Southgate's Helen Conway, 'vital' mom
Helen Frances Ragan Conway, of Southgate, a self-sufficient, independent mother, died Saturday at Carmel Manor Nursing Home in Fort Thomas. She was 93.
Mrs. Conway lived on her own until the last year of her life when illness and blindness, caused by diabetes, forced her to move to a nursing home.
"She was a very vital woman," said her daughter, Rose Marie Beiting.
Mrs. Conway, a mother of three, learned to drive at age 50, saying she was tired of being driven around. It wasn't until her doctor said her eyesight was too bad to drive that she stopped.
