Chester Robinson, co-founded church, owned trucking firm
Chester Robinson was perhaps best known to his neighbors as the founder of C & J Trucking Co. in Florence.
But his wife of 38 years, Joyce Robinson, said she respected him as much for helping found the Gathering Place Church in Florence in 1984.
"The church started in our home. We later built the church, and he supported me all the way," said Mrs. Robinson, who is the minister at the church.
"He loved church. I was proud of him for that."
Mr. Robinson, 58, of Union, died at 12:10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital West in Florence.
He began his trucking company as a long-distance driver in 1969 and incorporated the business about 10 years later.
At one time he employed about 20 people, his wife said. He retired about nine years ago.
"He was a very strong, outspoken man. He was one to speak his mind," Mrs. Robinson said.
Still, Mr. Robinson, who grew up in Northern Kentucky, always thought of his employees first, she said.
"He was a good dad and good grandfather," Mrs. Robinson said.
"He was also a very good husband."
In addition to his wife, other survivors include a son, Chad M. Robinson of Union; a daughter, Jody E. Cuzik of Union; brothers, Kelly Robinson of Burlington and Herman Robinson of Petersburg; sisters, Margaret Nancy King of Burlington, Kathy Shinkle of Petersburg and Loretta Kurtz of Crittenden; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Florence.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.

Helen Boltz, 88, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., formerly of Bellevue, died at 6:27 p.m. Sunday at Pembroke Memorial Hospital, Fort Lauderdale. She was an administrator with the Social Security Administration and a charter member of the Christ Lutheran Church of Oakland Park, Fla.
Survivors include several cousins.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger. Catchen Funeral Home, Elsmere.
Eloise Collier, 45, of Covington, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North in Covington.
Arrangements are pending at Joseph R. Garr Funeral Home, Cincinnati.
Edna M. Cox, 72, of Falmouth, died Monday at her home. She was a retired restaurant worker and a member of Fairview United Methodist Church, Johnsville.
Survivors include her husband, Leonard F. Cox; a daughter, Linda Dauplaise of Orlando, Fla.; a sister, Mildred Arnold of Cynthiana; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Peoples Funeral Home, Falmouth. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Johnsville Cemetery, Bracken County. George Goodwin, 80, of Florence, died at Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington.
Arrangements are pending at Stith Funeral Home, Florence.
Ora Lee Lofton, 86, of Mays Lick, died at 2:35 p.m. Tuesday at her home. She was a former employee of the former Oaks Nursing Home and Mays Lick School, and a member of Second Baptist Church, Mays Lick. Her husband, John Albert Lofton, died in 1988. A daughter, Cynthia Guinn, and an infant son, James Earl Lofton, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons, John L. Lofton of Lexington and Paul Lofton of Mays Lick; daughters, Alice Lusk of Lexington, Mary Warner and Loretta Williams Smith, both of Cincinnati and Anna Bluford of Mays Lick; a brother, James Bolden of Lexington; sisters, Viola Hill of Cincinnati and Mary Frances Higgins of Mays Lick; 21 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Second Baptist Church, Mays Lick. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be in Mays Lick Cemetery. Palmer Funeral Home, Mays Lick, is handling arrangements.
Harold C. "Buck" Lutz, 73, of Crescent Springs, died Wednesday at his home. He was a heavy equipment mechanic and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Norma Lutz; a son, Rick Lutz of Crescent Springs; daughters, Charlotte Garner of Elkhart, Ind., Linda Morrison of Waxahachie, Texas, and Joni Harwell of Dallas; his mother, Mary Lutz Knight of Silverton, Ohio; sisters, Doris Bailey of Florence and Irma Luthy of Fayetteville, N.C.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger. Memorials are suggested to Redwood Rememberance Fund, 71 Orphanage Road, Fort Mitchell, Ky. 41017.
D. Sonny Spencer, 68, of Walton, died at 6 p.m. Tuesday at his home. He was a retired employee of the B&O; Railroad. His wife, Naomi Spencer, died in 1988.
Survivors include daughters, Debra Spencer of Louisville, Brenda Spencer Tarvin of Hebron, Annette Spencer of Florence and Sandra Spencer of Winston-Salem, N.C.; a son, Tommy Ray Spencer of Council Bluff, N.C.; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Walton. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in New Bethel Cemetery, Verona. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Northern Kentucky, 1403 Alexandria Pike, Fort Thomas, Ky. 41075.
Eunice Tritsch, 98, of Covington, died at 1:45 a.m. today at her residence.

Clark Anthony Wander, 42, of Florence, died Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital West in Florence. He was a sales representative and a member of Burlington Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Garrett Anthony Wander of Florence; a stepdaughter, Sarah Compton of Florence; his mother, Hattie Lee Wander of Florence; and a sister, Darlene Maley of Villa Hills.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will begin there at 9:30 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.
