Mary Bauer, longtime Bracken clerk
For 40 years, Mary Della Bauer was the Bracken County clerk.
Ms. Bauer's re-election was almost automatic because of the way the proud Democrat ran her office, said a niece, Angie Bauer of Frogtown in Bracken County.
'I think they voted for her all the time because she was efficient. She carried out her job and she really cared about the people of Bracken County,' Angie Bauer said of her aunt.
Ms. Bauer, 67, of Brooksville, died Tuesday at Meadowview Regional Medical Center in Maysville.
Ms. Bauer began her tenure as county clerk in the 1950s and served until 1994. She rarely faced an opponent at the polls.
Karen Hamilton Rumford, who worked with Ms. Bauer and succeeded her as county clerk, said Ms. Bauer was tireless in her elected position.
'She would often come in early to work, long before opening the doors,' Ms. Rumford said.
And Ms. Bauer was also accessible to family and friends, her niece said. 'She was always the first to show up when you needed somebody,' Angie Bauer said.
'She was a devoted Christian and enjoyed her family and family outings. She liked to play cards and go on senior citizen tours.'
Ms. Bauer was CCD teacher at her church, St. James Church in Brooksville, and was a member of the church choir.
Other survivors include her sisters, Valera Bay of Foster and Yvonne Hay of Maysville; and brothers, Jacob Bauer Jr. of Brooksville and George Bauer of Crittenden.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. James Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Moore and Parker Funeral Home, Brooksville. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery, Brooksville. Mildred Inez Bolser, 90, of Highland Heights, died at 12:55 a.m. Wednesday at Highland of Fort Thomas Nursing Home. She was a retired secretary with the Dayton Board of Education. Her husband, Joseph H. Bolser, died in 1950.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty Henry of Highland Heights; a brother, John W. Bilderback of Bandera, Texas; a half-sister, Georgia Kohl of Fort Thomas; seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.
Jack G. Brown, 73, of Taylor Mill, died at 6:29 a.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a retired safety manager with Cincinnati Bell Telephone and a former member of the Taylor Mill City Council. He was a member of Latonia Baptist Church, a trustee with Covington Moose Lodge No. 1469 and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Margie Brown; daughters, Coleen Simpson and Vicki Stineman, both of Taylor Mill; a sister, Carol J. Brown of Prescott, Ariz.; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger. Lola Doud Carlisle, 91, of Independence, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington. She was a clerk with Wilson's Department Store, Independence, and a member of Carter's Chapel Church in Gardnersville and the 500 Club, Independence.
Survivors include a daughter, Wanda White of Independence; three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington.
Sydney Leigh Eggleston, 6 months, of Covington, died Monday at her home.
Survivors include her parents, Jeff Eggleston and Christina Garcia, both of Covington; a sister, Carrigan Eggleston of Covington; brothers, John Brooks of Carrollton and Scottie Eggleston of Florence; grandparents, Ruby Garcia of Covington, Susan Haggard of Covington and Larry Eggleston of Erlanger; and great-grandparents, Ora Gray of Carrollton, Juanita Garcia of Brackettville, Texas, and Mary Eggleston of Taylor Mill.

Carl 'Dot' Gilbert, 76, of Maysville, died at 8:20 a.m. Wednesday at his home. He was a farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Daisy Mae Gilbert; a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Bolden of Mays Lick; and a son, Carl A. Gilbert Jr. of Maysville.

Terrence Lynn Jones, 48, of Clarksville, Tenn., died Friday at Clarksville Memorial Hospital. He was an employee of the Trane Co., Clarksville, and a member of Bible Baptist Church, Clarksville.
Survivors include sons, Joseph Jones of Clarksville, Tenn., and Johnathan Jones of Cunningham, Tenn.; his parents, Joseph and Joyce Jones of Florence; brothers, Kenneth Jones of Farmington Hills, Mich., and Timothy Jones of Florence; sisters, Sharon Johnson of Verona, Kathleen Brossart of Walton and Jennifer Salyers of Union; and one grandchild.

Lois Marie Kaup, 83, of Fort Thomas, died at 1:05 a.m. Tuesday at Lakeside Place Nursing Home, Highland Heights. She was a retired secretary with Community Memorial Hospital. Her husband, Frederick Kaup Sr., preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, JoAnn Tucker of West Caldwell, N.J.; a son, Rick Kaup of Wilder; three granddaughters and three great-grandchildren.

Katherine H. Keitz, 87, of Erlanger, died at 12:04 a.m. Wednesday at Baptist Convalescent Center, Newport. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Keitz; a daughter, Sharon Jenkins of Gallatin, Tenn.; a son, Robert R. Keitz of Petersburg; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Oma Oakley, 67, of Corinth, died Monday at Owen County Memorial Hospital, Owenton. She was a homemaker and a member of One Voice Church, Corinth. Her husband, Wesley Oakley, and a son, Darrel Oakley, preceded her in death.
Survivors include daughters, Joyce Taylor and Debbie Beller, both of Corinth, Rachel Campbell of Sherman, and Sharon Carelock of Covington; sons, Danny Oakley of Corinth and James Oakley of Frankfort; sisters, Philisa Puckett of Morgan, Jessie Moore of Clay City, Nomoe Franklin of Tennessee, Elizabeth Puckett and Shirley Puckett, both of Ohio; a brother, Corbitt Puckett of Menden, La.; 23 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth L. Napier Reams, 60, of Erlanger, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a homemaker and a member of Order of the Eastern Star.
Her husband, James Reams, died in 1985.
Survivors include daughters, Debbie P. Howell and Jami L. Reams, both of Erlanger, and Kim S. McKnight of Eau Claire, Wis.; sons, Larry C. Reams of Cincinnati, Steve L. Reams of Latonia and Tim J. Reams of Alexandria; her mother, Ella Napier of Latonia; sisters, Eleanor Berkley of Latonia, Ella Boh of Sevierville, Tenn., Darlene Kells of Independence and Donna Lowen of Covington; brothers, Bill Napier of Florence, Bobby Napier, Glen Napier and Paul Napier, all of Covington; and 12 grandchildren.

Mary E. Schirmer, 88, of Ghent, died Tuesday at Carroll County Memorial Hospital, Carrollton. She was a homemaker and a member of Ghent Baptist Church. Her husband, Alfred Schirmer, preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons, Jack Schirmer of Ghent and Harold Schirmer of Carrollton; a brother, Jack McDonald of Harrison, Ohio; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

James Earl Thompson Sr., 77, of St. Louis, died Tuesday in St. Louis. He was a railroad company regional sales manager.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred 'Betty' Daugherty Thompson; and a son, James 'Chip' E. Thompson of St. Louis.

John Ware Sr., 57, of Falmouth, died Wednesday at his home after an extended illness.
He was a retired employee of Interlake Steel and Newport Steel companies, and a member of the Fowler Creek Freewill Baptist Church in Independence.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Elizabeth Ware; daughters, Kandy Blevins of Augusta and Johnna Younger of Covington; stepdaughters, Linda Cooper, Sherry Elliott, Brenda Phillips and Lora Lawson, all of Falmouth; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth. Visitation will begin there at noon Friday. Burial will be in Neave Cemetery, Bracken County.
Violet Wilson, 76, of Crittenden, died Wednesday at Grant Manor Nursing Home, Williamstown.
Arrangements are pending at Eckler-Hudson Funeral Home, Dry Ridge.
