Henry B. Seibert, helped plan rebuilding of Newport riverfront
Henry B. Seibert was the man family and friends turned to when they needed help.
"Anybody who had a problem, they brought it to my dad," said his daughter, Patricia Seitz of Alexandria. "He was there whenever you needed him. He helped his kids, grandkids and his brothers and sisters and nieces and nephews. Anybody who needed help, he was there."
Mr. Seibert, 78, of Alexandria, died at 11:52 a.m. Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a retired office manager with Amalgamated Clothing Workers and a past president of the Cincinnati AFL-CIO Joint Board.
Mr. Seibert was a member of the planning committee for the revitalization of the Newport riverfront and served on the planning board for St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
Mr. Seibert was also a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alexandria and a former member of Corpus Christi in Newport.
"He was a very religious man," his daughter said. "If he'd go on vacation, he had to go to church. Once, he traveled 50 miles to go to church."
Mr. Seibert also was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, American Legion Post No. 219. He was active in the Boy Scouts in the 1950s and '60s.
He was a political activist who loved his job. But he always put his family first, his daughter said. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. He and his wife were married
for nearly 57 years.
"He never let his wife go to bed without kissing her good night and saying 'I love you,' " Mrs. Seitz said. "He was a special man."
Other survivors include his wife, Norma Eilerman Seibert; sons, Michael Seibert of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Ronald Seibert of Fort Thomas and Russell Seibert of Florence; brothers, Gene Seibert of Newport, Richard Seibert of Alexandria, Joseph Seibert of Fort Thomas and Donald Seibert of Falmouth; a sister, Gertrude Smith of Independence; 16 grandchildren; and three great-grandsons.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary Church, Alexandria. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Newport. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas. Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Newport, is handling arrangements.
Robert Lee Agee, 79, of Florence, died Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. He was a mechanical general superintendent with CSX Railroad. A son, Ross "Rocky" C. Agee, died in 1985.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Adeline Agee; a son, John Agee of Florence; a daughter, Sherry Ann House of Florence; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Burlington. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to charity.
Gladys C. Carnes Alford, 75, of Alexandria, died at 2:40 a.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington. She was a retired volunteers coordinator with the Veterans Administration Nursing Home in Fort Thomas and a member of First Baptist Church of Alexandria and Alexandria Order of the Eastern Star No. 337.
Survivors include her husband, Harry D. Alford; and a brother, Howard Carnes of Thomasville, Ga.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Alexandria Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Alexandria Cemetery.
Archie "Bud" Ashcraft, 89, of Falmouth, died Monday at River Valley Nursing Home, Butler. He was a retired welder and ironworker in Cincinnati. He was a mechanic, an electrician and a construction worker. He was a member of Demoss Lodge No. 220 F&AM in Butler, the Orion Lodge No. 222 F&AM in Falmouth, York Rite Bodies and Scottish Rite Masons, Indra Consistory in Covington.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth. Madalyn B. Byrd, 82, of Florence, died Tuesday at her home. She was a retired real estate broker in West Palm Beach, Fla., and a member of Florence Baptist Church.
Survivors include a sister, Natalie McAtee of Bainbridge Island, Wash.; and a nephew.

Evelyn Noell Enda, 85, of Fort Wright, died Monday at St. Charles Care Center in Fort Wright.

John L. Gentry, 69, of Florence, died at 11 a.m. Sunday at St. Luke Hospital West in Florence. He was a maintenance worker with Lloyd Memorial High School, Erlanger, and a retired plumber with Archer Plumbing Co., Cincinnati. He was a former employee of Bardos Corp. in Cincinnati. His wife, Nannie Jane Gentry, died in 1996. A son, William J. Gentry, died in 1999.
Survivors include a son, Thomas Edward Gentry of Newport; daughters, Bonnie Cole of California and Nancy Joyce Moore of West Harrison, Ind.; a brother, Walter Gentry of Independence; a sister, Norma Dean Poland of Homestead, Fla.; an aunt, Mayme Hensley of Florence, with whom he lived; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Helen C. Hutchinson, 72, of Covington, died at 11:41 p.m. Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North in Covington. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Rube Hutchinson, died in 1999.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Tallon of Latonia; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Aden Alva Joyner, 87, of Ludlow, died Monday at Crestview Park Nursing Home, Cincinnati. He was a retired finisher with Baldwin Piano Co., and a former salesman with Dr Pepper Co. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Ludlow, an antiques hobbyist and a guitarist. He and his wife, Flora Mae, had their own radio show on radio station WHIR in Danville during the 1950s, three nights a week.
Survivors include his wife, Flora Mae Wade Joyner; a son, Jan David Joyner of Ludlow; a daughter, Belinda Kay Polsey of Dayton, Ohio; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Harry McClurg Jr., 70, of Erlanger, died Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a photo engraver with the Cincinnati Enquirer and an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Dixie McClurg; sons, Michael McClurg of Lexington and Taylor McClurg of Erlanger; a daughter, Shannon McClurg of Erlanger; a brother, Bill McClurg of Park Hills; and five grandchildren.

Madeline D. Sandmann, 78, of Taylor Mill, died at 3:50 p.m. Monday at Mercy Anderson Hospital, Cincinnati. She was a security agent with Cincinnati Schools and a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church in Lakeside Park. She was a past president of the Forest Hills PTA and the Forest Hills Homemakers.
Survivors include her husband, Roy F. Sandmann; daughters, Patti Sandmann Gotelli of San Francisco and Bonnie Biery Frost of Clearwater, Fla.; a sister, Naomi Krebs of Newport; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

George J. Schrand, 90, of Fort Wright, died Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. He was a purchasing agent with Liebel Flarsheim medical equipment company, and a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, Fort Mitchell.
He was a former city council member and vice mayor for South Fort Mitchell and a volunteer firefighter with the Ludlow and South Fort Mitchell departments.
He was a member of Summit Hills Country Club in Crestview Hills, an avid golfer and bowler, and a member of the Lions, Elks and the Northern Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame. His wife, Clara Schrand, died in 1984. A son, George Schrand, died in 1987.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Roeding of Lakeside Park; a son, Dr. James R. Schrand of Florence; a sister, Mary Evelyn Hebbeler of Fort Wright; a brother, Courtney T. Schrand of Fort Mitchell; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Blessed Sacrament Church. Entombment will be in St. Mary Mausoleum, Fort Mitchell. The family will receive friends in the church undercroft after entombment. Jesse H. Temple Jr., 90, of Latonia, died at 3 a.m. Tuesday at his home. He was a retired machine adjuster with Duro Bag Co., Cincinnati, and a member of Latonia Baptist Church and Golden Rule Masonic Lodge No. 345, Covington. His wife, Edna Mae Temple, died in 1993.
Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Ann Flanigan of Latonia; seven grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great- great-grandchildren.
