Raymond Rizzo, loved to spread joy
Raymond E. Rizzo was a happy person and he wanted to help those around him be that way, too.
"He was always in the best of spirits," said his wife, Debra Hartzel Rizzo. "Ray was a very happy-go-lucky person and a wonderful father. Really, up until the last day, everybody that came to see him, he had them laughing."
Mr. Rizzo, 42, of Fort Thomas, died at 12:51 p.m. Sunday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington. He was a painter with B&B; Riverboats, Covington.
Mr. Rizzo enjoyed fishing, especially for salmon and bass.
"He was the best fisherman in the whole wide world, and he could cook them just as good," Mrs. Rizzo said. "He always caught his limit."
Mr. Rizzo loved children and went to great lengths to entertain them, dressing up on Halloween and playing games with them.
"He enjoyed doing that, and the children loved it," his wife said.
Mr. Rizzo also was a handyman.
"Anybody could call him to do any kind of work on their house. He would not only do it, he would do it right. He was such a hard worker," Mrs. Rizzo said.
Other survivors include his sons, Adam Rizzo of Fort Thomas and Nicholas Rizzo of Newport; a stepson, James Litmer of Fort Thomas; a stepdaughter, Amy Litmer of Fort Thomas; his parents, Dorothy and Anthony Rizzo of Highland Heights; sisters, Rosanna Little, Sharon Scherrer, Melissa Schack and Theresa Reekers, all of Fort Thomas, and Darla Hilbert of Taylor Mill; and brothers, Anthony Rizzo and Robert Rizzo, both of Fort Thomas, Vincent Rizzo of Southgate, Ronald Rizzo of Highland Heights and Allen Rizzo of Cold Spring.
Mass of Christian burial will be at noon Wednesday at St. Thomas Church, Fort Thomas. Visitation will be from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas. Memorials are suggested to St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, 401 E. 20th St., Covington, Ky. 41014.
Nathaniel Pierrie Busch, 5 months, of Cincinnati, died Thursday at Children's Hospital, Cincinnati.
Survivors include his parents, Nathaniel Busch and Asia Hocker, both of Cincinnati; grandparents, Michelle Hocker and Grant Woods, both of Covington; and great-grandmother, Mary Hocker of Covington.
Services were this morning at Jones & Simpson Funeral Home, Covington. Burial will be in Mary Smith Cemetery, Elsmere.
Joseph R. Dixon, 78, of Southgate, died Sunday at Thomson Hood Veterans Center, Wilmore. He was a retired chemist with NIOSH, Cincinnati, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta. He was a member of St. Therese Church, Southgate.
Survivors include his wife, Helen M. Werncke Dixon; sons, Joseph R. Dixon Jr. of Mason, Ohio, John P. Dixon of Southgate, Mark E. Dixon of Cold Spring and Timothy D. Dixon of Lake Orion, Mich.; daughters, Ann Marie Longo of Warsaw and Patricia Bustle of Southgate; a sister, Marie Tegart of New Albany, Ind.; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. EDT Friday at St. Augustine Church, Jeffersonville, Ind. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas, and from 5 to 8 p.m. EDT Thursday at E. M. Coots Funeral Home, Jeffersonville, Ind. Burial will be in Kraft Graceland Cemetery, New Albany, Ind.

Melba M. Gubser Hayes, 74, of Dayton, died Sunday at Crestview Parke Care Center, Cincinnati. She was a homemaker.
Her husband, Gerald John Urban Hayes, preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons, Thomas D. Hayes, Kenneth R. Hayes and Paul M. Hayes, all of Dayton, Robert L. Hayes and Patrick T. Hayes, both of Bellevue, and Gerald J. Hayes of Independence; three sisters, a brother, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
No services are planned. Radel Funeral Home, Cincinnati, is handling arrangements.
John Honeycutt, 80, of Covington, died at 8:15 p.m. Monday at his home.
Arrangments are pending at Swindler & Currin Funeral Home, Latonia.
Fred Keeney, 62, of Williamstown, died at 1:10 p.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center Hospice, Covington.
Arrangements are pending at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown.
Lenora Dean Martin, 93, of Hebron, died at midnight Monday at Woodspoint Geriatric Center, Florence. She was a homemaker and a member of Erlanger Church of Christ.
Her husband, Charles S. Martin, died in 1986.
Survivors include a son, Charles A. Martin of Hebron; a daughter, Rosalind Ratcliff of Erlanger; a sister, Mildred Hudson of Hebron; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Hebron Lutheran Cemetery, Hebron.
Frances Odeline Perry, 94, of Newport, died Monday at Baptist Convalescent Center in Newport.
She was a beautician with Sinton Hotel, Cincinnati.
Her husband, Norbert Perry, died in 1974. A daughter, Pauline Couch, also died in 1974.
Survivors include a daughter, Bette McAnally Fennell of Fort Thomas; half-sisters, Sarah Leonard and Maude B. Reed, both of Shelbyville, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Private services will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas.

Ralph A. Tonnies, 65, of Fort Mitchell, died Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a sales representative with Ketterer Co., Cincinnati.
A son, Rick Tonnies, died in 1977.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Mayer Tonnies.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Blessed Sacrament Church, Fort Mitchell. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.
