Jack Studer, devoted to family
Jack Studer had a way of making people smile.
Whether working as a supervisor at the old Wiedemann Brewery in Newport or as an honorary member of the Covington firefighters local union, Mr. Studer kept his sense of humor.
"He was extremely witty. He always had a quick comeback," said a daughter, Tracy Studer of Covington. "And he was a devoted father. He worked his whole life for his kids."
Mr. Studer, 64, of Covington, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North in Covington.
Mr. Studer was born and raised in Covington. His brother, Robert, was a Covington firefighter, and Jack Studer often helped at the firehouses.
At one time, Jack Studer was a sergeant in the Marine Corps. He was a fan of the Cincin nati Reds and Kentucky Wildcats mens' basketball team.
Mr. Studer also enjoyed spending time with his wife of 38 years, Barbara Studer, and their grandchildren.
"People gravitated toward him. He had a personality where everyone seemed to love him," Miss Studer said. "He always helped people and never asked for anything in return."
Other survivors include daughters, Jackie Herzog of Latonia and Jamie Bailey of Fort Mitchell; a son, Mark Studer of Independence; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright. Memorials are suggested to American Diabetes Association, 8899 Brookside Ave., West Chester, Ohio 45069.
Rawlings Carter, 86, of Lexington, formerly of Ludlow, died Thursday at Mayfair Manor in Lexington.
Arrangements are pending at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Ludlow.
Pearl J. "Kit" Hamilton, 93, of Foster, died Thursday at Florence Park Care Center. He was a farmer and a member of Bethany Church of Christ, Bracken County.
Survivors include a son, Charles Hamilton of Chattahoochee, Fla.; a daughter, Linda King of Burlington; brothers, Cecil Hamilton and Omer Hamilton, both of Foster; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Moore and Parker Funeral Home, Brooksville. Visitation will begin there at noon Saturday. Burial will be in Powersville Cemetery. Ellen Hampton, 77, of Walton, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
Arrangements are pending at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Walton.
Reba Hummell Kaser, 67, of Latonia, died at 5:56 p.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Russell Kaser; sons, Robert Hummell of Newport, William Hummell of Covington, and Roger Hummell and David Hummell, both of Baltimore; sisters, Mildred Bruner of Cumberland and Hazel Merril of Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 8 p.m. today at Catchen Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will begin there at 6 p.m. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright.
Richard Kirk, 76, of Dover, died at 2:06 p.m. Wednesday at Meadowview Regional Medical Center, Maysville. He was a farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Kirk; a son, Dewey W. Kirk of Dover; and a sister, Birdie Fuller of Sidney, Ohio.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Brell and Son Funeral Home, Maysville. Visitation will begin there at 6 p.m. today. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Maysville.
Harold McDonald, 71, of Southgate, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington.
Survivors include a brother, Robert McDonald of Cincinnati.
Memorial services will be private. Fares J. Radel Funeral Home and Crematory, Cincinnati, is handling arrangements.
Harold George Reibling, 85, of Crescent Park, died at 4:20 p.m. Thursday at Rosedale Manor Nursing Home, Covington. He was a retired assembly line worker for Wadsworth Electric, played semi-professional softball and baseball and was a member of the Northern Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. His wife, Lida Reibling, preceded him in death.
Survivors include sons, Charles Reibling of Villa Hills and Albert Dutch Reibling of Covington.
Services will be at 11 a.m. at Connley Bros. Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetary, Fort Wright. Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Church, 2470 Lorraine Ct., Crescent Springs, 41017.
Harry Joseph Simmons, 68, of Walton, died Wednesday at his home.

James Tolbert, 66, of Owenton, died Thursday at his home. He was a farmer and a member of Long Ridge Baptist Church, Owenton. Sons, Barry Wayne Tolbert and Christopher Lowell Tolbert, and a daughter, Virginia Ann Tolbert, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Berta Jean Cornelius Tolbert; sons, Timothy Ray Tolbert of Owenton and Terry Dale Tolbert of Clearwater, Fla.; daughters, Theresa Chandler and Pamela Lynn Duncan, both of Owenton, and Shelly Joe Wadell of Kansas City, Mo.; a sister, Jewell Bushman of Highland Heights; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
