Ft. Mitchell's Edward Ziegelmeyer, sang, entertained as 'Ed Williams'
Although Edward J. Ziegelmeyer's occupation was listed as loan account executive, it was his talent as a singer and entertainer that friends and family members will remember most.
Mr. Ziegelmeyer, 46, of Fort Mitchell, died at 11 p.m. Sunday at his home.
His mother, Helen A. Ziegelmeyer of Florence, said her son hadn't felt well lately, but friends and family members were surprised by his death.
"We think it was his heart," Mrs. Ziegelmeyer said.
"He was a good person, he was happy-go-lucky. You could always tell he was at the party because you could hear him."
Mr. Ziegelmeyer was a loan account executive for the Norwest Mortgage Co., Cincinnati, and a well-known organist and singer who performed under the stage name "Ed Williams." He worked at the Black Forest Restaurant in Cincinnati, the old Town & Country Restaurant in Park Hills and at Holiday Inns in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.
Mr. Ziegelmeyer retired from his stage career about four years ago. He had been musically inclined since he was a child and taught himself how to do magic tricks, his mother said.
Mr. Ziegelmeyer was also very charitable. He helped raise money for children who suffered from lung diseases and packed grocery bags for low-income people. He was a member of St. Ann Church in Cincinnati.
"Everyone loved him," Mrs. Ziegelmeyer said.
