Bruce Schabell, loved time with family

Bruce R. Schabell of Cold Spring was full of life.

He loved to hunt, fish, garden, act, dance, play cards and go on vacation with his Army buddies from World War II. At 81, he still rode his bicycle around Cold Spring.

"He had lots of friends," said his wife, Jeanne Vater Schabell. "He was very active for his age. He liked to party. I could never get him to come home, because he had so much fun."

Mr. Schabell died at 1:40 p.m. Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a retired financial manager with Familiar Finance Co., Cincinnati. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring. He was a member of the church Drama Club, the Holy Name Society and the Catholic Order of Foresters.

Mr. Schabell was a former Cold Spring City judge and a member of the Campbell County Fish and Wildlife Association.

Mr. Schabell, who was known for his well-kept yard, was also a family man.

"He loved family gatherings," his wife said. "He spent a lot of time with his children."

Other survivors include his daughters, Peggy Raum Meehan of Anderson Township, Ohio, and Diane Draud of Highland Heights; sons, Larry Schabell and Tim Schabell, both of Cold Spring; stepdaughters, Susan Vater of Dayton and Mary Therese Roberts of Taylor Mill; stepsons, Jim Vater of Alexandria, Tom Vater of Cold Spring and Bob Vater of Cincinnati; brothers, E. J. Schabell of Alexandria and Doug Schabell of Highland Heights; and 19 grandchildren.

Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be at 1 p.m. Friday at St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring. A reception will follow in the church Memorial Hall. Mr. Schabell bequeathed his body to the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Memorials are suggested to Campbell Lodge Boys Home, 150 Skyline Drive, Cold Spring, Ky. 41076; or American Cancer Society, 7730 U.S. 42, Suite C6, Florence, Ky. 41042.

Richard Carter, 70, of Florence, died at 10:37 p.m. Tuesday at his home. He was a retired salesman with Royal Coach Transportation Co., Cincinnati.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille Lynch Carter; a son, Richard Joseph Carter II of Florence; brothers, Robert James Carter of Cincinnati, Walter R. Carter and Jack Carter, both of Dayton; a sister, Gail Wallace of Dayton; and two grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Florence. Memorials are suggested to Richard Carter Memorial Fund, in care of Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, P.O. Box 15104, Covington, Ky. 41015. Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia, is handling arrangements.

Delma Drohan, 91, of Erlanger, died Monday at her home. She was a retired sales clerk with Shillito's Department Store and a member of Sts. Boniface and James Church and the Grandma's Club, both in Ludlow. Her husband, Edward J. Drohan, died in in 1985. A son, Edward C. Drohan Sr., died in 1991.

Survivors include two grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Mass of Christian burial was this morning at Sts. Boniface and James Church. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association, 2936 Vernon Place, Cincinnati, Ohio 45219. Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow, handled arrangements.

Jean Pattison Brown Fisk, 80, of Highland Heights, died Wednesday at Lakeside Place Nursing Home in Highland Heights. She was a homemaker, a member of Florence Christian Church, and a community volunteer.

Survivors include a son, John Harley Fisk of Crestview Hills; and a daughter, Sally Jean Fisk of Yorktown, Va.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.

Mary Collingsworth Foltz, of Crittenden, died Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence.

Arrangements are pending at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Crittenden.

Victor W. Good, 95, of Cold Spring, died Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.

He was a printer with C. J. Krehbiel Co. in Cincinnati and a Navy veteran of World War II. His wife, Helen E. Decker Good, preceded him in death.

Survivors include a son, Terrance L. Good of Cold Spring.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Stephen cemetery Chapel, Fort Thomas. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery. Dobbling Funeral Home, Fort Thomas, is handling arrangements.

Michael Eugene King, 50, of Bellevue, died Monday at his home. He was a disabled painter.

Survivors include brothers, Delzie King, Delmer King and Kenny King, all of Cincinnati.

Funeral procession will leave at 11 a.m. Friday from Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Newport, to Baltimore Pike cemetery in Cincinnati for graveside services. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Pearl L. Koke, 81, of Bellevue, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth

Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a clerical supervisor with Fireman's Fund Insurance Group, Cincinnati.

Survivors include a brother, Joseph Koke of Bellevue.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Bellevue. Visitation will begin there at 12:30 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery, Cincinnati. Memorials are suggested to American Diabetes Association, 8899 Brookside Ave., West Chester, Ohio 45069; or First Baptist Church of Bellevue, 25th and Washington, Bellevue, Ky. 41073.

Essica M. Marshall, 97, of Sanders, died Tuesday at Carroll County Memorial Hospital, Carrollton. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Benjamin Martin Marshall, preceded her in death.

Survivors include sons, Richard Marshall and Charles Marshall, both of Sanders, and Robert Marshall of Cincinnati; daughters, Eula Robertson of English, Dortha Parker of Jacksonville, N.C., Dona Wells, of Carrollton, Jean Shirmer of Ghent, Joyce Boggs of Cincinnati and Judy Keith of Sanders; 24 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home, Carrollton. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Carrollton. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Northern Kentucky, 1403 Alexandria Pike, Fort Thomas, Ky. 41075.

Mobie S. McIntosh, 63, of Burlington, died Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. He was a warehouseman with Aristech Chemicals in Florence.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Moss McIntosh; daughters, Shellie Howard and Teri Sexton, both of Burlington; a son, David McIntosh of Florence; a brother, Adam McIntosh of Richmond; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Burlington. Visitation will be form 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger. Memorials are suggested to Woodhaven Baptist Church, P. O. Box 358, Burlington, Ky. 41005.

Stephen J. Meyer, 80, of Highland Heights, died Wednesday at his home. He was a retired bell captain with Americana Inn at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.

Survivors include sons, James Meyer of Manchester and Marty Meyer of Campbell County; daughters, Carol Colegate of Cincinnati, Patricia Boughner of Bellevue and Linda Saunders of California; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas.

Ruth Jean Ringo, 84, of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., formerly of Covington, died at 10:30 p.m. Sept. 30 at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center. She was a homemaker and a member of Trinity

Episcopal Church in Covington.

Mrs. Ringo was a member of the Covington YMCA, the Junior Board of the Covington Protestant Children's Home and helped found the Northern Kentucky Senior Center in Covington. She was a member of the Beechwood High School Parent Teacher Association for over three decades, and was a member of the Young President Organization and the Chief Executives Organization.

Survivors include her husband, Dave Ringo; sons, David Ringo and Phil Ringo, both of San Francisco; a daughter, Preston Ringo fo Philadelphia; four granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 am. Saturday at Trinity Episcopal Church. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to Peter Ringo Memorial Garden Fund, in care of Trinity Episcopal Church, 18 E. Fourth St., Covington, Ky. 41011. Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Covington, is handling arrangements.

Rita J. Schnorbus Rusche, 74, of Loveland, Ohio, formerly of Fort Wright, died Friday at Jewish Hospital Kenwood, Cincinnati. She was a homemaker and a member of Good Shepard Church and the Sycamore Senior Center in Cincinnati. Her husband, Harold J. Rusche, preceded her in death.

Survivors include a daughter, Carol Shelander of Loveland, Ohio; sons, Hal Rusche, Timothy Rusche and Michael Rusche, all of Cincinnati; a brother, Leo Schnorbus of Northern Kentucky; sisters, Marian Schnorbus, Helen McClure, Martha Rauen, Elsie Nordman, Vera Baumer and Gert Wehrmeyer, all of Northern Kentucky; seven grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Mass of Christian burial was Tuesday at Chapel of Good Shepard Church, Cincinnati. Burial was in Gate of Heaven of Heaven. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, 7730 U.S. 42, Suite C6, Florence, Ky. 41042. Strawser Funeral Home, Cincinnati, handled arrangements.

Betty Snodgrass, 70, of Falmouth, died Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital East in Fort Thomas.

Arrangements are pending at Peoples Funeral Home, Falmouth.

Helen Martin Whalen, 63, of Carrollton, died Wednesday at Jewish Hospital, Louisville. She was a homemaker and a member of Carrollton Wesleyan Church. Her husband, Logan Whalen, died in 1996.

Survivors include a son, Kenneth Tomlinson of Carrollton; a stepson, Rev. Dean Whalen of Mayo, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Jean Howard of Cynthiana; and a brother, L. C. Martin of Carrollton.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Graham-Dunn Funeral Home, Carrollton. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight, and after 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Carrollton.
