Cecilia C. Cimellaro, worked for DuPonts
Cecilia Cully Cimellaro, a Scottish immigrant who worked 30 years as a maid for the Dupont family estate in Pennsylvania, died at 5:40 a.m. Wednesday at Carmel Manor Nursing Home in Fort Thomas.
The former Covington resident was 77.
She came to the United States with her parents from Scotland when she was 3.
The family settled in Long Island, N.Y., and then moved outside of Philadelphia, where her father managed a stable for fox hunters.
There, Mrs. Cimellaro took a job cooking and cleaning at the mansion of Esther I. Dupont and her husband, Sir John Thouron, a British knight.
Mrs. Cimellaro's husband, whom she later divorced, cared for Ms. Dupont's horses.
Mrs. Cimellaro had a son, John A. Cimellaro, who was raised on the grounds of the estate.
"She loved it," her son, who now lives in Covington, said of his mother's job.
"She was from Scotland originally, so that was just kind of the way she was brought up.
"She looked at it as an honor to work for (Thouron)."
Mrs. Cimellaro retired in 1986. Without family in Pennsylvania, she moved in with her son, who at the time was working in the Navy and was stationed in California.
In 1991, John Cimellaro took a job as a pilot for Comair, and the family moved to Northern Kentucky.
Mrs. Cimellaro helped care for her two grandchildren.
Around the same time, Mrs. Cimellaro was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. She moved to Carmel Manor last year.
"She was a kind, considerate person," her son said.
"She didn't have a lot, but she shared what she had."
Mrs. Cimellaro was a member of St. Cecilia Church in Coatesville, Pa., and the Ladies Auxiliary of Kenneth Square, Pa., VFW Post.
Other survivors include two grandchildren.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Carmel Manor Chapel, Fort Thomas.
Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Kenneth Square, Pa.

Wyoma F. Mastin, 90, of Florence, died at 2:10 a.m. Thursday at Woodspoint Nursing Home in Florence.
She was a homemaker and a member of Florence United Methodist Church.
She also was a member of the church Eva Miller Circle.
Her husband, Everett Mastin, died in 1985.
Survivors include daughters, Pauline Mastin and Patsy Mastin, both of Florence.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will begin there at noon Saturday.
Burial will be in Hopeful Lutheran Cemetery.

Anna Belle Powers Overley, 77, of Brooksville, died Wednesday at her home. She was a nurse's aide.
Survivors include her husband, Herman Overley; a son, Jim Gross of Brooksville; a stepdaughter, Shirley Whalen of Sardinia, Ohio; brothers, Frank Powers of California and Houston "Bing" Powers of Brooksville; sisters, Irene West of Dayton and Anna Rose McCoy of Covington; and four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Moore and Parker Funeral Home, Brooksville. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Brooksville Cemetery.
Kathryn Fae Ryle Reffitt, 84, of Erlanger, died Wednesday at her home.
She was a retired cook with Doc's Place Restaurant and the former Shillito's Department Store, Cincinnati, and was a member of Erlanger Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Ray W. Reffitt; and sisters, Freda Lee Pitts of Florence, Dora Mae Borders of Dayton, Ohio, and Norma Humphrey of Lexington.
Services were this morning at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Florence. Burial was in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.

Deborah Rider, 45, of Ryland Heights, died at 9 a.m. Thursday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence.
Arrangements are pending at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia.
Lana Sears, 93, of Highland Heights, died Wednesday at Lakeside Place Nursing Home in Highland Heights.
She was owner of Sears Stamp and Coin Shop, Covington, and a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Covington.
Her husband, Harrison Sears, preceded her in death.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Saturday.
Entombment will be in Highland Mausoleum, Fort Mitchell.
Lawrence Matthew Trumbo, 72, of Bellevue, died Thursday at his home.
Arrangements are pending at Dobbling Funeral Home, Bellevue.
