Frank Wolnitzek, Fort Wright councilman
Frank C. Wolnitzek was a civic-minded family man who also excelled at running his catering business.
And although Mr. Wolnitzek, a former council member in Fort Wright, was well-known as Chef Barone, it was his dedication to his family that his son, Jeff Wolnitzek, will remember the most.
"His whole life centered around his kids. He never wanted more than for his kids to do well in life," said Jeff Wolnitzek, who followed his father's footsteps and became a member of the Fort Wright City Council.
"All seven of his kids have college degrees. He was very proud of us."
Frank Wolnitzek, 69, of Florence, died Sunday at St. Luke Hos pital West in Florence.
He was the owner of Chef Bar one's Catering in Park Hills and was a member of the Fort Wright City Council about 30 years ago.
Mr. Wolnitzek was a former Kenton County constable and was a member of the Erlanger Lions Club and was a past exalted ruler of Covington Elks. He was a former officer of the Kentucky Restaurant Association and a past president of the Fort Wright Civic Club.
A Navy veteran, Mr. Wolnitzek was a member of the Fort Wright Volunteer Fire Department and life squad and a past president of the Standard Club. His first wife, Mary Ann Wolnitzek, preceded him in death.
Mr. Wolnitzek was a Covington native who came from a family of 12.
"He was outspoken, but in a positive way," Jeff Wolnitzek said. "He was always optimistic, he was always upbeat. He helped other people and enjoyed being around people."
Mr. Wolnitzek is also survived by his wife, Brenda Wolnitzek; daughters, Diane Russell and Carolyn Jean Stein, both of Edgewood, Becky Wolnitzek of Erlanger, Jill Wolnitzek and Julie Wolnitzek, both of Villa Hills; another son, Gary Wolnitzek of Villa Hills; sisters, Lucille Cox of Fort Mitchell and Rita King of Westerville, Ohio; a brother, Harold Wolnitzek of Crescent Springs; and nine grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Agnes Church, Fort Wright. Visitation will begin there at 4 p.m. Thurs day. Burial will be at Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright. Memorials are suggested to Redwood Rehabilitation Center, 71 Orphanage Road, Fort Mitchell, Ky. 41017; or Erlanger Lions Club, 5996 Belair Drive, Erlanger, Ky. 41018. Dobbling Funeral Home, Fort Thomas, is handling arrangements.
Phillip Clay Bass Sr., 49, of Ocala, Fla., formerly of Covington, died Saturday at his home. He was a computer materials handler and a member of Trinity Baptist Church of Ocala. He was a pre-school music teacher and women's softball coach at the church, and was a Marine Corps veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Melanie M. Bass; daughters, Noelle Laga, Lindsey Elliott and Jenna Elliott, all of Ocala; a son, Phillip Clay Bass Jr. of Independence; his parents, Henry C. and Jessie M. Bass of Silver Springs, Fla.; and sisters, Jan Burden, Judy Wells and Kay Markesberg, all of Ken tucky.
Services will be at 5 p.m. today at Trinity Baptist Church, Ocala. Visitation will begin there at 4 p.m. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fla. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Baptist Church Building Fund, 1600 SE 58th Ave., Ocala, Fla. 34471. Hiers Funeral Home, Ocala, is handling arrangements.
William Dickman, 79, of Florence, died at 5:55 p.m. Sunday at St. Luke Hospital West in Florence. He was a retired yard master with L&N; Railroad, a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church in Taylor Mill and a Navy veteran of World War II. His wife, Thelma Dickman, died in 1990.
Survivors include a son, William Dickman Jr. of Ryland Heights; a stepson, Arnold Taylor of Edgewood; a daughter, Brenda Geiger of Florence; a stepdaughter, Sheila Cooper of Taylor Mill; a sister, Lyda Maxey of Orlando, Fla.; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger. Memorials are suggested to Seventh Day Adventist Church, 5235 Taylor Mill Road, Taylor Mill, Ky. 41015.
Robert Kenneth Fulmer, 49, of Newport, died Sunday at St. Luke Hospital East Hospice, Fort Thomas. A son, Joseph Fulmer, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Fulmer; sons, Robert Charles Fulmer and Eric Anthony Fulmer, both of Newport; his parents, Robert and Marylou Fulmer of Newport; a brother, Tom Fulmer of Fort Thomas; sisters, Judy Trautman and Lisa Fulmer, both of Newport, and Cathy Ahlbrand of Cold Spring; and two grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Stephen-Holy Spirit Church, Newport. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Radel Funeral Home, Newport. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate. Memorials are suggested to the family, in care of Robert and Marylou Fulmer.
Helen J. Hadley, 86, of Crestview, died at 11:45 p.m. Sunday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. She was a retired sales clerk with Pogue's Department Store, Cincinnati. Her husband, Charles Hadley, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, George Raum of Crestview; a sister, Shirley Grossheim of Newport; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Newport. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.
Joseph B. Hennessey, 85, of Augusta, died Sunday at Meadowview Regional Medical Center, Maysville. He was a retired lawyer, a former county attorney in Bracken County and a former city attorney for the City of Augusta.
He was a Bracken County trial commissioner, and a member of the Bracken and Mason county bar associations.
Mr. Hennessey was a member of the board of the Buffalo Trace Area Development District and the Knoedler Memorial Library Board in Augusta.
He was a member of Augusta VFW Post No. 9535, and St. Augustine Church in Augusta. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
A son, Joe David Hennessey, died in 1961.
Survivors include his wife, Irene Story Hennessey; a daughter, Alicia Stivers of Bowling Green; sisters, Ceil Hennessey, Florence Hennessey and Edith Waldeck, all of Cincinnati, and Esther Williams of Los Angeles; three granddaughters.

Joseph W. Maltaner, 75, of Verona, died at 2:30 p.m. Friday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. He was owner of LaMoore Heating and Air Conditioning Co. and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Maltaner; a son, Ronald Maltaner of Covington; daughters, Debra Grace of Florence, Karla Hildebrant of Joliet, Ill., and Sandy Lower of Erlanger; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Erlanger Baptist Church. Memorials are suggested to Verona Rescue Squad, 14924 Walton- Verona Road, Verona, Ky. 41092. Catchen Funeral Home, Elsmere, is handling arrangements.
June G. Mason, 74, of Southgate, died Monday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. She was a re tired secretary with Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate, and a member of Dayton Bellevue Christian Church in Dayton, Southgate Super Seniors and Crestview Mall Walkers.
Survivors include a son, Kent Mason of Lexington; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Bellevue. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Patsy Sue McGee, 63, of Cynthiana, died Monday at at her home. She was a retired teacher and a member of First United Methodist Church. She taught both in Ohio and in the Panama Canal Zone, and was the Harrison County Literacy coordinator for the past six years.
Survivors include her brother, Wayne McGee of Cynthiana; and a sister, Betsy Ann McGee of Cynthiana.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Battle Grove Cemetery, Cynthiana.

Alice J. Fanthorp Menne, 94, of Louisville, formerly of Park Hills, died at 11 a.m. Sunday at her home. She was a homemaker and a member of Zion Evangelical Lu theran Church, Park Hills. Her husband, John Tobias Menne, died in 1991. A son, Gorden Menne, died in 1980.
Survivors include a son, Ronald E. Menne of Louisville; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will begin there at noon Wednesday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.
Olimpia L. Reckner, 95, of Florence, died at 7:12 p.m. Sunday at Bell Manor Nursing Home, New Carlisle, Ohio. She was a homemaker, and a member of St. Paul Church in Florence, and senior citizens clubs in Florence, Covington, Erlanger and Cincinnati.
Survivors include a stepson, Robert Reckner of Medway, Ohio; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 12:10 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul Church.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Burial will be in Alexandria Cemetery.
Leonard W. Soward, 74, of San Jose, Calif., formerly of Covington, died Sunday at Oak Meadows Convalescent Hospital, Los Gatos, Calif.
Arrangements are pending at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia.
Mamie Gaines Tingle, 85, of West Chester, Ohio, formerly of Owen County, died Monday at West Chester Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was a homemaker. Her husband, Agee Tingle, preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons, Raymond Tingle and Harold Tingle, both of Cincinnati; a daughter, Louise Brown of Cincinnati; a brother, Thomas Gaines of Lusby Mill; eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and five great- great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thurs day at McDonald Funeral Home, Main Street, Owenton. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Thursday.
Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Owenton.
