Harry Meacham, helped raise money for heliport
Harry L. Meacham was an electrical engineer who worked on the design of more tha n 90 large construction projects in Greater Cincinnati, including at the University of Cincinnati, Jewish Hospital, Procter & Gamble Co. and the Westin Hotel.
Mr. Meacham, 69, of Florence, died Thursday at his home.
Born in Indiana, he traveled down the East Coast in the 1950s as an engineer with a gas pipeline company.
He eventually relocated to Cincinnati and worked as an electrical contractor for Becker Electric until he retired in 1980, said his son, Dr. James E. Meacham of Indianapolis.
After retiring, he continued to work as a contractor on a freelance basis.
He pushed for and helped raise money to build a heliport at University Hospital.
"He was a quiet man - a loner is the best way I could put it," his son said. "He was a fairly quiet, detail-oriented planner. . . . He loved drawing and drafting.
"He worked at a drafting table probably right up until he died."
Mr. Meacham was a Coast Guard veteran of World War II.
For relaxation, he enjoyed fishing, his son said.
Survivors include other sons Scott D. Meacham of Hebron, David L. Meacham of Lexington and Dr. Christopher Meacham of Cincinnati; a daughter, Rev. Janet Fromm of Lexington; a brother, Allen E. Meacham of Phoenix; and six grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Catchen and Son Funeral Home, Elsmere-Erlanger, is handling arrangements.
William Martin Bailey, 91, formerly of Walton, died
Thursday at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital in Lake Charles, La.
He was a retired machinist and farmer and a member of Petersburg Masonic Lodge.
His first wife, Mary Setters Bailey, died in 1979.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma Jones Bailey of Erlanger; a son, William Ronald Bailey of South Hampton, Miss.; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Walton. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with masonic services at 7 p.m.
Burial will be in Big Bone Church Cemetery, Union.

Helen G. Frede Blackshear, 77, of Bellevue, died Wednesday at her home.
She was a homemaker and a Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include a daughter, Diane Emmerich of Bellevue; two grandchildren and one great- grandchild.
Private services will be at the convenience of the family.

Rose Bowen, 101, of Fort Wright, died at 4 p.m. Friday at Grant Manor Care Center in Williamstown.
She was a retired packer for Donaldson Art Sign Co., Covington, and was the oldest living member of Calvary Baptist Church, Latonia.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Gardnersville Cemetery.

Frank Grubb, 89, of Barbourville, formerly of Newport, died Thursday at Knox County Hospital in Barbourville.
He was a retired farmer and mill worker and a member of the Baptist faith.
His first wife, Loma Grubb, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Ann Davis Mills Grubb; a daughter, Judy Kroger of Fort Mitchell; sons, Lincoln Grubb of Dayton and Oren Grubb of South Bend, Ind.; 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hopper Funeral Home, Barbourville. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.
Lena Jane Gunther, 80, of Latonia, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North in Covington.
She was a retired cashier for the former Brothers III restaurant, Cincinnati.
Survivors include daughters, Kathleen Hanas and Melinda "Mindy" Ashcraft, both of Erlanger, and Kristina Moreland of Florence; a brother, Joseph Hicks Spears of Florence; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Forest Lawn cemetery Chapel, Erlanger. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Monday at the cemetery chapel.
Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Lydia M. Huffaker, 85, of Independence, died at 11 p.m. Thursday at Lyndon Lane Nursing Center in Louisville.
She was a retired nutritionist for the University of Kentucky and a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church.
Her husband, William M. Huffaker, died in 1968. A daughter, Joyce Lewis, died in 1999.
Survivors include sons, William Huffaker Jr. of Covington, Samuel Huffaker of Independence and John Mark Huffaker of Louisville; a daughter, Wilma Moody of Jeffersonville, Ind.; 12 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at noon Monday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.
Sister Marion Osterhage, CDP, 91, of Melbourne, died at 6 a.m. Thursday at Holy Family Home in Melbourne.
She was a member of the Congregation of Divine Providence for 71 years, having served as a teacher and principal at several Catholic schools in Ohio.
Survivors include a sister, Sister Claudia Osterhage, RSM, of Fremont, Ohio; and a brother, Vincent Osterhage of Toledo, Ohio.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at St. Anne Convent, Melbourne. Visitation will begin at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the convent, with a wake service at 3 p.m. Burial will be in St. Anne Convent Cemetery, Melbourne.

Clifford Wickemeyer, 71, of Dayton, died Thursday at Highland Health Care Center in Highland Heights. He was a retired dishwasher for F&N; Steak House.
