Eugene Scott, former boxer, devoted life to raising kids
Although Eugene Scott boxed in the Army, in the Golden Gloves and had some professional matches, he dedicated his life to raising his children instead of knocking out opponents. In his youth, Mr. Scott boxed because he enjoyed the sport, said a daughter, Bonita Marshall of Villa Hills.
However, Mr. Scott was a quiet family man who outside of the ring never displayed any of the violence associated with boxing, Mrs. Marshall said.
"I really respected him," she said. "He married
a woman with five children and raised them as his own.
"He was a good guy," Mrs. Marshall said.
"He loved to play cards with my husband, and he loved to fish."

Mr. Scott enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He would take them fishing and often attended their soccer and baseball games, Mrs. Marshall said.
Mr. Scott was one of 13 children, so being around youngsters was nothing new to him, his daughter said.
"Our mother died quite a few years ago. I remember he always did the best for us after she died," Mrs. Marshall said.
