Centenarian Rebecca Campbell Bush
Rebecca Campbell Bush always thought it would be interesting to live in three different centuries.
The 103-year-old homemaker from Owenton came up just about six weeks short of her goal.
"We were hoping she would make it (to the millennium)," said her stepson, Wallace Bush. "It would have been unique, but it didn't work out that way." Mrs. Bush died Thursday at Owen County Memorial Hospital.
Born in 1896 in Grapevine, Ky., Mrs. Bush met her husband, Noel, a father of five, in Cincinnati.
They were married
in 1942 and lived the rest of their lives as a farming family in Owen County.
"She filled in the gap there for all of us," Bush said. "She was good to the family."
Her husband died in 1988 and two sons, Charles Elmore Bush and Harry Bush, died in 1948 and 1986, respectively.
His stepmother was always positive, Bush recalled.
"She had a very good attitude," he said. "She lived a pretty good life."
Other survivors include a son, Bill Bush of Frankfort; a daughter, Annelle Perkins of Elsmere; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at McDonald Funeral Home, Seminary Street, Owenton.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Owenton.

Ruth Lee Kelly, 85, of Newport, died Thursday at Baptist Convalescent Center in Newport.
She was a homemaker and a member of Hopeful Lutheran Church in Florence, Union Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 461, and a 50-year member of the Homemakers Club.
Her husband, Virgil W. Kelly, died in 1979. A son, Virgil L. Kelly, died in 1987.
Survivors include sons, Harold W. Kelly of Elsmere and Garry C. Kelly of Independence; brothers, Charles Tanner of Covington, David Tanner of Florence, and Joe Tanner of Independence; a sister, Alberta Thibodeaux of Calvin, La.; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Hopeful Lutheran Cemetery, Florence.

William C. "Moose" Koenig III, 58, of Florence, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington.
He was a retired iron worker with Iron Workers Union Local No. 372 in Cincinnati, and a member of Covington Moose Lodge No. 1469 and Covington Turners.
He was an Air Force veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Koenig; a son, Bill Koenig of Florence; a brother, Paul Koenig of Las Vegas; sisters, Sue and Anna Marie, both of Philadelphia; and eight grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Covington Turners, 447 Pike St. in Covington.

Ivan McIntosh, 64, of Dayton, died at 10:55 p.m. Wednesday at his home.
He was a retired security guard with Watertown Marina in Dayton and a part-time Campbell County assistant deputy sheriff.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy McIntosh; a daughter, Joann Cozart of Cincinnati; a brother, Harlan McIntosh of Winchester; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 6 p.m. Sunday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Dayton.
Visitation will begin there at 3 p.m. Sunday.
Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Jeff.

Edna Elizabeth Seibert, 83, of Bellevue, died Thursday at River Valley Nursing Home, Bellevue.
She was a waitress with Thomas Pharmacy in Cincinnati and Dayton, and a five and dime store clerk.
Survivors include daughters, Carol Eggie of Melbourne and JoAnn Wise of Bellevue; a son, Edward Seibert of Erlanger; 10 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and two great-great- grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Bellevue.
Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.

Thomas Sowers, 66, of Ludlow, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington.
