While director for the Diocesan Catholic Charities, Monsignor Finn and his sister, Ella Finn, now deceased, housed and educated a Vietnamese orphan.
"He and his sister welcomed a young Vietnamese girl into their lives and into their hearts," said Father Kroger.

He initially served as an assistant at Immaculate Conception Church in Newport, then became secretary to the Most Rev. William T. Mulloy in 1945.
The following year, he was named the diocesan director of the Society for the Propagation of the Faith.
He later served as the Marriage Tribunal's Defender of the Bond, chaplain at St. Joseph Heights in Fort Wright, and an administrator with St. Joseph Church in Camp Springs.
