Ann M. Helton, neighbor kids called her 'Grandma'
Anna M. Helton of Covington made a lot of friends in the 35 years she was a line worker for the former Wilson Poultry House in Covington.
"I know she loved the people she worked with," said a granddaughter, Sherry Lindberg of Covington.
"She had just worked there so long she knew everybody, and everybody liked her."
Mrs. Helton, 83, died Thursday at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati.
Mrs. Helton was born and reared in the Shelbyville area. After she married, she lived in Cincinnati and then settled in Covington.
Mrs. Helton retired from the poultry plant in 1978.
But "She liked to stay busy," said Mrs. Lindberg. "That was real important to her. After she retired, she was always doing something, like helping her daughters.
"She took care of me when I was young. She always took me to school and came and brought me home," Ms. Lindberg said.
"I know all the kids in the neighborhood called her 'Grandma,' " she said.
Mrs. Helton and her husband, Roland Gilbert Helton, had been married
nearly 50 years when he died in 1995.
Other survivors include a son, Johnny Deckard of Independence; daughters, Millie Carr of Covington, Rose Ison of Independence and Mary Jo McKenzie of Fort Thomas; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be at noon Monday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home in Covington, with visitation from 10 a.m.
Burial will be in Floral Hills cemetery in Taylor Mill.
Dorothy F. Boesiger Closterman, 84, of Fort Thomas, died Friday at her residence. She was a homemaker.
Her husband, John H. Closterman, died in 1970. Survivors include daughters, Myrna R. Back of Indianapolis and Donna K. Closterman of Cincinnati; a sister, Wilma M. Boesiger of Fort Thomas; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas, with visitation 4 to 7 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.
Estill B. Davidson, 67, of Covington, died Wednesday at his residence. He was a retired forklift operator for Pepsi.
Survivors include sons, Larry Davidson of Cincinnati, Oliver Davidson of Johnsville and Estill Davidson Jr. of Bellevue; daughters, Patti Davidson of Dayton, Seattie Williams of Edgewood, Sherrylynn Davidson of Newport and Diana Geyer of Park Hills; brothers, Oliver Davidson and Buddy Davidson Jr. of Bromley; sisters, Emma Barnes of Florence, Delphia Talbert of Ludlow, Sylvia Rextroad of Salem, Ind., Romain Plummer of Nashville, Tenn., Mary Couch of Taylor Mill; 14 grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Catchen and Son Funeral Home, Elsmere-Erlanger, with visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.
Loretta Frances Arlinghaus Feldman, 83, of Latonia, died at 4:40 p.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center
North in Covington. She was a homemaker and a member of Holy Cross Church, Latonia, where she helped set up the church for funerals and did other volunteer work for the church and school. Her husband, Earl E. Feldman, died in 1995.
Survivors include daughters, JoAnn Mueller, Carol Sue Willing and Kay Urlage of Latonia, Patricia Meyer of Louisville and Jane Neff of Fort Wright; sons, Edward Feldman of Williamstown and James Feldman, John Feldman and Robert "Bait" Feldman of Latonia; brothers, Norman Arlinghaus of Edgewood, Art Arlinghaus, Carl Arlinghaus and Albert Arlinghaus of Fort Mitchell, John Arlinghaus of Fort Thomas, Tom Arlinghaus of Belleview and Lou Arlinghaus of Covington; a sister, Mae Schroder of Fort Mitchell; 33 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Cross Church, Latonia; visitation from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia; and prayers at 9:20 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright. Memorials are suggested to Feldman Memorial Scholarship Fund, 37 E. 42nd St., Latonia, Ky. 41015.
Irene Flynn, 95, of Pendleton County, died Thursday at Robertson County Health Care Center in Mount Olivet.
She was a homemaker and a member of Neave United Methodist Church, Bracken County.
Her husband, Hobart McKinley Flynn, died in 1972. Sons, Charles M. Flynn and Paul Benny Flynn, and daughters, Gloria Unice Flynn, Helen Delores Light and Yuelta Fern Smith, all preceded her in death.
Survivors include daughters, Rainie Smith and Joyce Jones, both of Falmouth, and Janetta Askey of Ashland, Ohio; sons, David Flynn of Villas, N.J., and Danny Flynn of Falmouth; 29 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth, with visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. today. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Pendleton County. Gloria Lee Hughes, 59, of Erlanger, died at 11:10 p.m. Thursday at Florence Park Care Center. She worked in data processing for the Internal Revenue Service, Cincinnati, and formerly worked for Western-Southern Life Insurance Co., Cincinnati. She was a member of Vineyard Christian Church, Florence.
Survivors include a son, Michael Todd Hughes of Elsmere; and her father, Garner Newton Hawkins of Fort Thomas.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Forest Lawn cemetery Chapel, Erlanger, with visitation after 1 p.m. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill, is handling arrangements.

Marcella R. McDonald, 84, of Delhi Township, Ohio, formerly of Fort Wright, died at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at Bayley Place Nursing Home, Delhi Township. There are no immediate survivors.

Sarah Evelyn Pollitt, 55, of Covington, died at 1:50 p.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North in Covington. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her mother, Beatrice Hughes Pollitt of Newport; sisters, Helen Snider of Cincinnati, Dolores Jean Nash of Newport and Ida Mae McDaniel of Amelia, Ohio; and a brother, Tom Pollitt of Milford, Ohio.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Newport, with visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Pollitt Family Cemetery, Burtonville.
Robert Schneider, 85, of Erlanger, died Friday at his residence.

Forest Smoot, 93, of Owenton, died Thursday at Bradford Square Nursing Home in Frankfort. He was a farmer and member of Greenup Fort Baptist Church, Owen County.
His wife, Edith Dunavent Smoot, preceded him in death. Survivors include a son, Curtis Smoot of Frankfort; a daughter, Donna Heightchew of Frankfort; brothers, Ruben Smoot and Vernon Smoot of Owenton; sisters, Eula Stephenson of Verona, Eloise Wright of Frankfort and Opal Hawkins and Lucy Hall of Owenton; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Henry L. "Hank" Teegarden, 65, of Falmouth, died Wednesday at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Lexington. He was a self-employed construction laborer.
Survivors include sisters, Christine Biddle of Falmouth, Loucille McElfresh of Foster and Joyce Murray of Brooksville; and brothers, James Teegarden of Louisville and Billy Ray Teegarden of Flemingsburg.
Services will be at the convenience of the family. Cremation will be at Cincinnati Cremation Co. Moore and Parker Funeral Home, Brooksville, is handling arrangements.
Mabel Mae Gallagher Tucker, 78, of Brooksville, died at 6:05 a.m. Friday at her residence. She was a homemaker and a member of Germantown Christian Church.

Charles Watters, 68, of Covington, died Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North in Covington. He was a baker.
Survivors include a sister, Ruth Stevens of Milford, Ohio.
Graveside services will be at noon Monday at Veterans Cemetery, Dayton, Ohio.
