Bell executive Albert Bonnick, served United Way, Red Cross
Albert T. Bonnick, of Fort Thomas, a vice president with Cincinnati Bell who devoted much of his free time to helping others, died at 4:30 p.m. Monday at the Highlands of Fort Thomas Nursing Home. He was 82.
Mr. Bonnick headed the Northern Kentucky United Way, was on the board of the Cincinnati chapter of the American Red Cross and was active in the Boy Scouts, which his son was involved in.
"He spent his time doing things that were good for the community," said his wife, Estelle Bonnick. "He was just a very wonderful person."
Mr. Bonnick, a native of Southgate, met his wife while the two were in high school. After marrying, the two moved to Fort Thomas, where they would spend the rest of their lives.
Mr. Bonnick worked at the telephone company in the 1940s before joining the Army and going to Europe to fight in World War II. He enlisted as a private and was promoted to lieutenant colonel while there, his wife said.
When he returned from the war, Mr. Bonnick went back to Cincinnati Bell, where he retired as a vice president of finance.
"He was an honest person and very hardworking; very ambitious," Mrs. Bonnick said.
Mr. Bonnick was a past president of Financial Executives Institute of Cincinnati and Delta Mu Delta, and a member of the Cincinnati Club, the Queen City Club and Coldstream Country Club. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Fort Thomas.
Other survivors include his daughters, Marilyn Carmichael and Susan Delaney, both of Fort Thomas; a son, Albert T. Bonnick Jr. of Cincinnati; a sister, May Schott of Cincinnati; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at the convenience of the family. Entombment will be in Evergreen Mausoleum, Southgate. Lena B. Bagby, 83, of Vevay, Ind., formerly of Warsaw, died Wednesday at Swiss Villa Living Center, Vevay. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, John Bagby; a sister, Lillian Weimer of Cincinnati; and brothers, Elza Duncan of Harrison, Ohio, and Lohery Duncan of Cincinnati.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Warsaw Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Swiss Villa Living Center, Vevay, Ind. 47043. Carlton-Lowder Funeral Home, Warsaw, is handling arrangements.
Chester Ballinger, 78, of Sun City, Ariz., formerly of Independence, died at 1:10 p.m. Tuesday at Boswell Hospital, Sun City. He was a retired farmer and a member of Bradford Lodge No. 123 F&AM and Staffordsburg United Methodist Church in Independence. He was a former director of the Farm Bureau. His wife, Gloria Hill Ballinger, died in 1997.
Survivors include a friend, Martha Carroll of Fort Thomas.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Independence. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Masonic services at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery. Arless "Junior" Brown, 69, of Cincinnati, died at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday at Terrace View Gardens, Cincinnati. He was a former furniture deliveryman.
There are no immediate survivors.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Pythian Grove Cemetery, Berry. Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger, is handling arrangements.
William A. Croswait, 79, of Cincinnati, formerly of Covington, died at 8:14 a.m. Wednesday at Deaconess Hospital, Cincinnati. He was a retired iron worker and a member of Iron Workers Union Local No. 44. His wife, Genevieve Blanche Croswait, died in 1988.
Survivors include sons, Ronald Croswait of Florence and Joseph Croswait of Memphis; a brother, Paul Croswait of the state of Washington; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Spirit Church, Newport. Visitation will be from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Newport, followed by prayers. Entombment will be in St. Stephen Mausoleum, Fort Thomas. Rev. Paul James Godsey, 71, of Burlington, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He retired in 1991 after 25 years as pastor of Burlington Baptist Church, and then worked for the Kentucky Baptist Children's Home.
Survivors include his wife, Christine Booth Godsey; daughters, Janet Kelly of Columbus, Ohio, Lynda McNeely of Burlington and Paula Godsey of Fitchburg, Mass.; sisters, Gladys Jackson of Burnside and Lois Holland of Spring Hill, Fla.; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Burlington Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be in Burlington Cemetery.

Anna Elizabeth Hasson, 84, of Fort Thomas, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a retired officer with Kentucky Enterprise Federal, and a member of St. Thomas Church, Fort Thomas.
Survivors include sisters, Dorothy Hasson of Chicago and Margaret Hasson of Fort Thomas.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Thomas Church. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas.
Hattie Lou Heaton, 96, of Covington, died at 1:35 p.m. Tuesday at River Valley Nursing Home, Butler. She was a homemaker and a member of Covington Daylight Chapter No. 375 Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Covington.
Her husband, Spencer Heaton, died in 1957.
Survivors include sons, Murrell Heaton of Covington and Spencer Heaton Jr. of Wilmington, N.C.; a daughter, Mabel Patterson of Langley, Wash.; a brother, Sam Brown Jr. of Louisville; sisters, Zelma Carrigan of Bowling Green and Beulah Lewis of Chicago; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Bruce W. Lewis, 76, of Fort Thomas, died Tuesday at Veterans Administration Medical Center, Cincinnati. He was a self-employed writer, a member of the National Writers' Guild Association and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include a daughter, Kelly Rose of Fort Thomas; and two granddaughters.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Arlington Memorial Gardens, Cincinnati. A wake service will be at 7 p.m. Friday in the St. Catherine of Siena Church undercroft, Fort Thomas. Barbara Elinor Duer Lockwood, 78, of Fort Mitchell, died at 7:45 a.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. She was an employee and volunteer with Welcome House, Covington, and a volunteer with Diocesan Children's Home in Fort Mitchell and Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption, Covington.
She was a member of St. Mary's Ladies Society and Daughters of the American Revolution. Her husband, John Piatt Lockwood, died in 1982. A daughter, Donna Marie Lockwood, died in 1994.
Survivors include a son, John Schuyler Lockwood of Brandon, S.D.; daughters, Ann Elizabeth Reckers of Erlanger, Martha Eugina Miller of Columbus, Ohio, Barbara Susan Lockwood of Fairfield, Ohio, Mary Christina Dugan of Orlando, Fla., Mary Victoria Waehner of Tempe, Ariz., and Jennifer Joy Cameron of Center Valley, Pa.; and 19 grandchildren.

Herbert W. McLaughlin, 66, of Silver Grove, died Thursday at his residence.

J. Herold Northcutt, 90, of Highland Heights, died at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Lakeside Place Nursing Home, Highland Heights. He was a retired office manager with Little Electric Co., Cincinnati. His wife, Millicent Koch Northcutt, died in 1987.
Survivors include daughters, Millicent Arlinghaus of Fort Wright, Donna Hitter of Fort Mitchell and Jennifer Stratman of Villa Hills; sons, Joseph Northcutt of Las Vegas and Michael Northcutt of Villa Hills; a sister, Agnes Basting of Covington; a brother, Stanley Northcutt of Cincinnati; 15 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

Herbert Riley, 77, of Newport, died Wednesday at his home. He was a retired press break operator with Kent Corp., Bellevue, a member of New Macedonia Baptist Church in Newport, and an Army veteran of World War II. His wife, Dottie Deaton Riley, died in 1999. Sons, Roy V. Riley and Ronald Lee Riley, both preceded him in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Wilma Jean Baird of Newport; a son, Raymond Riley of Williamstown; a brother, Billy Riley of Cincinnati; a sister, Katherine Herald of Highland Heights; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Radel Funeral Home, Newport. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.
Edna Marie Setters, 76, of Bullhead City, Ariz., formerly of Taylor Mill, died Feb. 16 in Kingman, Ariz. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Harvey Setters; sons, Marvin Setters of Springfield, Ore., and Steve Setters of Walton; a daughter, Carol Isaacs of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a sister, Florence Antrobus of Alexandria; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were Saturday at Desert Lawn Memorial Gardens, Mohave Valley, Ariz. Desert Lawn Funeral Home, Mohave Valley, handled arrangements.
Peter Ventura, 73, of Erlanger, died Feb. 10 at Hospice of Cincinnati. He was a life insurance agent with Western-Southern Insurance Co., and a former member of Norwood City Council. He was also a mutual clerk with Turfway Park, Churchill Downs and Keeneland horse tracks. He was a World War II veteran. Daughters, Mary Constance Ventura and Joan Frietch, both preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Evans Ventura; daughters, Mary Katherine Ventura of Norwood, Ohio, Mary Anne Steger of West Chester, Ohio, Mary Elizabeth Ventura, Mary Frances Zerhusen and Mary Jo Schlie, all of Cincinnati, Mary Kristina Fiore of Seattle and Mary Lee Steffens of Tampa, Fla.; sons, Peter Ventura, Mark Ventura and Matthew Ventura, all of Norwood, Paul Ventura of Cincinnati and John Ventura of Atlanta; stepsons, Daryl Hammons, Marc Hammons and Joey Hammons, all of Northern Kentucky; a sister, Rose Horsley of Norwood; a brother, George Ventura of Cincinnati; 50 grandchildren and one great-grandchildren.
