Eber E. MAHON
Eber E. Mahon, 83, Dies in Chicago, Wednesday

Funeral services for Eber E. Mahon, 83, a former Fayette county resident, were conducted at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in Beck's funeral home at Bloomington.

Mr. Mahon, a retired pharmacist, was the son of the late Jeduthan and Ruth Mahon, pioneer settlers on Hickory creek at what is known as Old Loogootee, in Wheatland township, this county.

His boyhood days were spent on the farm. Upon reaching adulthood he entered college and graduated in pharmacy in which profession he was engaged until retirment a few years ago. He located in Decatur in 1930 and lived there most of the last 11 years. His death occurred Monday afternoon in the home of a daughter, in Chicago, with whom he shared a home a portion of his declining years. Besides the daughter, Mrs. Loberg, he leaves a son.

Kinmundy Express, 1 Mar 1945

26 Feburary 1945

George B. MAHON, 82, of Green Mountain Falls, Colorado, died Monday. He was born in Kinmundy on Jan. 2, 1862. He went to Kansas in 1887 and settled near Silver Lake, where he lived until 1917, when he moved to Green Mountain Falls last November. He is survived by 2 daughters, Mrs. Clara MITCHELL of Delia; and Miss Hazel MAHON of Mankato; a step-daughter, Mrs. Jessie DOW of Denver; 2 sons, George B. MAHON of Silver Lake and Lloyd L. MAHON of Burlingame; a step-son, Harry FULLER of California; and 6 grandchildren.

George M. Mahon, 70, of Decatur, native of the Brownstown area, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, in Barnes hospital at St. Louis. Mo. (1978)

Funeral sevices were held at 10 a.m. Saturday Aug. 12, at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Decatur.
Burial was in Macon cemetery.

Mr. Mahon was born near Brownstown to John and Pearl Mahon.
He owned and operated Macon Farm Supply, Inc., in Macon, with his son.
He served on the Brush college board of education and was instrumental in the formation of the Lakeview school district. He served as president of the district through the planning and dedication of Lakeview high school.
He married Clida M. Stein in 1928.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, James M. of Decatur: daughter; Mrs. Daniel (Shirley M.) Moore of Decatur; brothers, Jesse and Hubert of Brownstown: two sisters, Alda Watts of Branson, Mo.; and Virginia Miller of Brownstown, and two grandchildren.
His parents, one sister and one brother preceded him in death.

Harley Mahon

Harley Mahon, 72, of Beech Creek, died Wednesday, March 8, 2000, in Williamson Appalachian Regional Hospital, South Williamson, Ky. Born March 6, 1928, at O'keefe, he was a son of the late Harley and Linda Blankenship Mahon.

He was also preceded in death by: sisters, Bessie and Mina Cisco, Cordie and Maxie Mahon; and brothers, Ace, Frank and Roy Mahon. He was a retired coal miner from W-P Coal Co., a member of the United Mine Workers of America and Beech Creek Church of Christ.
Survivors: wife of 53 years, Lina Cisco Mahon, Beech Creek; sons, Lonis Mahon, Matewan, Harley Bruen Mahon, Blackberry City, Danny Mahon, Wharncliffe; daughters, Juanita Palm, Greenville, S.C., Agnes Sherburn, Taylor, Mich., Imajean Honaker and Margaret Caldwell, both of Beech Creek; sisters, Ima Miller, Newtown, Belle Cisco, Beech Creek, Melda Hall, Pedro, Ohio; and 12 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren.

Funeral: 2 p.m. Saturday, March 11, 2000, at Beech Creek Church of Christ with the Evang. J.D. Mahon officiating.

Burial: Kennedy Cemetery, Beech Creek.

Pallbearers: family and friends.

Visitation: after 4 p.m. today at the church with service at 7 p.m. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Hatfield Funeral Chapel, Toler, Ky.

Harold C. Mahon

Harold C. Mahon, 87, of rural St. Peter died at 6;58am on Tuesday, June 22 at St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia.

Mr. Mahon was born on March 7, 1906, in Fayette County, son of Charles F. and Leia (Bocock) Mahon.

He was a retired farmer; a former member of Pleasant Grove United Brethen Church, rural St Peter, and a cemetery Trustee of Pleasant Grove cemetery for over 60 years.
He married Edith E. Ahlmann on Feb. 13, 1930, in Waukegan, Illinois.

Surviving are his wife; sons, James. H. of Heber Springs, Arkansas; Dean of Princeton; David of Centralia; Charles L. of Vandalia; daughter, Mary Mahon of Vandalia; 10 grandchildren; 6 great-grand-children.

Four brothers, Earl, Ralph, Frank and Carroll, preceded him in death. -

Funeral services were held on Friday, June 25 at Hotz-PageI Funeral Home, St. Peter. Rev. Victor Zinn of Centralia, a family friend, officiated. Interment was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, rural St. Peter.

Memorials: Fayette County Health Department or donor's choice.

J. P. Mahon, 89, Dies July 4th

James Pleasant Mahon, son of Wesley and Polly Mahon, was born December 28, 1844, in Fayette County, died July 4, 1934, aged 89 years, 6 months, and 6 days.
He was united in marriage with Nancy C. Loveless on January 15, 1867. To this union were born six children- Polly, Elzora, Charles, Fred, Eldon, Elzy and Llewellyn.
His wife preceded him in death on March 24, 1900. Four of his children have passed as follows:
Polly Smail, January 22, 1931; Elzora Pontious about eight years ago; Elden, April 2, 1880;
Elzy on January 11, 1883. Two survive-Fred, of Decatur, and Lew, of Anna.
Also eighteen grandchildren and a large number of great-grandchildren.

Early in life he professed Christianity, affiliated with the Christian church and attended services at the Arm Prairie church as long as his health would permit. He was a member of one of the pioneer families of Fayette County. He was the next to the oldest and last of the Wesley Mahon children. Cynthia Loveless, Juduthen Dapp, Mary Williams, and Zebedee Mahon having preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held from the Arm Prairie Christian church Friday afternoon, July 6th, at two o'clock, conducted by Re. Wm. A. Askew. Interment in cemetery nearby.

Jeduthen Mahon

We are again called upon lo chronicle the death of another pioneer citizen.
Mr. Jeduthen Mahon, who departed this life at his home in Wheatland township, Sept. lst, 1900. aged 75 years, 8 months and 9 days. Jeduthen Mahon was born in Pittsylvania county, Virginia, Dec. 22d, 1834. Emigrated to Illinois in 1845 and located In Fayette county, where he resided until the day of his death.
He was married to Miss Ruth Hoover in November. 1850.
He was the father of nine children - three of whom have preceded him to the great beyond - four sons,
two daughters and an aged mother are left to mourn his demise.
The funeral took place at Loogootee Sept. 3d, Rev. E. S. Rees conducting the services, after which his remains were laid to rest in the Loogootee cemetery to await the resurrection morn.
Deceased was highly esteemed by all, and by his death the community has lost one of its most
honored citizens. Oh, who can fill the place of father, for his place is now vacant in our home.
