Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Friday.
Burial will be in Hopeful Lutheran Cemetery, Florence.
Sue Carol Thompson, 64, of Dayton, died Saturday at Hilltop Nursing Home, Cincinnati.
