Delphia J. Weber, 40-year career as registered nurse began in 1937
The same personality traits that made Delphia J. Weber a loving mother and wife made her a top-notch nurse.
"She was very caring and loving," said a daughter, Hanna Grabow of Erlanger. "She really cared for her patients."
Mrs. Weber, 84, of Highland Heights, died at 6:50 a.m. Monday in her home.
She was a retired registered nurse with Speers, Booth and St. Luke hospitals. She began her career in 1937 at Speers and soon went to work with her husband for the U.S. Army in Panama.
When they returned, Mrs. Weber found her services in great demand. She worked until she retired in the mid-1970s.
"She was a wonderful nurse," Mrs. Grabow said. "She knew her stuff. She was very good at what she did."
After Mrs. Weber retired, she liked to visit her winter home in Florida. She also enjoyed crocheting and bowling. When her husband, Wolter H. Weber, died in 1991, she moved from Melbourne to Highland Heights.
She was a member of Melbourne United Methodist Church, the Speers Hospital Alumni Association and the Kentucky and Campbell County homemakers associations. She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Other survivors include a daughter, Marsha Foltz of Hebron; a sister, Lina Smith of Highland Heights; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Alexandria Cemetery.

Dorothy Anderson, 94, of Bellevue, died Monday at her home. She was a homemaker. Her husband, William M. Anderson, died in 1969. A son, William Anderson, and a daughter, Dorothy Lauter Wasser, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol Bales of Bellevue; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at noon Friday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Bellevue. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate. Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association, 1885 Dixie Highway, Suite 250, Fort Wright, Ky. 41011.
Ruth Bailey, 72, of Latonia, died Monday at her residence.

Jo Ann Barnett, 66, of Newport, died at 5:50 p.m. Sunday at University Hospital, Cincinnati. She was a sales representative and coordinator with Avon.
Survivors include her husband, Clint Barnett; daughters, Karen Merman of Newport and Connie Lovell of Dayton; and four grandchildren.

Edytha Catherine Boyce, 90, of Fort Mitchell, died at 10:45 a.m. Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was executive director of Girl Scout councils in Northern Kentucky, Ashland, Syracuse, N.Y., and Worcester, Mass. She was a former deaconess with Lakeside Presbyterian Church, Lakeside Park, and a member of the American Association of University Women.
Survivors include a cousin, Robert Clifton of Hudson, Fla.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Highland cemetery Chapel. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Robert Lester Carroll, 72, of Florence, died Saturday at St. Luke Hospital West in Florence. He was a retired salesman with American Bakery, Cincinnati.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Carroll; a daughter, Lee Donlin of Erlanger; sons, Robert S. Carroll of Richwood and Douglas R. Carroll of Florence; a stepson, Harry Sparrow of Union; sisters, Betty Hossman of Burlington and Denise Williams of Athens, Ala.; a brother, Don Carroll of Maryville, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at noon Wednesday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Wilmington Cemetery, Fiskburg.
Addie L. Clifton, 92, of Newport, died at 2:05 a.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church, Covington. Her husband, Roy B. Clifton, died in 1989. Sons, Floyd Douglas Clifton, Elmer Clifton and Robert Clifton; and daughters, Edna Clifton and Margaret Clifton, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons, William R. Clifton of Taylor Mill and J. Franklin Clifton of Fort Mitchell; a daughter, Dorothy Schaefer of Burlington; a sister, Christine Lankford of Dixon, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Joseph W. Gampfer, 83, of Alexandria, died Saturday at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati. He was a retired carpenter and a member of United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America Union Local No. 698, Cincinnati. He was a former employee of Brose Construction Co. and Smith & Schaefer Co., both in Cincinnati, and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Harriet Peters Gampfer; a daughter, Charlene J. Gampfer of Alexandria; and a brother, Carroll Gampfer of Cold Spring.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Alexandria Funeral Home. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Thursday. Cremation will be at Hillside Chapel, Cincinnati. Carolyn Pauline Rauch Gaukel, 91, of Bellevue, died Sunday at Lakeside Place Nursing Home, Highland Heights. She was a homemaker and a member of Sacred Heart Church in Bellevue. She was a member of the church St. Mary Altar Society, Christian Mothers and St. John Ladies Society. Her husband, Carl Andrew Gaukel, died in 1978.
Survivors include sons, Gerald Gaukel of Bellevue, Ken Gaukel of Highland Heights and Robert Gaukel of Fort Mitchell; daughters, Patricia Grzanke of Monfort Heights, Ohio, Lorraine Perry of Cold Spring and Marianne Sandfoss of Bellevue; sisters, Leona Butsch of California and Anna Romito of Fort Thomas; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Bellevue. Edward Lee Kirk Sr., 52, of Newport, died Friday at his home. He was a mover with A1 Veterans Moving Co.
Survivors include a son, Edward Lee Kirk Jr. of South Bend, Ind.; daughters, Crystal Hatch, Gloria Kirk Smith and Rita Turner, all of Newport; a brother, Phillip Kirk of Tacoma, Wash.; and 13 grandchildren.

Joyce Simpson Mason Lawrence, 72, of Williamstown, died Monday at St. Luke Hospital West in Florence. She was a former cafeteria worker for General Motors in Norwood, Ohio, and formerly worked for Procter and Gamble, Cincinnati. She was a member of Mason Baptist Church, Grant County; and Order of Eastern Star Chapter No. 301, Williamstown. Her first husband, Norman Thomas Mason, died in 1976.
Survivors include her husband, Jesse T. Lawrence; a daughter, Donna K. Boerger of Groesbeck, Ohio; a son, Dale K. Mason of Sharonville, Ohio; a stepson, David L. Lawrence of North Bend, Ohio; brothers, Louis C. Simpson of Owenton and Omer B. Simpson of St. Petersburg, Fla.; sisters, Geneva Reffitt of Portsmouth, Ohio, and Lois Epperson of Florence; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Mason Baptist Church, Grant County. James Osborne Mattingly, 55, of Ocala, Fla., formerly of Newport, died Tuesday in Ocala.
Survivors include sons, James Mattingly and Timothy Mattingly, both of Newport; daughters, Kim Mattingly of Newport and Jennifer Batten of Silver Springs, Fla.; his mother, Bernell Gammon of Harrodsburg; stepmother, Hilda Mattingly of Butler; brother, John Mattingly and Thomas Mattingly, both of Butler, and Rodney Mattingly of California; sisters, Charlene Hurt of Harrodsburg, Betty Smith of Butler and Debra Bishop of Falmouth; a stepbrother, Edwin Bray of Fairfield, Ohio; a stepsister, Linda Ferrel of California; and seven grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. June 20 at Pioneer Baptist Church, Harrodsburg. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg. Alexandria Funeral Home is handling local arrangements.
Ralph McFarland, 62, of Cincinnati, formerly of Burlington, died Sunday at his home. He was a teacher at Covington Academy, and a former director of transportation with the Cuyahoga County Board of Mental Retardation in Cleveland. He was a former supervisor of transportation for Forest Hills School District and taught at the University of Cincinnati and Hughes High School in Cincinnati.
Survivors include his wife, Linda McFarland; daughters, Jody McFarland and Kim McFarland, both of Cincinnati, Kelly Moser and Marty Walker, both of Lexington; and a brother, Harold McFarland of Burlington.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Burlington. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Burlington Cemetery.
Fred E. Messer, 55, of Covington, died at 10 a.m. Monday at Veterans Administration Medical Center, Cincinnati. He was retired Army veteran.
Survivors include a daughter, Oletta Bishop of Clermont County, Ohio; sisters, Oletta Hodge of Chillicothe, Ohio, Marie Spicer of Barbourville and Charlotte Smith of Flat Lick; and one grandchild.

Sophie Nienaber, 97, of Kennedy Heights, Ohio, died Friday at Camargo Manor of Kennedy Heights. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Henry Herman Nienaber, died in 1981.

Jeffrey Lynn Redmond, 46, of Union, died at 1:47 p.m. Sunday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. He was electrocuted in an accident at his home. He was a self-employed carpenter and a member of VFW Post No. 4, Boone County. He was a retired Navy veteran and a veteran of the Gulf War.
Survivors include a son, Jeffrey Redmond of Virginia; a daughter, Jodie Redmond of Virginia; his mother and stepfather, Patricia and James Beers of Fort Mitchell; brothers, John Paul Redmond Jr. of Fort Wright and James Patrick Redmond of Union; a stepsister, Brenda Reineke of Park Hills; a stepbrother, Bart Beers of Hebron; and a grandmother, Louise Dryden of Latonia.

Jack Schlotman, 79, of Park Hills, died at 9:30 p.m. Sunday at his home. He was a retired ramp supervisor with Trans World Airlines and a member of St. Agnes Church, Fort Wright. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. His wife, Jean Exterkamp Schlotman, died in 1981.
Survivors include sons, J. Michael Schlotman of Villa Hills, Timothy Schlotman of Florence and Thomas Schlotman of Cincinnati; a sister, Eileen Michels of Maineville, Ohio; and six grandchildren.

Edna C. Tincher, 72, of Germantown, died Monday at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington. She was a homemaker and attended Calvary Temple, Maysville. Her husband, Landreth A. Tincher, died in 1958. A son, Michael Tincher, died in 1954.
Survivors include daughters, Elizabeth Hamm of Germantown and Sandra Hampton of Amelia, Ohio; sisters, Doris Ellis of Ludlow and Elinore Leake of Robertson County; and three grandchildren.
