James W. Isaacs helped others
James W. Isaacs worked hard all of his life but believed in sharing the gifts and talents he had accumulated.
Mr. Isaacs, a retired die setter at a Cincinnati manufacturing company, was a regular contributor to the Norwood Food Closet, which helps hungry people.
He also played the guitar and sang gospel songs to residents of Woodspoint Nursing Home in Florence and the Dupree Nursing Facility in Cincinnati, where he volunteered.
"My dad cared a lot about people and did what he could to help them," said a daughter, Darla Isaacs of Plainsboro, N.J.
"When you met him, he was friendly and outgoing. Everyone seemed to like my dad."
Mr. Isaacs, 79, of Erlanger, died Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood.
He was a laborer and a member of Cameron Avenue Church of God in Norwood, Ohio.
Mr. Isaacs spent most of his life in Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati and had many friends, his daughter said.
He learned to play the guitar as a young man and enjoyed country and gospel music.
"He loved to joke, and he loved to laugh," Ms. Isaacs said.
"Music was his hobby and the main thing he enjoyed doing. He liked playing old hymns."
Mr. Isaacs is also survived by his wife, Viola Isaacs; sons, Rev. Vernon "Gene" Isaacs of Norwood, Ohio, James W. Isaacs of Springboro, Ohio, and Ronald Isaacs of Independence; brothers, Amos Isaacs of Dell City, Okla., Charley Isaacs of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Herbert Isaacs of Dry Ridge; sisters, Minnie Waldorff of Cincinnati; Myrtle Rice of Florence and Susan Malicote of Sandgap; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Burlington.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Entombment will be in Forest Lawn cemetery Mausoleum, Erlanger.

Hazel Scott Adams, 82, of Covington, died Saturday at St. Luke Hospital West in Florence.
She was a retired prep cook for Three Brothers Cafe, Newport.
Survivors include daughters, Pat Rose of Covington and Bonnie Gerwe of Taylor Mill; a son, Bob Adams of Union; brothers, Marvin Price of Latonia and Paul Price of Twentynine Palms, Calif.; 18 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger.
Visitation will be from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Hopeful Cemetery, Florence.
William L. Billups, 23, of Covington, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North in Covington.
He worked as a phlebotomist.
Survivors include his mother, Pamela Stallworth of Covington; sisters, Revan Billups, Cierra Alexander and Tierra Alexander, all of Covington; and grandparents, William and Irenda Billups of Cincinnati.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, 120 E. Ninth St., Covington. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Vine Street Hill Cemetery, Cincinnati. Jones and Simpson Funeral Home, Covington, is handling arrangements.
James Andrew Brennan, 76, of Cynthiana, died Sunday at his residence.
He was an Army veteran, member of St. Edward Church, Cynthiana, and former member of Rotary Club of Key West, Fla.
Survivors include his wife, Henrietta Pierson Brennan; sons, James A. Brennan of Atlanta, Edward Brennan of Pensacola, Fla., and Patrick Brennan; daughters, Melissa Brennan and Sheila Brennan, both of Daytona Beach, Fla.; stepsons, Charles J. Stoehr of Spring Hill, Fla., and Steven M. Stoehr and Mark W. Stoehr, both of Cincinnati; a stepdaughter, Michelle D. Hutchison of Cincinnati; a brother, Raymond Bren nan of Boston; a sister, Mary Jane Brennan of Long Island, N.Y.; several grandchildren; and several step-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Edward Church, Cynthiana.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Ware Funeral Home, Cynthiana, with praying of the Rosary at 7:30 tonight.

Anetta "Gail" Fussinger, 82, of Dayton, died Sunday at St. Luke Hospital East in Fort Thomas. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Dobbling Funeral Home, Bellevue, is handling arrangements.
Pete Gosekamp, 81, of Latonia, died at 1:14 a.m. Saturday at his son's residence in Charlestown, N.H.
Arrangements are pending at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia.
Karen Jo Glass Mauro, 35, of Burlington, died Saturday in an auto accident on the AA Highway in Bracken County.
She was a nutritionist for Three Rivers Health Department.
Survivors include her husband, Ken dall George Mauro; a daughter, Kennedy Gabrielle Mauro of Burlington; her father, Jim W. Glass of Owenton; her mother, Joan D. DuPuy Glass; and sisters, Robin McGuire of Glencoe, Amy Glass Woodyard of Hyde Park, Ohio, and Meagan Glass of Owenton.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at McDonald Funeral Home, Seminary Street location, Owenton.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.

Garnet Robinson, 85, of Alexandria, died Saturday at St. Luke Hospital West in Florence.
She was a homemaker and a member of Fairlane Baptist Church, Alexandria. Her husband, Henry Robinson, preceded her in death.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick.
Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.
Richard Lee Walters Sr., 70, of Owenton, died Sunday at Owen County Hospital.
He was a retired mechanic, an Army veteran of the Korean war, and a member of United Baptist Church, Owenton.
His wife, Mary Hisle Walters, preceded him in death.
Survivors include daughters, Joan Stewart of Owenton and Lola Wilson of Sparta; sons, Elba Walters, Ollie Walters and Richard Walters Jr., all of Owenton; sisters, Beulah Mae Traylor of Owenton, Celia Day of Goshen, Ohio, Delia Madden of Nicholasville, Georgia Helen Warren of Midway, Emma Dee Robins of Grand Rivers and Della Harrison of Stamping Ground; also eight grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Rogers Funeral Home, Corinth.
Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Owenton IOOF Cemetery.
