John Crabb, facilities manager at Newport Housing Authority
John B. Crabb of Villa Hills worked about 25 years providing housing for the needy - the majority of that time for the Newport Housing Authority.
"He was one of the most outstanding individuals working toward providing housing for the needy of Kentucky," said Mark Brown, executive director of the Newport agency.
Mr. Crabb died early Tuesday morning at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati. He was 48 years old.
Mr. Crabb was born in Shelby County and grew up in Henry County.
He worked for the Louisville Housing Authority before taking a job with the Newport Housing Authority. There, he became director of facilities management for the Newport agency, which operates 571 apartments.
"He was in charge of the maintenance and for all the contracts for the improvement of the buildings," Brown said.
Mr. Crabb was past president of the Kentucky Housing Association Officials, and he was Kentucky's representative to the Southeastern Regional Council of the National Association of Housing and Rehabilitation Officials.
Mr. Crabb's wife said her husband was well-suited for the work.
"He was very caring and he was very concerned about people," said Mary Janice Crabb. The couple were married
eight years.
Mr. Crabb enjoyed landscaping work and refinishing furniture.
Other survivors include a son, W. Brian Crabb of Elsmere; daughters, Penny Mae Druin, Brandy Lee Crabb and Ashley Jo Rector, all of Louisville; his mother, Christine Baxter of Henry County; a sister, Susan Marie Davis of Pee Wee Valley; stepsisters, Brenda Kelley and Linda Bond, both of Henry County; a stepbrother, Larry Baxter of Henry County; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home in Fort Thomas. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Cremation will be at Hillside Chapel in Cincinnati.

Richard Gordon Billiter, 43, of Cincinnati, formerly of Union, died Monday at University Hospital in Cincinnati. He was an employee of Sun Chemical Corp., Cincinnati.
Survivors include his mother, Madeline Biliter ; brothers, James Billiter and Phillip Billiter, both of Crescent Springs, Charles Billiter of Elsmere, Allen Billiter of Union and Eddie Billiter of Dry Ridge; and sisters, Lynetta Tanner of Florence and Judy Hester of Dry Ridge.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Beech Grove Holiness Church in Burlington. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery, Burlington. Stith Funeral Home, Florence, is handling arrangements.
Ramona Buckley, 62, of Falmouth, died Tuesday at her residence.

Deloris Kay White Callen, 52, of Morning View, died Sunday at her home. She was a member of Goshen Christian Church and Kenton County Schools PTA.
Survivors include her husband, Bob Callen; sons, Robert Callen and Gene Callen, both of Florence; a daughter, Steffany Mardis of Taylor Mill; sisters, Wilma Jean Driscoll of Bloomington and Charlene Perkins of Gallatin County; brothers, Norman White of Hebron and James White of Park Hills; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery.
Evelyn A. England, 86, of Florence, died Tuesday at her home. She was a homemaker and a member of Hopeful Lutheran Church, Florence. Her husband, Robert H. England, died in 1965.
Survivors include a son, Robert K. England of Hebron.
Services will be at noon Friday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Hopeful Lutheran Cemetery, Florence.
Bernard Esselman, 79, of Crestview Hills, died Tuesday at Rosedale Manor, Latonia.

Edward Flickinger, 85, of Morning View, died Sunday at his home. He was a farmer.
Survivors include nephews and a niece.

Della Joan Phillips, 66, of Fort Thomas, died Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital East in Fort Thomas. She was a nurse's aide with Lakeside Place Nursing Home, Highland Heights.
Survivors include her husband, George Phillips; sons, Gus Phillips of Fort Thomas and Mike Phillips of Independence; a daughter, Christina Wilson of Alexandria; brothers, Alan Tabor of Covington, Butch Perkins and Tony Tabor, both of Michigan; ans sisters, Shirley Herbert of Indiana and Aleida Shaffer of Michigan.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at New Macedonia Old Regular Baptist Church, Newport. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 tonight at the church.
Elmer Richard Schwartz, 78, of Williamstown, died at 12:50 a.m. Tuesday at Grant Manor Nursing Home in Williamstown. He was a retired pharmacist and former owner of Burlington Pharmacy. He owned the pharmacy from 1955-76. Mr. Schwartz was a member of St. William Church Prayer Group in Williamstown. His wire, Elizabeth Crowe Schwartz, died in 1988.
Survivors include sons, Richard Daniel Schwartz of Gainesville, Fla., David Elmer Schwartz of Orlando, Fla., Steven Schwartz of Hebron and Gregory Schwartz of Burlington; a daughter, Judith Ann Larison of Williamstown; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Dennis James Searp Sr., 47, of Newport, died at 9:25 p.m. Monday at University Hospital, Cincinnati. He was a retired auto body mechanic.
Survivors include sons, Dennis James Searp Jr. of Newport and Brian Searp of Great Lakes, Ill.; a daughter, Shannon Long of Latonia; brothers, Kenneth Searp of Richwood and Jerry Searp of Newport; a half-brother, David R. Sellers of Edgewood; a sister, Edna Yenser of Van Nuys, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

Donna Marie Thomas, 76, of Mount Auburn, died Monday at Robertson County Health Care Center in Mount Olivet. She was a clerk at Roy Dragoo's Store and a member of Second 12-Mile Baptist Church in Peach Grove.
Survivors include a sister, Ruby Sharp of Mount Auburn; nieces and a nephew.

F. Dean Thomas, 62, of Covington, died at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a printer and owner of PDQ Quick Print Center in Cincinnati and an Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Elke Maria Kraus Thomas; sons, Michael Dean Thomas of Dayton, Ohio, and Jeffrey Alan Thomas of Florence; brothers, Lowell Thomas of Elliston and Harold Vernon Thomas of Flatwood; sisters, Bonnie McGuire of Covington and Linda Rice of Dwale; one grandson and one step-grandson.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony Church in Taylor Mill. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Covington. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.
William E. "Tubby" Webster, 70, of Walton, died Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence.

Albert G. Wiesman, 65, of Cincinnati, formerly of Newport, died Monday at Manor Care Health Services in Cincinnati. He was a maintenance worker with U.S. Shoe Corp., Cincinnati.
Survivors include his wife, Mabel Meyer Wiesman; stepdaughters, Carol Bennington of Cincinnati and Sheila Konnagen of Roswell, N.M.; a stepson, Charles Benson of Cincinnati; sisters, Irene Murnahan of Dayton, Joyce South of Alexandria and Ruth Woolfert of Taylor Mill; and six grandchildren.
