Realtor Thelma Wells, served church
When Thelma Angel Wells didn't show up for church Sunday, her family knew something was wrong. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Latonia where she seldom missed.
'She loved her church above all,' said her daughter, Charlotte Hayes of Villa Hills. 'My mother adored and loved Jesus Christ. That gave her the special, unique quality of loving people. She was a people person. She just loved to be with the Lord's people.'
Mrs. Wells, 80, of Fort Wright, died at 12:35 p.m. Sunday at her home. She was a real estate agent with D. C. Shell Realtors. She was an agent for more than 35 years.
'She loved people and loved selling real estate,' Mrs. Hayes said. 'That was her calling. She just enjoyed finding people what they liked and what they could afford.'
Mrs. Wells was active in her church, where she was a member of the Young at Heart Club. She also was a captain in her Sunday School class, where she mailed other members of the class birthday cards.
She was a past secretary and treasurer of Licking Valley Daughters of America Council No. 8, and a member of Kenton Boone Realtors Board and the Kenton Boone Realtors Women's Council.
Mrs. Wells enjoyed traveling and working in her flower gardens. She was especially proud of her crepe myrtle trees and bushes.
Mrs. Wells was a courageous woman, her daughter said.
'I admired her greatly because she didn't fear death,' Mrs. Hayes said. 'She knew where she was going. She had a bad heart and had lived with the idea that, "I might not wake up tomorrow,' and that would upset me. But it didn't bother her, she said, "I live with it every day, I'm not afraid.'
'She had a beautiful life. Mother meant so much to me.'
