Gerald 'Tiny' Rogers, loved garden, family
Gerald C. "Tiny" Rogers of Crescent Springs loved to watch his garden grow.
"It was always such a big deal to him to get that garden in," said a daughter, Janice Strachan of Silver Spring, Md. "He usually planted more beans and corn than we needed. There was always a surplus to give away. He just did a really good job with the garden."
Mr. Rogers, 66, died at 8:25 a.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. After he retired as a plumber with Paul Arlinghaus Plumbing Co. in Erlanger, he started his own business E-Z Sharp, where he sharpened saw blades and scissors from his garage.
Mr. Rogers was a member of Crescent Springs Volunteer Fire Department and the Crescent Springs Board of Adjustments.
Mr. Rogers enjoyed playing cards and golf. He was a prankster, who loved spending time with his grandchildren.
"He was a good father and husband," his daughter said.
Other survivors include his wife, Martha Schoborg Rogers; daughters, Judi Rogers Paul of Union, Lisa Mobarry of Moores Hill, Ind., Laura Rogers of DeGraff, Ohio, Susan M. Cathers of Erlanger and Sandi Bowling of Corpus Christi, Texas; a brother, Monte Rogers of Dayton; and nine grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Church, Crescent Springs. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger. Burial will be in St. Cecilia Cemetery, Independence.
Memorials are suggested to Children's Heart Association, Children's Hospital, 3333 Burnet Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio 45229; American Cancer Society, 6612 Dixie Highway, Suite 2, Florence, Ky. 41042; or the charity of the donor's choice.
Chester Ballinger, 78, of Sun City, Ariz., formerly of Independence, died Tuesday in Sun City.
Arrangements are pending at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Independence.
Marcella J. Brosemer, 83, of Melbourne, Fla., died Saturday at Winter Park Hospital in Melbourne. She was a homemaker and a member of Ascension Church, Melbourne.
Survivors include a son, John W. Brosemer Jr. of Orlando; a sister, Bertha Schierberg Goetz of Florence; and three granddaughter.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Ascension Church. Visitation will begin there at 10:30 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Brevard Memorial Park, Melbourne. Family Funeral Care, Oviedo, Fla., is handling arrangements.
Mary Ann Dobrozsi Forde, 71, of Highland Heights, died at 2:52 p.m. Sunday at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati. She was a registered nurse with Good Samaritan Hospital, Cincinnati.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas Forde; a son, Thomas Forde Jr. of Cincinnati; and a stepbrother, David Majcher of Cabool, Mo.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. tonight at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Prayers will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas. Hattie Heaton, 96, of Covington, died Tuesday at River Valley Nursing Home, Butler.

Ray B. Jackson, 71, of Norwood, Ohio, died at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday at Good Samaritan Hospital, Cincinnati. He was a retired insurance agent with Golf Insurance Co., Cincinnati, and a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Latonia.
Survivors include his wife, Libby Reuther Jackson; a son, David R. Jackson of Fort Worth, Texas; and a brother, James Jackson of Cincinnati.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery, Cincinnati.
Marie H. Kroger, 90, of Fort Thomas, died Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital East in Fort Thomas. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring. She was a member of the St. Mary's Ladies Society and St. Cecilia Auxiliary, and was a volunteer with Licking Valley Girl Scouts. Her husband, Ralph L. Kroger, died in 1993. A son, Ralph W. Kroger, died in 1994.
Survivors include daughters, Eileen M. Allen and Betty Cottingham, both of Alexandria, Carolyn S. Crowder of Conyers, Ga., and Patricia Scheidel of High Point, N.C.; sons, Albert Kroger of Alexandria and Vincent Kroger of Cold Spring; a sister, Romilda Schaiper of Greenhills, Ohio; 26 grandchildren; and 61 great-grandchildren.

Ethel Kanatzar Moores, 97, of Richmond, died Tuesday at Richmond Health & Rehabilitation Complex in Richmond. She was a homemaker and a member of Antioch Christian Church, Richmond. Her husband, James W. Moores, died in 1972.
Survivors include daughters, Henrietta Risk of Union City and Marjorie Turner of Erlanger; sisters, Minnie Perkins and Edith Stocker, both of Richmond, Maranda Stocker of Nicholasville and Carrie Clem of Winchester; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Joseph Herold Northcutt, 90, of Highland Heights, died Tuesday at Lakeside Place Nursing Home in Highland Heights.

Johnny Allen Perkins, 68, of Foster, died Tuesday at his home. He was a farmer and a member of Willow Baptist Church, Bracken County. He was an Army veteran. A daughter, Belinda Perkins, died in 1957.
Survivors include his wife, Neva Sue Thomas Perkins; and his mother and step-father, Mr. and Mrs. Leaming Thomas.

Mary Margaret Cummins Rooney, 62, of Newport, died at 9:35 p.m. Monday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Raymond Rooney; a brother, Richard Cummins of Newport; a sister, Loretta Ruf of Tampa, Fla.; eight children; and several grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Dayton. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.
Allen Eugene Turner, 62, of Morning View, died Sunday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. He was a union painter and a member of Burlington Pentecostal Church, Burlington.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Jean LaCally Turner; sons, Roger Turner and Rodney Turner, both of Morning View; and four grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Independence Cemetery. Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence, is handling arrangements.
