Lawrence J. Boh, took up woodworking after retiring
After retiring as a sheet-metal worker, Lawrence J. Boh turned his talents to wood.
He took up the hobby of woodworking, creating tables and chairs, which eventually led him to weaving baskets and other items.
Mr. Boh, 79, of Hebron, died at 12:55 p.m. Thursday at St. Luke Hospital West in Florence.
"He wanted something to do," said his wife, Muriel Nichols Boh. "So he made some tables and chairs.
"Then my sister taught him to weave the backs of the chairs. He caught on to it, and he started weaving baskets. He gave a lot of them away."
Mr. Boh worked for Buckley Manufacturing Co., Cincinnati, and was an Army veteran of World War II.
During his working life, he enjoyed hunting, Mrs. Boh said.
He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Burlington.
Other survivors include a son, John Daniel Boh of Hebron; a sister, Dorothy Piper of Burlington; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Burlington. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Hebron. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.
George R. "Bob" Brown, 68, of Farmersville, La., formerly of Covington, died Dec. 2 in Farmersville.
He was a retired engineer.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Brown; daughters, Linda Carmack of Alexandria and Debra Thomas of Portland, Ore.; a stepson, William Gortemiller of Cincinnati; a brother, Jack A. Brown of Covington; and two grandchildren.
Services were Dec. 5 in Farmersville. Burial was in Farmersville. Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia, handled local arrangements.
Junior Farmer, 38, of Hebron, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood.
Survivors include his wife, Angie Farmer; daughters, Lacy Farmer and Lisa Farmer of Hebron; a son, Nikki Pearson of Hebron; his mother, Edith Cint of Covington; a brother, George Cint of Alexandria; and sisters, Glenda Farmer of Newport and JoAnn Walker of Covington.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Bellevue, with visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.
Margie Irene Hopperton Hankinson, 77, of Walton, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood. She was a homemaker and a member of Beaverlick Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Marshall Hankinson; sons, Donald Hankinson of Independence, Glenn Hankinson of Dry Ridge and Terry Hankinson of Walton; sisters, Christine Rich of Walton and Doris Baker of Florence; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at noon Monday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Florence, with visitation from 10 a.m. Burial will be in Belleview Bottoms Cemetery.
Renee Leap, 29, of Grants Lick, died Thursday at her residence. She was an assembler for New Perceptions, Edgewood.
Survivors include her parents, Merrill and Bonnie Leap of Grants Lick.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick, with visitation from 11 a.m. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Grants Lick. Memorials are suggested to New Perceptions, 1 Sperti Drive, Edgewood, Ky. 41017.
Fred Marvin Losey, 86, of Cocoa Beach, Fla., formerly of Cold Spring, died at 4:50 p.m. Wednesday at Baptist Convalescent Center, Newport.
He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service, Cincinnati, and an Army veteran of World War II.
A son, Jeff Losey, preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Wilma Aino Losey; a son, Fred Evans Losey of California; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Alexandria Funeral Home, with visitation from 6 p.m. Cremation will be at Hillside Chapel, Cincinnati. Memorials are suggested to American Red Cross, 59 Carothers Road, Newport, Ky. 41071.
Sean Eileen Ruark Mays, 34, of Dayton, Ohio, formerly of Erlanger, died Thursday at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati.
She was a former public-affairs specialist for the Air Force and a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Covington.
Survivors include her husband, Richard Mays; sons, Marcus Connor Mays and Ian Demetrius Mays of Dayton, Ohio; her father, Howard William Ruark Jr. of Burlington; her mother, Kathleen Marie Frazier of Louisville; a brother, Howard William Ruark III of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a sister, Casie Ruark of Deer Park, Ohio; and grandparents, Howard and Dorothy Ruark of Crittenden and George and Ethel Frazier of Erlanger.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence, with visitation from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger. Memorials are suggested to the charity of donor's choice.
Christine Mae Morgan, 97, of Latonia, died at 9:05 p.m. Wednesday at Crestview Nursing Home in Cincinnati. She was a retired self-employed in-home care nurse and a former volunteer with St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.
Survivors include sons, James Booth of Butler, Avery L. Morgan of Latonia, Elgen S. Morgan of Ludlow and Wilburn Morgan of Brownsville, Texas; daughters, Frances Dowell of Clearwater, Fla., Margaret Seiter of Highland Heights and Nancy C. Griffin of Latonia; 35 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Rex Pennington, 69, of Newport, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North in Covington. He was a retired crane operator for D. Kirschner & Sons, Newport.
Survivors include his wife, Edna Pennington; daughters, Joyce McDole of Alexandria and Sheila Schraer of Fort Thomas; sons, Larry Pennington of Newport, Arvil Pennington of Butler and Gene Pennington of Cold Spring; brothers, James Pennington of Nashville, Tenn., and David Pennington of Newport; sisters, Ruth Roberts, Mavey Roberts and Lorene Adams of Smilax; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Paul F. Taylor, 79, of Newport, died Thursday at St. Luke Hospital East in Fort Thomas. He was a cabinetmaker for Kent Corp., Bellevue. He was a member of Lawler-Hanlon VFW Post No. 5662, Newport.
Survivors include his wife, June F. Bellis Taylor; sons, Michael W. Taylor of Fort Thomas and Patrick H. Taylor of Newport; a sister, Mary Fenwick of Springfield, Ohio; a brother, Larry Taylor of Fort Thomas; and one grandson.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 9:45 a.m. Monday at St. Stephen Church, Newport. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate. Radel Funeral Home, Newport, is handling arrangements.
Porter A. Thomas, 93, of Erlanger, died at 1:10 a.m. Friday at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio.
Arrangements are pending at Catchen and Son Funeral Home, Elsmere-Erlanger.
Lucille Yates Unmussig, 92, of Augusta, died Friday at her sister's residence in Mount Sterling. She was a retired employee for Kentucky Utilities, Augusta, and a member of Augusta Baptist Church.
Her husband, Joseph Unmussig, preceded her in death. Survivors include a sister, Helen Richey of Mount Sterling.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Metcalfe-Hennessey Funeral Home, Augusta, with visitation from noon. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Augusta. Memorials are suggested to St. Claire Hospice, 222 Medical Center Driver, Morehead, Ky. 40351.
Willard L. Volter, 68, of Dayton, died Friday at St. Luke Hospital East in Fort Thomas. He was a retired mail clerk for the U.S. Postal Service and an Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Sally Woods Volter; sons, Jeff Volter of Dayton and Steve Volter of Bellevue; a daughter, Sue Watson of Dayton; a brother, Elmer Volter of Waikii, Hawaii; six grandchildren and one great- grandchild.
Private services will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.
