Robert DeMoss, Reds, Derby fan
Robert DeMoss was a true fan of his hometown.
Born and raised in Campbell County, he worked 30 years as a design engineer with Procter & Gamble in Cincinnati.
Mr. DeMoss loved things about both sides of the river, his granddaughter said - the Cincinnati Reds and the Kentucky Derby.
"He definitely wanted to see Pete Rose in the Hall of Fame," Angie Martin said.
Every year around Derby day, Mr. DeMoss would throw a big party to celebrate the horse race, she said. "A hundred people would be there."
Mr. DeMoss of Fort Thomas, died Sunday at his home. He was 79.
Mr. DeMoss always put other people before himself, according to his wife and granddaughter.
"Anything he could do for a neighbor, he would do," said his wife, Madeline.
For many years, he was the treasurer of St. Bernard's Church festival in Dayton, even though he wasn't a member of the church. He hand-painted signs and made posters for the church festival, Ms. Martin said.
Mr. and Mrs. DeMoss were both members of the Bellevue Senior Citizens, where, she said, "we would just go down and party."
