Pearl McEntyre became church's librarian
Pearl Leah McEntyre enjoyed church, children and books.
So the perfect volunteer job for Mrs. McEntyre was taking care of the books at Trinity United Methodist Church in Latonia, where she was a member.
Mrs. McEntyre categorized the books and helped children find their subjects.
In effect, she became a librarian at the church, said a son, Ollie McEntyre of Latonia.
For her efforts, church members named their library after Mrs. McEntyre.
Mrs. McEntyre, 95, of Latonia, died at 7:50 p.m. Thursday at Grant Manor Health Care Center in Williamstown.
She was a homemaker and a former housemother for St. Elizabeth Medical Center School of Nursing.
Her husband, Clarence W. McEntyre Sr., died in 1956.
Mrs. McEntyre and her husband were Georgia natives who moved to Northern Kentucky as young adults.
Clarence McEntyre Sr. was an electrician who at one time owned his own firm in Cincinnati.
Other survivors include sons, Clarence W. McEntyre Jr. of Burlington and Kelly McEntyre of Lawrenceburg; brothers, Oscar Wallace of Newport News, Va., Oliver Wallace of Maylene, Ala., and Richard Wallace of Cleveland, Ga.; sisters, Lily Graden and Bonnie Wallace, both of Marietta, Ga., and Sue Baker of Newport News; nine grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.

Betty Elizabeth Fuller, 94, of St. Augustine, Fla., formerly of Newport, died Thursday at Ponce de Leon Care Center in St. Augustine.
Her husband, Henry L. Fuller, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Irene Adams of St. Augustine; sons, Richard Ellis of Latonia and Henry Fuller of Fort Thomas; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Craig Funeral Home Chapel, St. Augustine.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in San Lorenzo Cemetery, St. Augustine.

Ruby M. Gilliam, 72, of Cincinnati, formerly of Newport, died Friday at University Hospital, Cincinnati.
She was a homemaker.
Her husband, Rommie Lee Sorrell, died in 1988.
Survivors include sons, Jerry Sorrell of Lake Charles, La., Frank Tyndall of Cincinnati, Eugene A. Tyndall of Ohio, and Larry Kennedy of Stokesdale, Ala.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Radel Funeral Home, Newport.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.
Don Hopkins, 37, of Elsmere, died at 2:33 a.m. Friday at St. Luke Hospital West in Florence.
Survivors include his mother, Evelene Hensley of Elsmere; a half-brother, Paul Wilson of Harlan; a half-sister, Shirl Hopkins of Chicago; and his grandmother, Denise Hensley of Burlington.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Hebron.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Hebron Lutheran Cemetery.

Smitha Elizabeth Louden, 84, of Carrollton, died at 6:35 a.m. Thursday at King's Daughters Hospital in Madison, Ind.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist faith and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include daughters, Dorothy Fitzgerald and Mable Lee Stewart, both of Carrollton; a son, Charles Edward Louden of Carrollton; sisters, Anna Mary Wright and Katherine Coggleshall, both of Louisville; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Graham-Dunn Funeral Home, Carrollton.

Christine McKeown, 75, of Latonia, died at 9 p.m. Thursday at her residence.
She was a retired clerk for Walgreen Drug Stores, Latonia, and a member of Latonia Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Jack McKeown; a son, Jim McKeown of Latonia; a daughter, Jackie Dudderar of Edgewood; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.

Eleanor Marie Krebs Scheifers, 72, of Villa Hills, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Young Grandmothers Club.
Survivors include her husband, Jack Scheifers; sons, Steven M. Scheifers of Chicago and William B. Scheifers of Walton; daughters, Kimberly S. Webster of Hebron, Denise M. West of Florence and Jennifer L. Hansen of Knoxville, Tenn.; a brother, William Krebs of Erlanger; sisters, Monica K. Poe of Florence and Delores K. Carter of Lawrenceville, N.J.; and seven grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Church, Crescent Springs.

Eula Mae Vice, 89, of Covington, died at 4:10 a.m. Thursday at Woodspoint Care Center in Florence.
She was a retired domestic housekeeper.
Her husband, John Henry Vice, died in 1997.
Survivors include a daughter, Wanda Collins of Mount Sterling; a stepson, Samuel Vice of Mount Sterling; stepdaughters, Lorraine Sams, Opal Eversole and Ruth Lehman, all of Covington; several grandchildren, 20 step-grandchildren, 48 step-great-grandchildren and 35 step-great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Covington.
