Hazel V. Shinkle, liked to paint
Hazel V. Shinkle was a good-natured woman who expressed herself in her oil paint ings.
Mrs. Shinkle, 75, of Union, enjoyed painting as a younger woman but set it aside to raise her family. Later, she took classes to develop her talent and has left her children paintings of winter and fall scenes and small animals.
"She was a wonderful mother and grandmother," said a daughter, April Shinkle of Union. "She set a good example for us."
Mrs. Shinkle died Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital West in Florence. She was a homemaker and former volunteer with Booth Hospital.
Mrs. Shinkle believed in helping others, which was a family tradition, April Shinkle said. One of the family's ancestors, Amos Shinkle, was a famous Northern Kentucky philanthropist who helped develop the Suspension Bridge in Covington.
Other survivors include sons, Terry Shinkle of McVille and Sheldon Shinkle of Corinth; a stepson, Danny Shinkle of Petersburg; a stepdaughter, Lana Perry of Independence; a sister, Wanda Hutson of Newport; eight grandchildren;five step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Burlington. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bullittsburg Cemetery. Louise Bickers, 69, of Carrollton, died Monday at her home. She was a homemaker and a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include sons, Gary Bickers of Carrollton and Jerry Bickers of Covington; brothers, Ike McAlister of Carrollton, Donald McAlister and Johnny McAlister, both of Madison, Ind., Frank McAlister and William "Sug" McAlister, both of Louisville; a sister, Virgie McAlister of Madison, Ind.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Graham-Dunn Funeral Home, Carrollton. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight, and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Carrollton.
Clarence F. Conradi, 93, of Fort Thomas, died Monday at Carmel Manor Nursing Home in Fort Thomas. He was a meter reader with Cincinnati Gas & Electric and Union Light, Heat and Power companies, and was a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society, Holy Name Society and the Bob White Sportsman Club. His wife, Helen Conradi, died in 1993.
Survivors include sons, Anthony Conradi of Cold Spring and Joseph Conradi of Chantilly, Va.; a daughter, Mary L. Kaiser of Wilder; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Anthony Church, Bellevue. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas. Dobbling Funeral Home, Bellevue, is handling arrangements.
Randy S. Greene, 36, of Falmouth, died Tuesday in Paris of injuries suffered in an auto accident. He was a truck driver with H. Meyer Dairy and was a member of Falmouth Methodist Church. He was a coach with Pendleton County Tee-Ball, Pendleton County Little League and girls fast pitch softball teams, and was a member of Pendleton County Country Club and the Milk and Ice Cream Drivers and Dairy Workers Union Local No. 98, Cincinnati. A son, Joshua Greene, died in 1991.
Survivors include his wife, Lisa D. Greene of Falmouth; a son, Clinton Randall Greene, at home; daughters, Jade Greene and Eden Greene, both at home; his mother, Pearl Greene Proeshell of Butler; and brothers, Steve Greene of Falmouth and Jeff Greene of Butler.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Peoples Funeral Home, Falmouth. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, 6612 Dixie Highway, Suite 2, Florence, Ky. 41042.
Clarence Foster "Booge" Hamilton, 75, of Avon Park, Fla., formerly of Brooksville, died Tuesday at Highlands Regional Medical Center in Sebring, Fla. He was a retired restaurant worker and a member of VFW Post No. 9535 in Augusta, Augusta American Legion and Brooksville Christian Church. He was a World War II veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma McKibben Hamilton; a son, Dan Hamilton of Chicago; brothers, Ben Hamilton and Donald Hamilton, both of Brooksville, and Melvin Hamilton of Mays Lick; and a sister, Elizabeth Klee of Falmouth.
Services will be at the convenience of the family.

George Jacob Knecht, 84, of Cincinnati, formerly of Covington, died Tuesday at Franciscan Medical Center, Dayton, Ohio. His wife, Catherine Feely Knecht, and daughters, Shirley Ann Knecht and Mary Alice Knecht, preceded him in death.
Survivors include sons, George R. Knecht and William C. Knecht; a daughter, Connie Leigh; a brother, Charles Knecht; sisters, Clara Mae Knecht and Mary Lay; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Paul R. Young Funeral Home, Cincinnati. Visitation will begin there at noon Thursday. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright.

Charles C. Marshall, 40, of Covington, died of cancer at 6:40 a.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a floral and interior designer with Keith Mueller Floral Co. and a member of St. Augustine Church in Covington.
Survivors include his mother, Rachel Breaden Marshall; sisters, Laura Fryman and Amanda Marshall, both of Covington, Judith Karam of New York, Andrea Marshall of Highland Heights, Mary Fran Simpson of Hoover, Ohio, and Rebecca Blom of Amelia, Ohio; and brothers, Douglas Marshall of Beaufort, S.C., and Anthony Marshall of Covington.

Joseph Lytle Poynter, 27, of Newport, died Monday at University Hospital, Cincinnati. He was the office manager and certified wrecker operator with Fender's Wrecker Service in Newport, after having worked with his father's company, I Tow In Inc. for most of his life. He was an active volunteer with Campbell County Boys and Girls Club and was a graphic artist. He designed T-shirts for fund-raising at the Towing and Recovery Museum in Chattanooga, Tenn.
Survivors include his parents, Rodney and Vickie Poynter of Newport; brothers, Jim Poynter of Taylor Mill, Jeff Poynter and Scott Poynter, both of Newport; a sister, Tiffany Poynter of Newport; and grandparents, Lizzie Poynter and Emma Jordan, both of Vanceburg, and Elmer Ludwig of Fort Thomas.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Baptist Church, Newport. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at Radel Funeral Home, Newport. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Black Oak Cemetery, Vanceburg.

Frank J. Rabe, 89, of Fort Mitchell, died at 6:55 a.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a retired accountant with National Lead Corp. and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
