Louis Von Lehmen, accountant, poet
Louis Bernard Von Lehmen, of Florence, a retired accountant with a love of poetry, died Saturday at his home. He was 75.
Mr. Von Lehmen's six children knew their father, the owner of V.L. Accounting in Erlanger, had written poetry before they were born. When they were growing up, they found some samples. But they didn't realize the extent of it until they went through some boxes after he died Saturday and found scads of poetry he had written.
The family will read some of his writings at Mr. Von Lehmen's funeral.
Mr. Von Lehmen was a deeply religious and gentle man, said his daughter, Ann Von Lehmen of Little Silver, N.J.
He was active with the St. Henry Church in Elsmere and it was his faith that influenced his son, who became a priest at St. Agnes in Fort Wright.
"(Religion) was part of his life fabric," Ms. Von Lehmen said.
Mr. Von Lehmen was an athletic man who liked hiking with his family. "He loved his family and the great outdoors," Ms. Von Lehmen said.
Born in Fort Mitchell, Mr. Von Lehmen joined the Navy and served in World War II. He worked as an accountant until he retired about five years ago. He was a past president of the Kentucky Association of Accountants.
Other survivors include his wife, Rosemary Von Lehmen; sons, Gregory Von Lehmen of Okinawa, Japan, and Rev. Jeffrey Von Lehmen of Fort Wright; daughters, Therese Heskamp of Wadsworth, Ohio, Martha Von Lehmen-Maher of Essex, N.J., and Donna Von Lehmen of Chicago; a brother, Joseph Von Lehmen of South Carolina; sisters, Helen Crotty of Crestview Hills and Kathryn Volpenhein of Cincinnati; and seven grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Burlington. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer's Disease Association, 644 Linn St., Cincinnati, Ohio 45203. Linnemann Funeral Home, Burlington, is handling arrangements.
Frank W. Chase, 85, of Lexington, formerly of Bellevue, died Monday at his home. He was a railroad clerk with Railway Express and a member of First Baptist Church of Bellevue. His wife, Virginia Chase, and a son, David Chase, both preceded him in death.
Survivors include sons, Jerald Chase of Frankfort and John Chase of Cincinnati; a daughter, Nan Wash of Lexington; sisters, Winnie Meyers of Texas, Doris Sand of Arizona and Elma Trunnell of Fort Thomas; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Bellevue. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill. Mary Ann Dobrozsi Forde, 71, of Highland Heights, died at 2:52 p.m. Sunday at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati. She was a registered nurse with Good Samaritan Hospital, Cincinnati.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas Forde; a son, Thomas Forde Jr. of Cincinnati; and a stepbrother, David Majcher of Cabool, Mo.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Cold Spring. Prayers will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas. Ray B. Jackson, 71, of Norwood, Ohio, died at 2:30 a.m. today at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati.

Leo Lacey, 92, of Fort Thomas, died Saturday at St. Luke Hospital East in Fort Thomas. He was a general manager with Phifister Fire Extinguisher Co., Cincinnati, and a past master of Henry Barnes Masonic Lodge No. 607 F&AM. He was a member of the Scottish Rite KCCH of Covington, a past patron of Dora Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the Junior Order of Mechanics in Bellevue and a member of the Dayton High School Board of Education. His wife, Sarah Elizabeth Lacey, preceded him in death.
Survivors include sons, Ronald Lacey of Mason, Ohio, and William Lacey of Fort Thomas; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Bellevue. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Eastern Star and Masonic services beginning at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate. Lawrence H. Lucas, 89, of Covington, died at 4 p.m. Sunday at Garrard Convalescent Home in Covington. He was owner of Lucas Tree Service, where he worked for 80 years, and was an Army veteran. His wife, June Spencer Lucas, died in 1981.
Survivors include a son, Hubert Sye Lucas of Covington; a brother, John Lucas of Crescent Springs; a sister, Dorothy Penick of Dayton; three granddaughters and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Highland Mausoleum, Fort Mitchell.
Jewel Martin Miller, 80, of Independence, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Stanley Miller; a daughter, Sandra Gadd of Independence; a brother, Lloyd Martin of Florida; sisters, Lena Crouch of Winchester, Faye Razor of Dayton, Ohio, Pearl McGlothin of Louisville and Phyllis Haggard of Morning View; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Dr. Carlos "C. E." Parsley, 88, of Covington, died at 1:25 p.m. Saturd ay at Highlands of Fort Thomas Nursing Home. He was a retired chiropractor in Latonia and a member of Latonia Lodge No. 746 F&AM, Indra Consistory Scottish Rite and Latonia Baptist Church. He was a member of Ludlow Seniors, and helped found the Ashland Avenue Baptist Church and served as its first Sunday school director. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred "Mickey" Atkins Parsley; daughters, Nancy Lee Armstrong Merse of Crestview Hills and Linda Carlene Parsley Proudfit of Cincinnati; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Geneva Margaret Clayton Poe, 78, of Foster, died Saturday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. She was a homemaker and a member of Foster Methodist Church. Her husband, James Emmitt Poe, died in 1991.
Survivors include sons, James Halford Poe and Donald Poe, both of Foster, Delmar E. Poe of Cincinnati, Shelby G. Poe of California and Mike Poe of Newport; daughters, Jenny Fox, Lodema Golfman and Vanessa Carr, all of Falmouth, Mae Sorrell of Foster and Lynda Roever of Hillsboro, Ohio; a brother, Luther Clayton of Indiana; and 29 grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Moore and Parker Funeral Home, Augusta. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Johnsville Cemetery. Gary Thomas Sorrell Memorial Fund.
John Sauter, 93, of Cincinnati, formerly of Newport, died Friday at Ridge Pavilion Nursing Home, Cincinnati. He was a truck driver.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Alma Sauter of Covington.

Ruby Purcell Hughes Stewart, 86, of Robertson County, died Sunday at Johnson Mathers Health Care Center, Robertson County. She was a homemaker and a member of Blue Licks Assembly of God Church. She was a Sunday school teacher and treasurer with the church. Her husbands, James "Buddy" Hughes and Elmo H. Stewart, both preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Kenneth C. Hughes of Robertson County; daughters, Betty F. Florer of Lexington, Helen Mae Evans and Janette H. Ritchie, both of Carlisle; stepsons, Ronnie Stewart of Robertson County and Jerry David Stewart of Brooksville; stepdaughters, Peggy Rose and Mary Evelyn Wheaton, both of Robertson County; a sister, Wanda Sibert of Nicholas County; 10 grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, seven step- great-grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Alan Turner, 62, of Kenton County, died Sunday at St. Luke Hospital West in Florence.

Edith S. Wood, 88, of Warsaw, died Sunday at Gallatin County Health Care Center in Warsaw. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church, Warsaw. She was a founding member of Fidelis Class at the church, and was a charter member of the Gallatin County Historical Society.
She was a secretary with the Gallatin County Democratic Executive Committee for more than 25 years, and was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the Warsaw Woman's Club and Polly Hawkins Craig Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Her husband, Sen. Gilbert Wood, died in 1966.
Survivors include a son, Earl Richard Wood of Warsaw; and a brother, Albert Stark of St. Mathews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, Warsaw. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 tonight at the church. Burial will be in Pleasureville Cemetery, Henry County.
