Robert Corbett, dedicated to family
Robert Corbett of Ludlow always put his family first.
"His family was very important to him," said a son, Robert J. Corbett of Villa Hills. "He just came from a really strong family with a lot of brothers and a sister. They were real close all their lives."
Mr. Corbett, 85, died at 12:06 a.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a retired warehouse manager with Armstrong Stationary Co. and a member of Sts. Boniface and James Church in Ludlow. He also was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
In addition, Mr. Corbett was a member of Northern Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame and the Ludlow High School Hall of Fame. He was an all-around athlete who played football, baseball and ran track.
Mr. Corbett loved spending time with his grandchildren, often attending their sporting events.
Mr. Corbett's wife, Madeline Corbett, died Aug. 22. Two sons, James Corbett and Joseph Corbett, died in 1963.
Other survivors include son Edward Corbett of Berea; a daughter, Rose Hall of Ludlow; brothers, William Corbett of Ludlow and Joseph Corbett of Fort Mitchell; a sister, Peggy Corbett of Ludlow; and five grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sts. Boniface and James Church. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, 401 E. 20th St., Covington, Ky. 41014.
Dorothy Mae "Dotty" Brue, 53, of Covington, died at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington. She was a housekeeper with St. Elizabeth Medical Center North in Covington for 33 years.
Survivors include brothers, James Brue and Rickey Brue, both of Covington; and sisters, Carol Jean Brue and Betty Whitaker, both of Covington.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Augustine Church, Covington. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright. Estelle Catherine Caruso, 67, of Southgate, died Monday at Hospice of Cincinnati. She was a waitress with El Greco Restaurant in Southgate, and a member of St. Therese Church in Southgate. Her husband, John Caruso, died in 1990.
Survivors include sons, Joe Caruso of Houston and John Caruso of Grants Lick; sisters, Mary Jo Conners of Crystal River, Fla., Evelyn Crawford of Highland Heights, Maxine Diciero of Bellevue, Vivian Megous of Cincinnati and Vi Newton of Edgewood; brothers, Bud Lehman of Taylor Mill and Ed Lehman of Covington; and five grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Bernard Church, Cincinnati. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.
Roger V. Crawford, 63, of Hebron, died at 2:30 a.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington. He was a machinist and a Marine Corps veteran.
Survivors include sons, Edwin T. Crawford of Florence and Roger V. Crawford Jr. of Fort Wright; a daughter, Kathy Hays of Hebron; a brother, Robert Crawford of Lawrenceburg; sisters, Edwina Crawford of Albuquerque, N.M., and Luella Harden of Murphy, N.C.; and nine grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Dayton National Cemetery, Dayton, Ohio. Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Hebron, is handling arrangements.
Donn Alan Curtis, 67, of Southgate, died Thursday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a retired employee of the Cincinnati Enquirer.
Survivors include a brother, Kent Curtis of Fort Thomas; nieces and nephews.

Ward B. Hadden, 89, of California, died Monday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a retired employee of Interlake Steel in Newport and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Margaret Hadden; sons, Charles Hadden of Sunman, Ind., Richard Hadden and Robert Hadden, both of California; a daughter, Joyce Fogle of California; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Radel Funeral Home, Highland Heights. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.
Gladys Haigis-Veal, 71, of Fort Thomas, died at 1:32 p.m. Friday at her home. She was a homemaker. A son, Vernon Haigis, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, James Veal; daughters, Carolyn Williams of Cincinnati and Marilyn Campbell of Newport; a stepdaughter, Diana Veal of Anaheim, Calif.; sons, Dennis Haigis, George Haigis and William Haigis, all of Newport, and Donald Haigis of West Chester, Ohio; stepsons, Rick Veal and Earl Veal, both of Auburn, Calif.; 25 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Wesley S. Hale Sr., 79, of Covington, died at 3:29 a.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a retired railroad car inspector in Cincinnati. His wife, Ina Bell Hale, died in 1998.
Survivors include sons, Wesley S. Hale Jr. of Covington and Sylvester Hale of London; daughters, Margaret M. Freeman of Taylor Mill, Alberta Morgan of London, Durlie Alsip of Cincinnati and Wilma Lynch of Russell Springs; brothers, Belve Hale and Warren Hale, both of London; a sister, Lida Clark of Cincinnati; 20 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Reese Hardy, 89, of Butler, died today at River Valley Nursing Home in Butler.

Helen Verda Bishop Hubbard, 55, of Morning View, died Sunday at her home. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Johnny Hubbard; daughters, Teri Morgan of Covington, Vicki Brumley of Crittenden, Kathy Villa of Florence, Karen Medina of Warsaw, Diane Pinales and Amy Hubbard, both of Florence; sisters, Shirley Agrue of Cincinnati and Hazel Estep of West Chester, Ohio; a brother, Tony Bishop of Bellevue; 17 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Eva Lee Klaber, 85, of Falmouth, died Monday at River Valley Nursing Home, Butler. She was a homemaker and a member of Falmouth Baptist Church. Her husband, Frank Klaber, died in 1992.
Survivors include a son, Daniel F. Klaber of Butler; a foster daughter, Kay Blades of Falmouth; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Peoples Funeral Home, Falmouth. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth.

Mikus Knoerl, 38, of Covington, died at 1:13 p.m. Saturday at his home. Mr. Knoerl competed in the Newport Junior Olympics as a 15 year old and still holds the shot put record for the competition.
Survivors include a son, Derek Landrum of Newport; his parents, Russell and Joyce Knoerl of Covington; a brother, Marcus Knoerl of Covington; and sisters, Vicky Ison of Erlanger, Cindy Knoerl of Covington and Tammy Carnahan of Union.
No services are planned. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger. C&C Mortuary, Covington, is handling arrangements.
Elizabeth Neusch, 63, of Burnet, Texas, formerly of Newport and Fort Thomas, died Saturday in Burnet, of injuries suffered in an auto accident. She was active in the ministry at Anchor of Hope Church in Burnet. Her first husband, Kenneth Johnson, died in 1991.
Survivors include her husband, Herman Neusch; a son, Dr. David Johnson of Denver; a daughter, Susan Schweinzger of Burnet; stepdaughters, Donna Neusch and Mary Theresa Neusch, both of Dallas, Esta Ingle and Gay Harris, both of Austin of Dallas; stepsons, Bill Neusch of Burnet and Dick Neusch of Austin, Texas; three grandchildren; and 15 step-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, Marble Falls, Texas. Burial will be in Lakeland Hills Cemetery, Burnet.
Ruth Jane Stevens, 88, of Virginia Beach, Va., formerly of Northern Kentucky, died Dec. 1 at Sentara Nursing Center in Virginia Beach. She was a member of Thalia Lynn Baptist Church, Virginia Beach.
Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis Wilson of Cleveland, Ga.; sons, Wayne Gue of Pomona, Calif., and Lee H. Day of Virginia Beach; a sister, Helen Beasley of Blanchester, Ohio; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Marie Wade, 86, of Cynthiana, died Monday at Grand Haven Nursing Home in Cynthiana.

Ralph A. Zink, 74, of Fort Thomas, died at 9:42 p.m. Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a salesman with French Bauer Dairy and owner of the Big Six Driving Range.
Survivors include his wife, Stell Kelley Zink; daughters, Linda Potter of Edgewood and Sandy Seibert of Independence; sons, Ralph A. Zink Jr. and Greg Zink, both of Cold Spring, and Garry Zink of Elsmere; sisters, Helen Wallace of Woodlawn and Jane Klump of Crestview; brothers, Melvin Kink of Ocala, Fla., and Don Zink of Covington; and 15 grandchildren.
